I am ready for wonderful year of cleaning up scrapes and learning to make small quilts. The CT quilt of the month looks like fun. May I have the time. Here is to also finishing all the UFO from 2013-2014. Hope you too can have lots of fun sewing.

Happy New Year to all; have a safe and fun celebration. Normally, DH and I would have gone out for a nice dinner, perhaps lobster even. But, we have been ill for the last week. Have had it all---sore throat, headache, runny nose, stuffy nose, cough, night sweats, etc. Maybe going out for a real celebration would knock it out of us or just make us feel worse. I've never had a cold like this one! Enough already!!
Last 2 nights we watched "Revelations"; excellent and true to the…

My roomy from nursing school (1973) retired last week. She was such a dedicated nurse. I made two lap size quilts from a vintage quilt top. That along with the book New Years Quilt from the Elm Creek series and chocolate bon bons, she should have a good start on retirement!
Have a Safe evening...looking forward to 2015!
Happy New…

The past few weeks have been busy! After 2 days of total exhaustion, I think I'm back in the game! No big plans for bringing in the new year, too many crazies on the road and as rural as we live it takes a bit of traveling to get anywhere to celebrate. I'm content with staying in and ringing in the new year with DH and the furrbabies. I have a bottle of wine chilling, and enough snacks to last out a blizzard. I just might stay in my pj's and sew in the New Year!
Here's wishing all of…

We had a fabulous Christmas with the kids and the grandkids! Now we are back at home with winter full on and the party is over. I have some souvenir weight that needs to be addressed but gaining it was waaaaay fun!
I have promised to give a copy of Murder by Gravity to one person who comments on the Kings River…

Christmas day at our house started out like this:
It execrated from there. In a word: Bedlam!
The day after Christmas is my birthday. Rather than go out to breakfast as we usually do, we ate at home and the ladies went out for pedicures. Miss Daphne got her first pedicure.…

I had grandma's doilies tucked away in a closet for years. As a gift to my sisters I made them into quilts to put on their night stands........Don't throw or tuck anything away if it has special meaning.......

I started to hand quilt this wallhanging a few years ago, but never got much done on it. For some reason it just didn't "sing" to me so I kept putting it aside. The other day I took out the hand quilting and machine quilted it instead as I decided it was way past time to get it done. I finished the binding & hanging sleeve today and am very happy with how it turned out. I still need to add a label. Normally I name my quilts, but so far I haven't come up with a name so I might end up…

I finally finished the baby quilt for the other half's daughter and granddaughter Abby. I would have finished it by Christmas but was suddenly distracted by wrapping Christmas presents.
Aiden on the other hand, had a very good Christmas. He finally got a chair that fits him. Hummm I wonder who taught him to sit sideways in the chair? Not…

I too want to send all of my QWU friends a very Merry Christmas. As I was on my way to do my grocery shopping this morning it was raining and just generally nasty out. But now it has cleared up and we are supposed to hit the low 50's by tomorrow. This will be the 1st year that our daughter has not had to work on Christmas Day so I am making an extra effort this year as far as dinner goes as it will be so nice to have her & her 2 boys here all day. Since she is normally working, the…

From the ‘Great White North’, except it’s not very white just yet. With a bit of luck, perhaps we’re going to have another easy winter and for that I’d be very very grateful.
I think back to January 2012 when we were clearing snow day after day and I honestly thought it would never end. That year, the snow coming off the roof eventually reached the point where it no longer had anywhere to go, so it just sat up there. …

This has been quite a year for our QWU family with births, illnesses, deaths, moves, fun trips, wild weather wreaking havoc, new machines, wonderful new creations, Pam's great adventures, and so much more. What a blessing each of you are to me. I am gifted daily by your thoughtfulness, inspiration, support, and prayers. To close I am leaving you with a picture our OUR Miss Bailey as she truly is a part of each of you as you have prayed her safely into this world. She is growing up way…

I remember my first Christmas adventure with Grandma. I was just a kid.
I remember tearing across town on my bike to visit her on the day my big sister dropped the bomb: "There is no Santa Claus," she jeered. "Even dummies know that!"
My Grandma was not the gushy kind, never had been. I fled to her that day because I knew she would be straight with me. I knew Grandma always told the truth, and I knew that the truth always went down a whole lot easier when swallowed with one of…
