Paper pieced Hogwarts Sue witchie block. She’s all hand pieced and is 9 inches square. Still need to embroider a wee H on the light blue area for Hogwarts. Cuteness! This block patter was had for free at:…Continue
Snow arrived in Park City last week. That's Sunny, checking out the snow on the front deck.
We usually get a light snowfall in September. This year it was unusual, though. We had five days of light to medium snowfall with some accumulation on rooftops and shady areas. It's gone now, but the temperatures have stayed…Continue
I love to take my iron to classes and retreats but don’t like to mess with trying to figure out how to get a hot iron home. I have seen the Caddy Pad pattern made in many different fabrics and it always looks so cute. To see the rest of the post click here.…

A friend of mine called me Thursday night. A very dear friend of her's...a sewer...had died this past month and would I please come over and rescue her sewing machines. I love vintage sewing machines and went over yesterday. I came home with a White VS treadle sewing machine (which came from the previous owner's great grandmother) and what I think is a Japanese clone of a Singer 99...it has beautiful decals but is obviously a newer machines. It is called an "Imperial" sewing machine and…Continue
The previous post showed a picture of part of the quilt block that I have been working on. I thought everyone would like to see the finished block. The center is off by a little bit but I'm not perfect and I can live with it. Besides from a distance you would never notice. The alternating block for this quilt will be just the center pieced ring without the four corners.…Continue
I have been working on a new quilt top this month and after cutting and sewing and pressing, when it came time to put the units together, hummm they didn't fit. Yes I wasted a lot of material figuring that out. I had decided earlier this week to give up on the pattern but I thought I would give it one more try. I reworked the pattern and this time I cut only enough pieces to try this corner out. I know that if I could get this part fixed the rest of it would come together. This time it…Continue
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this Snow Flakes Mini Runner! It is absolutely adorable. First, of course, I love snowmen; second, it’s mini-- who doesn’t love mini?; and third, it was quick and easy. What a trifecta. This was super simple to make, no matching and the embroidery is primitive so it shouldn’t be perfect. It was fun to make all the different expressions…
We have been holding our breath at the lake house...the property beside us sold without us knowing, it was for sale. We just found out, that the neighbor across the road, up a ways bought it! This is the nicest family...we are thrilled. Had we known it was for sale, we would have tried to bid on it...to protect ourselves from rowdy party people! This is the best gift I've gotten this year! Also, saved us a chunk of money!
Been working on redoing a nine patch quilt into a lap size.…Continue
I just got some great news. Our oldest DD just called to tell me they're having another baby. Our youngest DD is going to have a baby due March 31. This one is supposed to be 2 weeks earlier and right on my DGS's birthday. I'm in shock right now. I'm finishing quilting my DGS's quilt and have started one for the new baby. Now I have to start another one. William is more excited about getting a cat than a baby, though. He's taking it all in stride. Life is good!
Good day to all. Hope everyone is getting ready for the holidays coming up. I sure haven't been. I am so on the late show. Hopefully one of these days I can get to catching up or at least finished with things.
Well wound up in the hospital again this time I fell off the toilet at Burlington Coat factory and then at the gas station on the way to the hospital. my sister didn't kno what to do except to get me to the hospital as fast and as best she could. heck I wasn't feeling bad when…Continue
I haven't posted before, just browsing. I like the pp witch, she's cute. I am just putting on the binding on a small wall hanging, The Grim Ripper. Think I got it off LOQ. Anyway it goes with the season. I was using the thread I'd purchased from Connecting Threads, and whether it was just the spool or not, it kept shredding, and I wasn't using long pieces doing the binding either. Anyone else had that problem or am I alone in this problem? I also just finished a small hanging call…Continue
My computer crashed in mid Aug. and I just got another computer. I got a laptop this time.
My friend from England came Aug. 16th and left Sept. 18th.
I have been taking my sister to Bangor for chemo. She is doing O.K. but they have told her the chemo is just to buy her time. She never complains. We are getting allot of quality time going back and forth to Bangor.
I have missed this site and keeping up with all the news. Will have to catch up when I have the…Continue
Hi all! Has anyone made a quilt with neckties? I have a pattern work out but need some suggestions from anyone that may have made one. I have not started cutting the ties yet. I know that I cut on the bias.
Did you have any problems cutting them without stretching them?
Did you back your ties with something to stabilize them?
The ties will actually be appliqued and I was hoping to place them with some kind of fusible webbing. Any experience with that?
I'm still waiting on getting my outlets updated in my sewing room, so I thought I'd share a bit more about where we are now living.
We have this great…Continue
We are moving home to Colorado on Wednesday! The floods in Colorado were devastating for so many people, but all of our family and friends are ok. I called our builder and our new house is totally fine, no flooding. We sold our house here and we are in an apartment with our dog, but it has been fine. I can tell you I have been really stressed out because we didn't sell our house here until last week. A friend of ours bought it then…Continue
Paper pieced Trendy Witch…Love the paisley top and the fabulous peacock mish mash hat! Only thing is when I was removing the paper I somehow put my finger right through the batik pant leg, hence the red patch. I just hope when I send this out to eventually be quilted the quilter doesn’t get hung…Continue
I worked on this quilt over the weekend at a retreat using the 10 min block pattern. I made one block before I left for the retreat and finished the rest of the top over the weekend. I can't believe how fast it came together. It is made with the Patriotic collection at Connecting Threads. I am donating it to a Veteran at our guild metting in November…Continue
