Now that the temps are starting to cool off I'm anxious to get to work on the binding of this and one other quilt that are ready for the handwork. I know I could have done it on those hot 90's summer days, but I had other "cooler" projects to work on then. LOL This quilt is perfect for Fall, with lots of great sunflowers, including some applique ones on it. I can't take the…Continue
I have been trying to enter information on an up coming quilt show
on Add an Event but I can finger it out can anyone help me
It has been a while since I last posted. All is well. I am currently enrolled in grad school pursuing a masters in elementary education. It has been 20yrs since my BS but I'm doing very well in my class. I've already taken one class and next week will be mid-terms in my 2nd class. I have 8 more classes to go. I should graduate in May 2013. It took a minute to dust the cobwebs out of my brain though...lol!
I haven't been doing much quilting lately,…Continue
Question for those of you who have made DWRs with 30's fabrics. Did you use a white or off-white background?
At first I thought the off-white would be the way to go, so it would look more vintage. But then thought a crisp white would make those 30's fabrics pop. Any thoughts?
I said that I would get the main part of my quilt done today and I have. I was a little worried this morning, nothing was going right at work and I figured that would carry over into my sewing time but I sat down, had my coffee and gave myself a break before starting. In the next few days I will get the border put on. I haven't quite decided on what to do about that part but as easy as the block was to put together, the borders will be a piece of cake.…Continue
I know, I know! This is a quilt site, BUT experience taught me that quilters are very often creative in other areas too! My question is: are any of you familiar with a beaded doily? Did your mom or granny use them too? For some reason I am not able to post the picture here, but you will find a pic on my page. I didn't crochet this doily myself, but inherited it from my granny who died at the age of 89 a few years ago. People from those "long ago" times used these doilies to cover their…Continue
Well here it nearing the end of Sept. I think it is the first day of fall. I have been quilting but have put aside my baby Jane AKA 'Related to Jane" for a little while I do some Christmas projects . One of these is a Christmas wall hanging and another is a lap quilt for one of my grand daughters for Christmas.
During the summer I helped my 11 yr, old grand daughter to do her first sewing machine project...an apron then more recently I've been helping a Chinese…Continue
Been too busy lately, have hardly been on the computer at all. I miss this and have to find a way to keep up! My DH was working a lot and we've had Miss McGee on weekends, which means that I've had Miss McGee on weekends! Not complaining, I love to have her. But weekends are no longer for sewing. School (and therefore work) has started back up too. I've had new foster cats, one who was left tied in a pillowcase by a barn with her two kittens. The current one was accidentally…Continue
It seems to be later and later before I get my blog up these days. It's not that I am not on the site, as I am usually writing by 8 am.
I have been busy answering emails about my cruise with sewmanyplaces.com this morning, blogging, and updating my "Create" site.
Finally, I am ready to work on my Seasonal Mug Rug project! I will be stitching up a new design, thanks to the fact I am disorganized in my craft room. You just know the second I publish the new design, the one…
Having bought the Elna 9600 from Pocono Sew n Vac recently, I was able to take introductory classes on the use of the machine. The first class was in mid summer. Figured out how to thread it, bobbin up and sew on it with the various stitch functions. No problem. I made four Triple Irish Chains during the summer.
The second class was how to use the embroidery function. Well now..embroidery offers a whole lot of new ideas and more computer functions that scroll you from page to page…Continue
Well, I'm very new on this site but not to the world of the internet. I am in love with Crazy quilting and have two at various stages. One is still only together with pins, oops! I am a single mother of 4 young adults and they all have their own quilts. Oh! I do have a CQ blog, only a week old but the photo's on it are of my own quilts.
I even had the opportunity to send a friend over there since he wanted to see…Continue
I have been absent for a while, I was working to make a few things for my son's wedding. The theme was "Shabby Chic". I made 3 sets of flags, one with the applique "Mr. and Mrs.". I also made the Ring Bearer Pillow. Oh by the way, this is my beautiful new daughter-in-law. Now, my next project is to make a wall hanging using fabrics and keepsakes from the wedding. I have…Continue
Hope everyone is having a great day. My daughter insist it's still a full moon this week. Everything has been a little off with her.....grin.
So this isn't exactly quilting, but it's crafty. I've been making frames as gifts for many years, and I just started taking photos of them. This frame is for my husband's cousin's daughter, baby Georgia, born just 10 days ago. Her nursery is hot pink with green and orange accents, so I thought the flower stickers and jewels (hello bling! they live in Hollywood) would go nicely with a hot pink spray painted wooden frame I purchased at a crafts store.
I hope she likes it! (P.S. my…Continue
