Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving...ours was so much fun with the boys. We were setting at the table and holding hands to pray. The 7 yr.old just started confirmation classes and his mom said do you want to start the prayer....he froze...looked like he was going to pass out! The 4 yr. old said...I know one! He starts reciting some commerical on tv...I thought we were going to fall off our chairs. We followed that with a real blessing with tears in our eyes.

Did any of you have any mishaps yesterday? I had a pumpkin and apple pie in the oven. Of course I timed my rolls wrong and they were ready to put in the oven and the pies weren't done. I went ahead and shoved them in anyway not realizing I had tipped my pies toward the back. I had apple juices and pumpkin running down the back of my oven all the way down to the bottom before I get things straightened up. I've spent an hour this morning scraping and scouring that oven to get it off. I…

I want to wish everyone in the US a safe and happy Thanksgiving. My DH & I are having a quiet day at home, but we are fixing a traditional holiday meal. Last yr we ended up eating at this cafe and the food was so bad that I swore I would rather fix a big meal just for the 2 of us than risk having yucky holiday food again. There is nothing like home cooked food for the holidays!

I would like to wish all our American friends a wonderful happy thanksgiving with family and friends. We are so lucky to live where we do and need to remember those in less fortunate parts of the world.

I love prep day...the house smells soooo great! I always bake my turkey the day before. This year I have a 14 lb. fresh turkey. I like to bake mine upside down so the juices run through the white meat when baking. I slather mayo on top first and salt and pepper. Bake in foil at 450 degrees. I let it set for an hour after baking. Carve it and put a can of turkey broth over the meat to soak in over night. Boil up the carcass for soup broth. Clean up the mess...gone to the garbage. I started…

Ok, still fighting the virus but I learned yesterday that I was not going to have to have knee surgery right away. I guess you have to find a silver lining wherever you can!
I know a lot of you are having guests for the weekend and believe it or not I almost forgot all about these caramel rolls! They are great for Thanksgiving morning! 5 min prep tonight, 30 min baking at 350 degrees in the morning. That's it! Your family and friends will LOVE them!
Plus, you can cut this…

So, I have everything I need for Thursday all organized and ready to go--what I didn't need was to come down with bronchitis! Goodness sakes! Why this week of all weeks? I have people coming and feel miserable! AUGH!
Well, I haven't had the energy to take photos of all of my recipes for the blog, but I still hope you can find something that will help you with the holiday ahead--Yesterday I featured Money Saving Salads and today I am featuring Money Saving Breakfasts! I have posted…

They say it never rains but it pours. The last two months one thing or another has happened. I had a plumber and furnace man here at the same time a couple of weeks ago. (unrelated problems). This was on top of running Bud back and forth to the hospital having his nose packed and unpacked and taking Jean for her appointments in Bangor. After the furnace man put a new part on the furnace it didn't fix the problem of the furnace shutting it self off. I called the office and requested someone…

Hello my dear quilting friends,
If you had been following my posts from the last 6 months or so, you know that my life has been in an upside down state for several months. We decided to buy this house in Pennsy and we closed. That was my last post. Now we're in and we're unpacking most of which is done but the basement has most of my quilting stuff in it and I hope to get going on setting it up very soon. We need heat in the basement especially for all those special machines that do…

After finishing the wedding quilt and working morning, afternoon and well into the evening, day after day, I made a decision and that was that I was never going to hand quilt another quilt but would learn more about machine quilting/free motion quilting. I do however have one more quilt that is about 75% completed and so I will need do this one more. It is for my grand daughter and since she is only 15 I will have it put away as a wedding quilt for her too. Since the Bears Paw quilt was…

It was a busy week, as usual, The little rug from my weaving class came off the loom. It's almost finished. I still need to decide the treatment for the fringe. Here's the front.
The back is the same as the front, except that the colors are reversed, and the clasps show up. You might remember from last week…

Thank you for the welcome. I'm excited to be a part of "Quilt with Us"! I'm not a very public person but I'm trying to come out of my shell :) I joined the Lasting Legacies BOM last night (bought the pattern) and will be going through my stash today to find fabric, get it washed and get my block(s) made in order to be caught up by the next month. Thanks again for the welcome!
