Gift Tag Ornament Thingies

I know it's shocking that my project isn't snowmen but I have to make some non-snowman things so I have something to give away! I love Nancy Halvorsen and this project came from the Jingle All the Way book. These were so quick to make they ended up being fun. I LOVE a quick & easy project and these fit the bill. I decided to use the candy cane and holly designs since they…

HELP! Does anyone have any "Golden Afternoon" Fabric that they do not need?  Especially the large floral piece on the tan/yellow background.

sharpening rotary cutter blades

For those who have a rotary blade sharpener:

What type do you have?

How well does it work?

How many times can you resharpen a blade?

How do you dispose of your old blades?

How often do you sharpen/change out your blades?

What is that white stuff?

Yesterday we had a blizzard.  Course it didn't linger long but it was our first snow.  Winter is right around the corner.  Love winter.....lots of time inside to quilt, read and stitch....Judy

Cakes & Quilts!

Yep, that's what my day is full of-cakes and quilts! I am baking up another birthday cake for an office staff member at Lutheran High School this morning, then I am off to JoAnn's to buy some fabric or a Wilton gadget with my coupon, then back to decorate the cake. Then, after that it looks like I will be able to settle in and work on Miranda's quilt! Oh, and I am planning to squeeze in chapter 15 of the novel today...I hope. But, that won't be till tonight, so don't hover over your computer… Continue

City Blocks Community Quilt

I am amazed at how well scrap city blocks not only sew together but also how they look. They really do float. My group is going to use a red background fabric when we finish our 2 rows each. I just have to sew mine together.

I wonder what the history is of this idea? My photo was taken at one end on a chair so the sizes  seem to reduce - weird.…

Continue to show birthdays on QWU?

Here on Quilt With Us, we have always displayed today’s birthdays on the main page. Unfortunately, we are limited by our site platform to showing only the first 20 people alphabetically. Now that we've grown to over 27,000 members that means that half of the birthdays get left off. To the left on the main page, you will find a new poll. Should we keep the birthdays, or get rid of that section and make room for a different kind of feature? We are curious to know what you think, so please go…

More Birthday Celebrations

October was the BIG birthday month in our family, growing up.  First came mine (you know, the last shall be first thing), then 3 days later was Dad's, another 3 days my brother Gord and then we had to wait a whole 8 days for my sister Dot's.  TODAY is Dot's special day.  I made her this stitchery several years ago. It was a saying she told me about and I had one of those 'aha'… Continue

High Fiber—Family Visits, Part One

We have been on the road since Tuesday. In the car, I got a good start on the kilt hose for DH:

The knitting and the audiobooks make the time go by fast.

We arrived in Peru, IN, Thursday afternoon and have been having a nice visit with DS1 and his DW.

DS had the day off on Friday, so we took the pups (four, including ours and their Westies, Koko and Odie) to the dog park in…

Fall quilt-finally finished

I finally finished this quilt a few weeks ago.  I was beginning to think I wouldn't get it on the bed before it was time to switch to a Christmas quilt.

Fashion Club and picture of quilt follows.

A few weeks ago I asked what size to made baby quilts. I often make them 45x 45, but giving them away for Teen Mom club I wanted to save money and time. I end up cleaning out my closet and found eight to give away and I also made ten receiving blankets. The more I dig in my mess, the more unfinished top I am finding, only I was looking for material to make Treat or Treat bags with Fashion Club. The head teacher felt it would be a great start and some of the girls already love to sew. Isn't…

Bad News for Most of Us...

To save the economy, on October 29, 2011, President Obama will announce

that he is ordering the immigration department to start deporting

old people (instead of illegal's) in order to lower Social Security

and Medicare costs.

Old people are slower and easier to catch, and will not remember how to

get back home!

I started crying when I thought of you.

.......see you on the…
