To start our week off...

Andy Rooney's thoughts on women over forty:

As I grow in age, I value women who are over forty most of all. Here are just a few reasons why: A woman over forty will never wake you in the middle of the night to ask, “What are you thinking?” She doesn’t care what you think.

If a woman over forty doesn’t want to watch the game, she doesn’t sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do. And, it’s usually something more interesting.

A woman over forty knows…

Doll Clothes

I just added some pics of some of the doll clothes that I recently made for my husband's co-worker's daughter, Lorenza.  She is a cutie!!  I had so much fun making them too although they were a little harder than anticipated.  LOL  Now I want to make her a dress with ruffles and lace all over!  Enjoy the pics... they are at the end of the slideshow.

Been lurking, but haven't posted in more than a year.

I have been reading everyones blogs, but haven't commented too much.   Last February 2012, my middle sister passed away, I wasn't ready to share until now,  She had HER II breast cancer, she did fine with that for six years and than that darn cancer went to her colon, she was operated on for it, but it just spread so fast and passed away after a month, She lived in NJ, my other sister & me went up to see her for a week to help her out and I sewed her cushions for her kitchen set.  After…

Chapter 1063 of trials and triblations of sport parents...

We've all met them or coached their kids or related to them. We had a wonderful day...our son coached his varsity team to the State Championship in lacrosse. We try not to mingle much at games with the parents because he is the coach and we don't live in the town. Once in awhile, they will ask who we are. Today, a gentleman asked and his response was...Your son embarassed my son and our family this year by benching him for four games. The four players were benched for drinking on a class…

My next project

Well now that I have finished the table runner I have another project.  Today I ordered some fabrics in blues and greens to make this Half-Square Triangle Fun quilt.  I used the design table to choose my fabrics and I think it will look great.  I think that this will make a great Christmas gift but I don't know who I will give it to yet.  Well I still have at least six months to think about it.  I'll be posting pictures.  : )…

Another Project Out of the Sewing Room!

I've been "gone" from this forum a long time - many reasons, too numerous to mention - some relating to quilting, and others not.  Not bad things; just THINGS.  We all have them, don't we?  The "things" we have to do so we can get back to the sewing machine!  (Or for me, also, the "things" I have to do so I can get back to my organ!)

But today is a day too special to not notice in…

Never ending winter

We tho't end of April 20 inch snowstorm was the last of winter.  Mother nature fooled us.  A week ago we had a hot day and then a hailstorm hit mid-afternoon; have never seen anything like it before.  Wind blew and rain poured and 1/2 inch hail beat leaves off trees, flowers off stems, etc.  Here are a couple photos after the storm.

A view of our…

Vacationing in MT, going to Glacier and into Canada

We arrived in Kalispell MT or just south of there and I have been looking online for quilt shops and saw the below listing: Is this THE Judy Niemeyer? Paper piecing queen?

Judy Niemeyer Quilting, 444 Margrethe Rd, Kalispell, Mt 59901

OMG...I am going to have to check it out. I'm so excited, I have just really started learning to paper piece, and to see some of her work would be amazing.

Also heading to Glacier National Park and into Canada...anything in particular we should see… Continue

Still kicking!

Today was a great day. I went to Keepsake Quilting's Summer Sale in the pouring rain!  It was ok, there is a huge covered porch all along the buildings.  It is well worth the trip and I found wonderful fabric and patterns and a couple of magazines.  I got a real good fix of fondling fabric.  Check on line ladies, they also have an online sale running now.  I have been on the run between my house and my kids, they are an hour away. Always something going on there, sometimes DH comes with me…

Do you need batting for a blue jean quilt?

Hey Yawl,

I am piecing a blue jean quilt. The jean fabric is pretty heavy and I have decided to use flannel to back it.  Do I need batting or will it be too heavy? I've read a lot of things about this on the internet, but I need advice from my expert neighbors.  What should I do?

Thanks,

QuiltMan.

It has been a LONG time.

Sorry it has been so long since I got on my page and said or did anything.  I have been pretty busy quilting and teaching quilting at JoAnn's in Waco.  I got a new longarm quilting machine.  It is a 26" Janome  Artistic quilter.  I love it.  I can quilt an entire king-size quilt in about 3 & 1/2 passes.  It runs so smoothly and the bobbins are huge, so they hold a lot of thread.  It only takes about 3 or 4 bobbins to do a whole quilt.  Love, love, love it.  Our 15-year-old granddaughter…

I just wanted to post a pic of my latest finished project . it,s a queensize  paper pieced quilt called Star burst .   Imade the top about 6 years ago , but everytime I thought I would quilt it , I would decide it was just too big to try quilting in a hoop all by myself . So i got a ladies quilting group to do it for me & they did a lovely job , so i just had to share it…

Orphaned Fabric

About two weeks ago a friend who was moving invited me to "adopt" fabric she no longer planned on using.  Honestly, a girlfriend and I filled up my Jeep!  Plus, we left a ton of stuff behind!  I think my friend took at least 4 grocery bags of fabric, and some batting, and I have 6 bags, batting, and a large box of notions,  tons of patterns, and more fabric.  I have sorted most of it into bins.  While I was sorting I…

Thank You

Good morning everyone.  I need to thank everyone for their kind thoughts, words and prayers.  As of Tuesday's office visit I AM CANCER FREE.  After 4 months of chemo and 5 weeks of radiation it's hard to believe I won't have to see another doctor for 4 months.  Praise the Lord.

I had a scare at the beginning of radiation, as the doctor found another mass and kind of put a scare in me.  It was determined that I would continue radiation and go thru testing afterwards.  Well the test…

I missed you guys!!!!

We traveled to San Diego this past week...what a fun city, but a little pricey. We were staying on the inner harbor and were fortunate to see a carrier come in with hundreds of sailors in dress whites standing on the ship. That sure makes you stop and thank God for these brave men and women. We did a little shopping...played in a store called Charming Charlie's...found my Kentucky Derby hat for next year:…

Search goes on!

Well, made it to Florida on June 2nd after taking 2 days to get here. Drove through heavy rains, fog and crazy drivers from Ohio to Florida. Drove through some crazy towns, such as Big Bone Lick, SC or Stinky Creek, GA. Can't help but wonder WHERE they came up with these names. My favorite was Coosalachiwhachi! LOL.

After celebrating my birthday on Monday, we began searching for a new home. The last one we ended up walking away from due to some important information not being…
