I'm going to be visiting Texas in late Sept. and hope some of you can give me names of some good quilt shops. We will be in Amarillo, Lubbock, Abilene, Austin, San Antonio and San Angelo. I know I won't make it to a lot of shops as I will be traveling with relatives who are not quilters, can you imagine people like that??
Will appreciate any names and e-mail addresses for the shops if possible. Thanks for any help you can give me. Valma

I've felt quite disoriented the last few days because of the change in my page. I just took the time to put everything back where it goes, and I feel so much better. If only I could click and drag on all these boxes that surround me! Then I could get on to the things that really matter--like setting up my sewing room, unpacking all my lovely fabric and putting it in one place where I can actually see it, and starting on the projects that are running around in my head. Seriously, the move has… Continue

I started the August UFO Challenge
in Karen's UFO group. A lot of us have completed our projects and some have a few hours left! My goal was to finish my quilt top. Darlene was nice enough to quickly quilt it for me and I… Continue

WE GOT NEWS!
After blessing a young family with two healthy, strong, independent baby boys to our family clan in the last 5 years my only daughter called this morning with tears of joy in her voice (at 6am my time) rising me out of my morning slumber with 'MOM IT'S A GIRL'.
I had to ask, "Baby are you ok, what what is going on...until it hit me
We are going to celebrate the birth of our first baby girl in our family come early Jan 2010
I was awake… Continue

Since I bought my quilt frame and have taken over both spare bedrooms in our home, my hubby and I were faced with some choices (he definitely wanted one of the spare bedrooms to be for overnight guests). We looked into building-too expensive. We looked into adding on to our current home-expensive and we didn't really didn't want to take on extra debt. So we switched our master bedroom with one of the spare bedrooms and all of my sewing equipment will fit into the (former) master. It does make… Continue

Here is block number 4 for Sarah's quilt. I think it's less a T-shirt quilt and more a quilt that happens to have t-shirt blocks on it. Whichever way, I am pleased with this block. The size of this block isn't apparent in this photo...it's big...it's 21" by 31".
I am trying to get as many blocks done as I can this week as I go back to work next week. They are going rapidly… Continue

Last Thurs, was the opening day of the fair and DH and I took our grandaughter,14 yrs old, and her friend with us. They got in free, but we bought bracelets for them at $25.00 each. Then they had to have money for games and food. We had them check in with us by phone every 1 1/2 hours and it worked out great. One of the 1st places we went was the quilt building. DH went in with me and looked around. Then he waited outside until I was finished looking. He said " Your quilts are nicer than some… Continue

Well my weekend was anything but "lazy". The dog got skunked AGAIN (4th time this summer) at 8:30 Saturday evening. Ohhhh did she stink, she got sprayed right in the snout so she was even foaming at the mouth. Well of course she couldn't come in so I sat outside with her more than half the night as she cried to come in all night. So first thing Sunday morning I found the Tomato Juice and I have a product called "Miracle Air" and believe me it is a miracle. I bathed her (and me not on purpose )… Continue

Wow how did we get here already?! Time seems to be running by even quicker that ever before! I know it's the very last day of the month, but I am saying a belated Happy Birthday to all the August Gals and Guys!! I hope that it was every bit as wonderful day as it should be on your day!
We still have new people coming on the site daily, isn't it great? I wish I had time to welcome each and every one of them, but there just isn't enough hours in my day...............................… Continue

I was in 7th heaven yesterday! I'd been looking forward to checking out the quilts at the Minnesota State Fair this weekend and I wasn't disappointed. It was actually a little bittersweet because while I was able to admire such beautiful quilts, I realized I'll most likely never be THAT good. It's hard to believe there are so many talented quilters out there. While the long arm-finished quilts were extraordinary, there were just as many hand quilted beauties out there. I had to chuckle to… Continue

What happens to the photo you place in (my favorite ) all the early photo are gone, is there a limit as to how many you can save? Does anyone have answer to these question. I hate to start over I look at the photo every day and save the ones I like or thing that may teach me something later., but the folder only has 99 photo.

I took today off of everything. Work, parents, cleaning, cooking, just everything. DH and I had the opportunity to meet our son and his girlfriend in Spokane today and just goof off. (he wanted to look for a 1960’ish VW Bug) I did feel a little guilty for the first hour on the road and had some hand work with me. Then… Continue

I have never done paper piecing before, always avoided it because I never "got it". Anyway I would not mind trying it on a small project, so I found this kit - the Indigo Star and low and behold not only is it paper pieced it is ENGLISH paper piecing - okay, I give up without even starting. In all that I have read over the years I have no clue what in the world English paper piecing is. Is this a good place for me to start or should I try something else as a beginner. The whol paper piecing… Continue

I went to Williamsport yesterday for a party honoring my oldest grandson who is home on leave from Korea. All of my children were there except one and he lives in California. What a wonderful day!! We also got word that Chris' brother Elliot landed back in the states from Iraq. He is in the Pa Natioal Guard and will be back in college shortly. Couldn't ask for better news. I had planned on doing a little shopping for fabric but the festvities continued late into the evening.

Here is the third block. I have resigned myself to the fact that this is going to be an extremely colorful quilt with little or no cohesion between blocks. This block is the connecting block between the Betsey Barbour block (which will be to the right of it) and the UGLi block, which will be below it. I am happy with the way it came out, although I think I may have put the cross pieces to the female symbol on upside down.
If anyone is… Continue

Well, after a few aborted starts at getting back into the swing of things, I think that I can finally say life is falling back into a routine. DH has returned to work after taking the summer off. The business is settling into a pattern albeit a slow one. The fall is shaping up to be a busy one. But I like routine and can actually now plan some quilting time.
I managed to get a couple of pics uploaded to my page of the new grandbaby and her little panel quilt. I wasn't going to put my pic… Continue
