Happy Halloween! I cannot believe that it is Halloween and the last day of October! Reading that some of you have snow…WOW!
I enjoy Halloween very much as does my husband…that might explain the $186 he spent on candy yesterday! Yes, that is a 1 in front of the 8! We saw my niece at the store… Continue

I made this today by covering a 3 ring photo album. It's for my son's gf for Christmas; she had asked for a notebook to keep her recipes in. I didn't quite measure it right heigthwise and ended up having to sew the ends that wrap around the front and back covers together by hand... hope to find something like clear contac paper to cover it with so that it will be easier to keep clean in the kitchen.
there's a wee bit… Continue

Today I spent time in my veggie garden, winterizing it actually. I had to cut down the tomato "bushes", they refused to give up the ghost...they still want to grow more tomatoes! I worked slowly because I'm still not back up to speed...the last 2 weeks I've been re-cooperating from pneumonia (and severe asthma attack)...thus my "bump in the road" but let me tell you something... I have not been this happy is a long time. I think I was letting life's mundanes just bog me down. Since I've been in… Continue

Happy Halloween everyone. My DGD stayed last night and we carved pumpkins and made Halloween cookies. My daughter just picked her up and boy is she flying high. I'm pooped! I had a pretty productive week. I got my table runner finished and have half of my napkins done. I got my Ott-Lite and really like it. At first I didn't think it would be enough light but it is and is really easy on the eyes. I put another one on my Christmas list. My husband was even impressed with it. We cleaned out the… Continue

Well, folks-it's done. The final chapter has been written for Book #1 of The Adventures of the Roseville Quilters. You have until Friday, November 5, 2010, to finish reading it. After that, the novel will disappear and I will start on Book #2.
It didn't hit me until last night that I did something many people want to do and even have on their "bucket list" to complete before they die!
It's hard to know if any publishing company would consider this to be worthy of printing… Continue

Abby is one of our own quilters granddaughter. She loves Fancy Nancy books. The publisher is running a contest right now and the top 20 girls will all get a book from the author. And one of the top 20 will have a character based one them in the up coming book. How cool is that. Abby is currently in the number 20 spot but the race is really close and she bounces from 15 to 21 because fewer than 20 votes seperate the 5 girls. If we could get 50 people to vote for her today, it would give her… Continue

Since moving out to the country 20 years ago, I could probably count on one hand the number of times we've been visited by trick or treaters. The houses here are pretty spread out and the center of this one-street-light town is at the intersection of two busy state highways so it's not a good place for kids to go around on Halloween night. I imagine their parents drive them to a few places or else take them to some of the nearby villages that have sidewalks and houses are closer… Continue

It was a beautiful quilt show, I tried to get a varieity for everyone to enjoy! Your thoughts and comments are most welcome, so… Continue

The big news this week is that Tuesday evening there was a small fire at school (started by a dishwasher) and school was cancelled for the rest of the week. An air quality test is being run again on Sunday to see if we can be allowed back in the school or not. But I was there last night and I can't imagine it will smell much better by Monday.
The birds are OK and home with me. I left the small furred critters there in my room, which seems to be not so bad since I don't have… Continue

I know I haven't blogged for a couple of days, sorry. I have been working on the plot for Book #2-(still yet to be named by the way) in order to wrap up the final chapter. It's a crazy thing, but one needs to know where they are going in order to bring the pieces all together.
Mr. Man Cave, Mark and I have been plotting and deciding this next book together. When Mr. Man Cave gets home from work, he's usually bombarded with all the scenarios I have come up during the day. Some he… Continue

I'm so happy... I finally got something accomplished today. It took me most of the day cause I took my time (still tired and weak from pneumonia) but I did 2 of the Block-of-The-Month club blocks. I have a to-do list with at least 20 unfinished projects on it and crossing something off the list is so satisfying. of course I'm starting with the easy things...and work my way up to the projects I'm having trouble wrapping my head around. We'll see what I can do through next week...I don't have to… Continue

Thanks for the compliments on my photo postings. Here's answers to your questions:
Breast cancer awareness fabric: I found fabrics at local quilt shop. Searched online and found it at www.suzannesquilts.com. There are several fabrics that coordinate with the one I used. On my pillowcase the pink dot just happened to match and the narrow band is a batik.
"Snap" bag: I didn't have the pattern but my sis showed me how.… Continue

the first day of this month and I haven't been around here much.
A universal happening that takes enormous emotional proportions and energy out of me yet everyone experiences first-hand at one point or another.
There's days where I feel like I'm sleepwalking through life.
I find comfort in needle, thread, and pulling stitches through cotton.
I think going to Houston next week will be more helpful for me than any
other year I've attended Festival.
So much… Continue

Here is a picture of me aka Alice from Resident Evil movies with Tyler, my vicious zombie killing dog. He thinks he's a bear though so don't tell him he's really wearing a dog costume :)

Back from quilt camp but that's for another post after I take photos of projects.
Wed. I completed a couple quick projects.
First are pillowcases for a cousin who is battling inflammatory breast cancer; receiving chemo, then bilateral mastectomy, then radiation. Needs prayer. Next are trick or treat bags for grandkids using "snap" bag pattern; in photo I cut off "snap" bands at top which are same fabrics as triangles at top.
Hope this post works as I am not to savy at… Continue
