Hello Everyone,
I want to try my hand at making coasters for teacher gifts this year and am wondering what kind of batting would be best to use... bamboo, cotton or do any of you know of something better? I don't want a lot of loft but I do want it to be absorbent. Any suggestions?
Thanks. :-)

Yes, Texan. I teach kindergarten at a small lovely school in Toronto, Canada.(I transferred there this fall.). Well amongst the wonderful staff here we have a gal from Texas (well Alabama originally but direct from Texas. She moved here for love.)
She is the cutest! I expected a drawl but she sounds pretty much like we do with the occasional y'all.
She brought in tortilla chips and "Texas Caviar" today.
A can of mixed beans (chick peas, red beans etc.)
Chopped…

It's been awhile since I wrote a blog on QWS and figured it's about time I do. I've been quilting for many years and have taken many classes. I've also thought that I new everything and there wasn't a pattern out there that I couldn't make if I put my mind to it. Well over the last two months I've taken two quilt classes at the local quilt shop. The first one was a Beginner class (yes I said Beginner) and the second…

Every now and then when the day's work is done I like to browse through the pictures on QWU. I have to say we have a great group of talented ladies on here. I get so inspired to get at my projects. I have a quilt started for my youngest grandson, a table runner and placemat set done (can't show it until after Christmas). I also have a tree skirt ready to start. I have the fabric bought and ready to cut. I have been bogged down a little with re-doing my bedroom and doing the alterations. I…

I ordered a lot of fabric this week from Connecting Threads - I mean a lot! They just released all those new lines, and with Christmas coming up, it seemed so easy to click the order button.
Therefore, last night I spent a good deal of time going through my stash to see if I could part with any I've had for a while and haven't managed to use. I've posted what I found on etsy at:…

Today at the Warwick Valley Quilt Guild, Terry Kramzar was the guest speaker. It was a fascinating talk about her connection with nature and the influences in her quilting projects. Not your ordinary bed quilt here.
Check out this link for an exciting journey into the connections of nature and quilting.
Enjoy!

After dinner, while relaxing in front of the TV I gathered needle and thread and sewed down the binding on this quilt. Isn't it fun? So perfect for this time of year! Thanks for all the fun comments about binding a quilt in my last post.
Here's the fabric for the back:…

Good morning!
My guild is having a challenge for our spring quilt show where participants decorate/quilt a bra. They will be shown and/or auctioned off at our show in May. Other guilds have done this as fundraisers for breast cancer awareness. Some of them are wild! I have posted some pics of the decorated bras on my blog, along with links to see the other bras in their show.
They look like so much fun to make! I am for sure going to participate in my guild's…

How do I delete pictures below my profile? I have pictures of my sewing room below my profile and above my slide show. One picture is enlarged and I can't get it back to size. I have no idea how this happened. I noticed also that the picture that is normal size has a bar to move it back and forth. I never noticed that before either. Is anyone else experiencing this problem.
Thanks
