I Can Breathe Again

Technically, I have taken all the classes I need to for my masters degree.  Unfortunately, there was no graduating for me this summer as I had planned due to mental exhaustion and an ailing 85 year old mom.  I really admire and feel for all you ladies that have committed to taking care of a parent full time.

Back to school.  I postponed my graduation until this fall because the summer load proved to be literally a LOAD.  I am required to put together a virtual portfolio as the final…

Can I Brag for just a second?

First off I want to thank all the gals on QWU who help'd me test my Kerri Bag Pattern. I thought you'd like to know that it made #6 in the top 25 patterns sold at JoAnn Fabrics last month.  WoO HOo.  I've never had a pattern make the list that high before.  I was so shocked when I saw my name on the spreadsheet I almost hyperventilated.  I did have an apron make it to #23 but #6....wow...I feel bonified.  Thanks again ladies.  Your tips and suggestions made this the pattern it is.  (PS:  If… Continue

Happy Summer!

Here we are in the last month of summer!  Like some of you I have been busy with vacations, visitors and just running around, so I havn't spent much time in my sewing room or on the computer.  I did finish one fun quilt this summer, and because of the color scheme, I have named it "I dream of Huckleberries".  It was a fun one to make, but it did make me think!  Hope you all enjoy the rest of your summer and the pictures of my Huckleberry quilt!…

Hi everyone,  I haven't been on in awhile, it has been a very busy summer, I live on the water, so we have lots of company.   Last week had 2 of my six grands for the week, we went fishing, clamming, swimming on the beach, they love the ocean.  We did find time to sew, I bought 2 preprinted pattern aprons from WalMart, just cut and sew.  My GD is 11 and GS is 8, they did very well, but my GD is a lefty, WOW! it is so hard to teach a lefty to rotory cut.  I had to buy her left handed…

Day 4 of Vacation, What happened to day 3????

Ok who ever stole yesterday from me needs to give it back!!  Oh wait that would be mom!  Spent much of yesterday running mom around.  The up side was diner out. My daughter even managed to show up for a few minutes to say hi and showed off her gently used "new" car. After all that I sat and pondered my quilting project.  I tried the clear wash out webbing  the other night and didn't like it.  I kept tearing the stuff before I got to the quilting part of my project.  Went back to Joann's this…

Money to buy more fabric...

Just received my CT order...you never fail to satisfy! Just beautiful colors and texture! I have been thinking for awhile about selling some of my old jewelry, since the price of gold is so high. I went through my jewelry box and pulled out stuff I got in high school 40 yrs. ago that old boyfriends gave me. Class ring, charm bracelet, one earring and just stuff that I'll never wear or have anyone to give it too, that would want it. So, I took it to a reliable local place. I figured that… Continue

Good Morning!

For those of you planning to come on the Caribbean cruise with me in January, I bet you are wondering what projects you will be making, right? Well, it's been a challenge for me trying to come up with something that I think you will enjoy, yet be unique enough for you to try.

Ok, now I think I finally have it-thanks to some suggestions from Debbie and Betty, my friends over at Sew Much More in Indianapolis. We will be constructing an oversized tote that will carry your supplies for a… Continue

I finally found a block that was easy for me....grin.  I posted it on My Page.

Hope things are going well for everyone.  My grandkids are ready to go back to school in a week or so, and they are excited.  At least until they come home from their first day of school.

Vacation day 2

Not nearly as exciting as that yearly physical but still interesting enough.  I've ordered material, I've ordered another book and I've been to the local fedex to get a photo enlarged of a design that I've decided I wanted to do for my quilt.  So now that big question is: How do I go from picture to material????  I've tried light box, doesn't work for me.  I've tried clear platic trace and pin, doesn't work for me.  I've tried sticky paper draw and pin then sew, doesn't work for me.  I can't…

Yearly Physical

Don't you just look forward to that yearly visit to the doctor's office? NOT...You go in thinking this is only going to take at the most a half hour...first the nurse ask how much I weighed (she however didn't say what year) so I smiled and said 135lb. she said step on the scale 175! how tall 5'6 nope 5'3...then she takes my B/P and it was elevated! What does she expect...when I came in I was Tall and slender...after she got through... I ended up short and fat!!!  But, seriously ladies and…

High Fiber—A Week at Home

On Thursday, I received a couple of packages in the mail. One was nylon roving from Paradise Fibers

I'm going to card this with my Shetland wool (and later the Romney and some KP Wool of the Andes spinning fiber) to use for socks this winter.

The other was a lovely shawl from a dear friend who lives far away. I…

The NJ State Fair is OVER

Yes, only two great sunny days and the rest were threatened by showers and constant rain.

I took several ribbons on my quilts; two second place (Double Wedding Ring and Feathered Star); one third (Panda snippets); two honorable mentions (Jersey Fresh and "Soup's On" challenge quilt). I think that I would have done better if I had put all of my nine of my quilts in the "adult" category. I had placed them in the "professional" category because I sold a couple many years ago, thus…
