Seriously you would think I would know better! And I deserve the extra work.
I had a fabulous time babysitting DGS--but--there is a reason we have our children when we are younger. That little guy ran us ragged. But fun too. We, he and I, had a confrontation one day. He elected to stay in his naughty corner rather than concede. He is his father's son. I can still remember having a similar stand off with his daddy at about the same age. The battle of wills might still be going on if his granddad hadn't brought home some watermelon. Surrender. (Thank goodness). All…Continue
What a week! Julie brought this quilt of Barbara's to Vintage Stitchers on Thursday:
She had finished the quilting. Barbara inherited it from a friend who passed away.
Barbara also showed us this lovely confection she had just finished piecing/appliquéing.…Continue
Well, today is day one of our road trip plane trip to North Carolina. I so wanted to take the motorhome and spend a month on the road but DH reminded me how tiring some days can be so he pushed his weight around and now we're flying. I guess it's better than having the roof blow off the motorhome again, or the door trip to flap in the wind again, or the windshield wipers to quilt again, or the batteries to fail, again. Things I don't…Continue
On Sat my DS and I went to Minnesota Quilt Show in Duluth. It was fabulous! Very inspiring, overwhelming, etc. My favorite quilt was the best in show titled "America Let It Shine". A fabulously patriotic quilt; it sent chills to my spine as I read the description. I wish I had taken notes of what it represented including 13 Colonies, 50 states, Pledge of Allegiance, Gettysburg Address, Constitution. It had 5,121 Swarovski crystals representing the number of words in the Constitution. …Continue
Our baby robins arrived about 4 days ago. Someone asked how high in the tree the nest is; it is only about 2 feet off the ground. Thank goodness our dog has not located the nest; sometimes he is oblivious to what is going on around him. Here is a photo of the babies.…Continue
Just returned from the Minn Quilt show in Duluth. What an incredible collection of quilts! I was inspired and overwhelmed at the same time to walk around and look at all of the quilts and the high caliber of quilting represented. It has become an annual event to share time with a quilting friend who enjoys quilting as much as I do - we take a class, check out all the new gadgets and ideas in the quilting world. Explore and find fun little cafe's along the way. Back to the real world tomorrow…Continue
In the ACEO group we just finished a swap, making ATC's - trading card sized (2.5"x3.5") fabric/fiber art creations. Thought you'd enjoy seeing them...…Continue
Thanks for checking it out.
Just finished a quilt for Faith Comes By Hearing, http://www.faithcomesbyhearing.com/ for the Lobiri Language. It is such an honor to be able to create for them. Check out the above link to see what they are all about. You can go to my blog, http://quiltedinspirations.blogspot.com/ to see more of the quilts I have done in the past. Scroll down and on the sidebar is a Smilebox showing the…Continue
I sewed on the label last night, so Nick's memory quilt is done! I asked in an earlier post reply to please pray for my son, Colin. He is heartbroken right now. Nick's family asked him to share at the memorial service. This morning, he is struggling with what to say. Nick's service is at 11am (Pacific coast time). Thank you for praying.…Continue
I must say that our last two days in Florida were certainly busy and amusing. My hubby and I both love to people watch. The human race can sometimes be highly entertaining and, at the same time, can be very sad and thought provoking. While sitting in a social security office in Florida, we watched, unobtrusively, the people going and coming. A white supremist came in and sat down between a black couple and a Hispanic couple. His tattoos declaring what he believed in was there for all the…Continue
I have a new long arm machine which is computerized . I have some questions about doing Panto's . Does anyone have any experience with the Quilt Artist II?
Good morning everyone. I have a secret to tell...well it's been a secret for several weeks but I got the OK to tell. I'M GOING TO BE A GRANDMA, NANA, GRAMMY, NANAW or whatever else they call us these days. I've waited so long for this to happen. Most of my friends have several grand kids and two are even great grandmas. My youngest son and his wife will have our little one in early December and now, as much as I had winter and cold weather, I wish it were next month. I would love some…Continue
I finished the second graduation quilt for our niece; it is also a Yellow Brick Road out of the Marmalade fabric. I decided I should cut the batting for my friend/ long arm quilter; lo and behold, it was too short! I work at a quilt shop and I can't cut my own batting?!?! Anyway, I bought 20 fabrics in half yard cuts and I have been able to make 3 quilts out of it!! So I will use the short batting on the smaller quilt I made for me! Good grief!
Some of you may remember my posting from nearly 3 years ago when my son, Colin and his friend, Nick were in a motorcyle/atv accident. Fortunately, both boys survived and went onto complete high school, graduating June 2012.
In the photo below, Colin is the one sitting up, Nick is lying down. Colin and Nick…Continue
This robin's nest is in a small spruce tree about 20 feet off our patio. I could not resist taking a photo but I did not touch the nest; I just lifted a small branch to get a better shot. She exits the nest as soon as I get too close for her comfort. I can't believe a small bird can lay such large eggs. Also, I think summer has finally arrived; should be in the 70's rest of week.…Continue
The rest of Jean's generosity.
My friends and I have been finishing things this past week. Here's Janet's latest quilt top:
16 sets of small – as small as 18 week gestation – sized teeny tears diapers trimmed and flipped…all ready to be ironed and top stitched…snuck over to mom’s to sew a bit on June 9th… felt great to just sew for a change…I still had packing and moving pecking at the back of my mind…so I just turned the music up a bit and sewed on! Was listening to Angie’s…Continue
