I learned to Free Motion on my machine. I saw this technique I call Sketchy Stichery. Its a whimsical look. I have been selling dog pillows in my Etsy store. Hope you can stop by. I also have fabric new and vintage in my store. Thank you
Jazmin's Cacti & Succulent bowl...blooming!
I really shouldn't go to a pet type shop when I'm feeling guilty for not saving every unhappy animal on the planet...specially that huge snapping turtle some poop ran over on…Continue
Hello, I have been away from my Blog for 4 years!!! I cant believe the time has gone so very fast. So much has changed. My son got married and started his own business. My youngest son is a Senior in College. We moved and have added another Rescue dog to our family. We have had many foster dogs and pups come to stay for just a bit, while they were waiting for their "Furever" home. Hope to get back into the swing of things. I have learned some new techniques that I would like to share on my…Continue
Last night my DD announced that they're having a baby. I'm going to be a grandma again! My DGD is almost 10 so she was so excited. They just bought a 3 bedroom house in June so everything is falling in place. Now I've got to get another quilt going. We saw our DGS last weekend and he gave me painting lessons. He's our budding inventor. They just came back from North Carolina so he is inventing a crab sorting machine. LOL He wouldn't let me bring it home and put on the frig because he…Continue
Well, after some horrendous missteps caused by the bank, we finally closed on our new Florida home and are slowly settling in. The settlement was supposed to have been on Monday (July 29) but due to a bank oversight, they "discovered" a document they didn't know they had (had it since May and they HAD requested it) and this we found out when we were getting gas on the Ohio/Kentucky border! After having major meltdown, and some fast typing on the internet - thank heavens for smart phones - we…Continue

Hi everyone. Earlier this year I decided that I would make a special quilt for my father who would celebrate his 80th birthday on August 5, 2013 - Today! I decided on a patriotic quilt as he is a veteran of the US Navy. I had a patriotic panel and some patiotic fabrics that I purchased a couple of years ago from Keepsake Quilting when my husband and I visited New Hampshire on vacation. With a few other fabrics from my stash I was able to plan this quilt without having to buy any additional…Continue
Here's by granddaughter in the apron I made her. She loves it.
I let her wear my gardening hat to keep off the hot sun. With her cute little dress she looks just like Sunbonnet Sue.…Continue
I’m away on vacation, and in the place of my usual blog, I’ve decided to give you a special treat.
When our 20-year-old granddaughter was little and we had just come back from living in Indonesia, I bought an Ashley doll and dressed her up to give to our…Continue
Here is what was in the rest of that donation from Becky!
Thanks for taking a look.
What a perfect theme for our September Candle Mat! Yep! A schoolhouse. I know, it's rather predictable but still fun, eh?! It took me only an afternoon to piece, quilt, and bind this little delight.…Continue
So vacation time was a washout. I was ok the first day but it was all down hill after that. I was sick with what I would say was sinus and cold all rolled into one. I didn't even get to babysit Aiden. Having said that, it stands to follow I didn't even get any quilting done. After two days in bed I did get up and start acting like a human being but that was about it. Even now a week after the start of this whatever I'm still recovering. Not fair to have wasted vacation time being sick. …Continue
Today Suzanne L came to my house for the afternoon. We had started trying to get together two years ago (or was it more). Today it finally happened and what a nice time we had!
She brought some Show & Tells, wonderful quilt and afghan treasures that have been in her family, including this gorgeous Grandmother's Flower Garden.…Continue
So...what do you all do to get motivated out of a quilting slump?
Do you just dig in, grit your teeth, and plow your way through it?
Do you step back and give yourself a break for a time?
Do you go to quilt shows for inspiration?
Do you go to a class or try a new technique?
What motivates you and gets your creative quilting juices flowing again?
Just curious. :)
Several weeks ago I took a machine embroidery class with Lynda Howell of The Stitch Connection and I finally finished my little quilt this morning. It is called "Flo's Flower Shop". I was joking with Lynda by saying that I would have named it "Bee's Flower Shop" instead since there are 2 bees flying around. I was thinking about donating it to the miniature auction my guild has during our annual quilt show, but now I'm not sure I can part with it.…Continue
I recently purchased a used long arm- it is a Gammill premier plus. I have been working on muslin sandwiches to practice on and I also picked up 10 charity quilts from my quilt guild that I can quilt and gain some experience while donating my time.
I have quilted 3 of the charity quilts and the next one I thought I would try some free motion quilting. I wonder if there is anyone who would like to suggest what I should do. I don't have a lot of thread yet and was wondering what color…Continue
