I wanted to take a minute & wish everyone a very happy and safe 2017. This past year has had its challenges for many of us, but to be honest, that is life. It ebbs and it flows. I managed to reach my goal of getting the vast majority of my unquilted tops quilted, bound and labeled along with some projects I started & finished this year so I'm grateful to have been able to do that. My goal for next year is to get out a project I started piecing or appliquing, but never finished…Continue
Hello, all. Some of you know my dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in Nov. 2015. He was given 4 months to live - they said he might see the grass turn green in the spring. He accepted the news with grace and courage and opted to forego chemo or any treatment at all. That was the last time he doctored. He knew where he was going and was determined to live well whatever number of days the Lord granted him. He certainly did that. No rocking chair or moping for him. He not only…Continue
I belong to two guilds in the area, and I am VP/Project Coordinator for one of the guild the I belong to. This year instead of having our BOM we had a scavenger hunt. Each month I would give them 3 items and they needed to put them into one block. It could be appliqued, sewn, embroidered, painted, paper pieced. We gave them prizes for participation, and for persons that finished. Here is my quilt, finished. I tried to quilt each block with something from that block. In the border, I quilted…Continue
This is a quilt that I made for a shop sample to be displayed. Then I taught the Block of the Month for it. It is just the flimsy I have not quilted it yet.…Continue
I took my tree and trimmings down today for another year. I put my tree up the day after Thanksgiving and take it down the day after Christmas. Now it's business as usual.
I'm hoping to accomplish more now with all the activities surrounding the holidays behind me. I trust everyone had a super Christmas. Mine was quiet for the most part, except for the activity's at church. And hosting the Bingo group here at my place. I made some candy to put in boxes for loved one's who live out…Continue
The only crafting I got done on Christmas was cooking.…Continue
Over the holidays, our good friend was diagnosed with breast cancer (33yrs. old) She had pain and her doctor wanted to give her antibiotics and she said no I want a biopsy. She had mastitis in the past and knew this was different. She saved her own life by knowing her body. They are waiting for the genetic testing to come back to see how much surgery this will involve. Luckily she was clean in the lymph nodes. She will undergo chemo regardless. I made pillowcases to fit a 12x18 pillow and a…Continue
To all my fellow Quilters - A Very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year. Full of lots of projects and even more finishes.
I did some pin cushions for our guild members for our Christmas party. …Continue
Merry Christmas to all our family of quilters and people who sew...We are keeping a low profile and will continue to spread our Christmas cheer right here in North Carolina at home.
We wish you all a very Happy Healthy New Year..and I hope you get all you UFO's done...or at least somewhat finished. And start some great quilts that will…Continue
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. Ours is going to be kind of quiet this year. I hope to be able to spend quite a bit of time in my sewing room. We have gone from below zero temps to predicted temps of 65 on Christmas Day. More like spring weather than winter! But I'm sure it will get freezing cold again soon.
Raggedy Andy's jammies are done.…Continue
Christmas is a celebration of the birth of our Savior. I remember being shy and scared to death of getting up in front of people at church to recite my piece. On one occasion I stood behind a big plant and never heard the last of it from my older sister. The week before Christmas day was as exciting as the actual day. The special treat of divinity fudge and other goodies that Mum made just for Christmas. Going into the woods and picking out the Christmas tree. And the fun of decorating it.…Continue
Just wanted you to know how much this "Connecting Threads" made my day.
I was short a full color of yardage in a pkg. of a quilt that I was given for my birthday. So I e-mailed Connecting threads and told them of the situation...
I just received my fabric so I can finish my quilt that came from them...Wow what wonderful people.!
They go out of their way to make sure we have our fabric so we can finish our quilt..I am on my way to making this…Continue
We are getting our first blizzard for this Winter. I'm sure it's one of many to come. Looks like we will have a white Christmas, unless the rains come and wash it away.
Every year I tell myself that I'm going to make gifts all year to have at Christmas time but another year has come and I have nothing made. And when I did make something I either sold it or gave it away. So off to the stores I go for gifts. I hate shopping for anything. My fridge looks like a display in an…Continue
Raggedy Andy arrived Monday. I started on his cardigan right way.…Continue
I am blogging on Annette's site. http://annettesnyder.blogspot.com/
It is the end of the 50 states blog tour. Leave a message and maybe you will be the lucky winner of a genuine, toy jackalope. The jackalope is the legendary cross between jackrabbits and antelope. Are they real? No one is quite sure about that
Ok here is my dilemma...When I cut my fabric...I then start to put 2 pieces together,,,then when you add another piece....I have noticed,,,,,( for quite some time now this has been happening)
That the fabric has threads everywhere,,like it's unraveling....I get good quality fabircs....or even if I do go to Jo-Ann's Fabrics...It still unravels...and it's aggravating...So…Continue
We took a trip to Burlington, VT last week for a teaching conference. Decided since the weather was good, we drove through the Adirondacks. The area is in between seasons...waiting for snow for the skiers and snowmobiles...when I say isolated...I mean I almost peed my pants trying to find a place open!!! We stumbled on a quaint mom and pop cafe in Speculator. It was priceless, the waitress was cute as a button. They were from Vietnam. How they ever picked Speculator to call home. Soon you…Continue
