Wonderful news to hear about Debbie being sprung from the hospital, at least we hope she was released and not an escapee. My mother actually did that a few years ago and when I found out about it, I returned her.
Debbie gets out and my DD was admitted this morning. She saw her OB doctor yesterday because of pains and checked out ok. This morning her leg was swollen and changing colors. (She of course text messaged this news to me while I'm at work) She also wanted to know if I…

I’ve been released. Yeah….The ankle bracelet is coming off. You don’t know how good this is going to feel. I haven’t seen a female other than a few nurses here and there since Nov 7th. I’ve finally got my white count up to a safe level so Today is coffee with the gals we call our “gym rats”, at Starbucks. I’ll bring my own as my mouth is still tender from all the blistering. Then when I get home it will be a nap and hopefully start the binding on a mystery quilt I did at…

All this recent talk about sewing machines, has brought a question to my mind that I want to throw out there for your consideration.
Have you used the new cardboard disposable bobbins in your home sewing machine(s)? They are usually from Superior Threads and come in packs of 10 or 12 of the same color thread. What has been your experience with them? What kind of machines do they work best on? Are they worth the cost?

I repainted my work room recently and am getting trim put back up. When it came time to repaint the bifold closet doors, it dawned on me they could become the flannet wall I have never had an open wall for.
Has anyone ever made a flannel wall? How did you attach the flannel- tightly stretched, hanging just from the top, backed by cardboard?
I'm open to all advice. Thanks!

Hello all!!!! Can anyone recommend a beginner sewing machine? I was thinking about buying my 9 yr old granddaughter one for Christmas. I want to stay away from the machines for kids, but something simple to use. She will be supervised at all times while using it. I found a Michley Lil' Sew & Sew 8-Stitch (at Walmart), very inexpensive and seemed to have good reviews. Does anyone know anything about this machine? Thanks!!!!

I came for a visit and to see if I could get caught up and when I scrolled down the page a little I almost had a heart attack. Seeing my face in all its glory and go big took my breath away. Oh, BJ you do things in a big way. lol At least the hair was attached….yesterday was “losing hair day”. I was ready for that because I know that the chemo is working if my hair goes to Hawaii without me. I told my chemo nurse that the next time I do this I think I’ll pick SUMMER. Being 28 and 29…

I usually don't play the lottery...mainly because I don't think to buy a ticket. But, a half BILLION dollars got my attention. Not that a hundred dollars wouldn't come in handy. A few million doesn't grab my attention...but this did. So, went into town and looked around at the parking lots to see if the stores looked busy. I didn't want to tie up the line...because having all my experience...I couldn't just do quick pick, I decided it had to be special numbers. The poor lady behind the…

I'll be honest, I'm not one for trying new tools out; usually I just make do with what I have. But I made a point to buy the Dritz Thermal Thimbles because I often burn my fingers while ironing, and I thought why not give these a shot. This past weekend I was working on a little project and the piecing was very small, so I was so excited to try these thimbles out! And oh…

Hope all have recovered from turkey day and Black Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and Cyber Monday! Phew! My fingers are tired from all that walking. LOL.
Went to see the orthopedic surgeon today for results of MRI and will be having surgery on Feb. 1st to remove some floating bone spurs, attached spurs, clean up some fraying on muscles/tendons and repair what appears to be several tears in and around the rotator cuff. At least now I have answers and pretty sure that this will…

The big news on the fiber front this week is my Dogwood Blossoms. The steeks are done.
In the photo, you can just see the front is cut open. The armscye steeks are also cut. I used my sewing machine to sew on each side of the cutting line before I took the scissors to it. I'm getting pretty…

I think, I should change my name to Lucy....I decided to make a double batch of stew on Saturday, so it could just bake away while we decorated the house. It was smelling oh so good. The phone rings, it's the son and wants us to come for dinner. The stew was too hot to put into the fridge, so I told my hubby to put it in the attic stairway where it is cold. We go and come home, sent him up to get it...now it's nighttime, why wouldn't you turn on the light? So, he misses the last step!!!! I…
