Life can be quite challenge at times!
I have worked in the church office for the past almost 4 years and last Monday I gave notice. Partly because of some conflict and it is time for me to finally retire. I retired from a 30 year job and moved to Pendleton - and, after only 6 months, started part time in the church office which became full time 6 months later. So this is going to take some major adjusting with my budget. But, I know that God has always cared for me, and I do not…Continue
Someone quick take my computer away. Or rather take my EQ7 program away. I've made so many designs on the darn thing that I'll never get all of them done.
So Why is it I can play with EQ7 and make quilts and not be able to make a web site page? I really would like an answer to that one. A customer that comes into where I work has looked at all the designs that I've come up with and wants them. No says I. She's a really nice lady but a casual customer and I don't really trust her…Continue
I just realized that my last post was in August - been a long time. We spent most of the summer up in the pines and cedars of Mineral, CA, coming back to the valley to do major grocery shopping and the laundry, so I check on all of you from time to time.
We have been transporting our cranky, 14 year old cat back and forth because we couldn't bear to leave her home in 100 degree heat. She absolutely HATES getting in her travel box, so it's quite a chore to find her then disengage her…Continue
I completed this Mariner's Compass a couple weeks ago. Its machine pieced, hand applique and hand quilted. This one is going to some very good friends, whom we will visit next week in New Hampshire. I will make one for myself. It's 31 inches square.
Started BOM with Judy Laquidara 2009...just finished this week...It will be in our local quilt show this weekend. The border was too challenging at the time but as quilters we grow and I paper pieced the zigzag border and it was easy...Never had done 7 borders before. Glad it is finished. One more UFO under my belt. I named it "Sparkling…Continue
We had Vintage Stitchers this week. I guess you could call the people in our group quilting bees, because Utah is The Beehive State.
Julie finished the quilting on Carol's Crazy Chickens:
Barbara had two new quilts to give to Julie. This one, which is similar in pattern to the Pandora's Box quilt I made from DGD1, from…Continue
Finished the fabulous swap pillow…IT’S FABULOUS! I so want to keep it…I will have to make another one…eventually…the Cheshire grin really makes it! It’s about 11 inches square…10-15-11
The open back makes it easy to remove the pillow…Continue
NO navy blue tone on tones or solids. What happened????
Fons and Porter's recent magazine has this dynamite quilt for stash busting happy people like me and after tearing apart my sewing room closet (where the real stash is) I can't find a navy blue tone on tone! With quilt shops closing left and right, the thought of going to a quiltshop miles from my home just to buy a few yards of much needed navy blue tone/tone seems like a huge task. A good excuse to vacate the kitchen and…Continue
Finally!! I feel like I'm chasing my tail in circles here lately...thanks all for the kind words about my best friend Jenny's passing last month. Three days following her death, I found out that my ex-husand passed away suddenly at just 30 years of age! Then my brother-in-law got married and both my kids and husband were in the wedding, and, and, AND. Busy to say…Continue
Why do I get myself into something that I've never done before and it turns out to be a bit harder than it looks. I am trying to sew the blocks for my Oregon Trail Quilt and it doesn't come out right, the seams don't match up and the last two stirps don't even come close to fitting. I cut every piece according to directions so don't understand why. I'm ready to quit but may just change it and not do it the way they say but I have all these triangles and rectangles with 45 degree cuts and…Continue
Good morning all...
It's October and I've already posted my accomplishments for the goals that I've created in the past month. Yes, I'm still quilting on the queen-size sampler..getting the borders done. if I keep at it, hopefully I'll get it to the binding stage by the time I leave for Europe. I did finish the S-W quilt sampler which I posted several days ago.
Now for Pamela Druhen's "Vermont Window" buried in the suitcase from the Vermont quilt festival. I've pulled it out…Continue
the paper pieced heart for a pillow front continues...have the machine embroidered Cheshire cat face attached...think I may actually get the whole thing completed this weekend!
