Hi, I am excited too! I love quilting although I am a novice. I have sewn for years. I am finishing a quilt for my one year old grandson. What projects are you all planning for the new year? I am trying to figure out what to try next.

I've never blogged before, I hope I get this right! I've been quilting for about 8 or 9 years, but I've been sewing since I was a little girl...... more years than I care to think about. My initial inspiration was Alex Andersen's quilting show..... I thought, " I can do that!" I've been hooked ever since. I didn't realize at the time, that quilting was a wee bit more complicated than what I thought. Boy, have I learned a lot since my first quilt and what a fun road it's been to travel!!! I'm… Continue

I am fairly new at quilting and would love to learn more on how to machine quilt. I received a new machine for Christmas and it has the ability to quilt. I have always send my quilts to a friend but would like to do my own. It is not a long arm so what would be the best way to quilt. I have tried pins but it does not seem to stay in place. And are stenciles the way to go when starting out like this? Thanks for your help.

I'm new at this-never blogged before! Hope I have time to keep up! I have been machine quilting for about two years now. I used to drool over my girlfriends projects-they have been quilters forever! They finally said why don't you learn to quilt-I am and I love it and am addicted. I just finished 5 quilts 52" x 66" for my neices and nephews for Christmas. I tried to pick fabric that went along with their interests-i.e., bugs, baseball, electric guitars etc. They seemed to like them. I try and… Continue

Hi everyone. Woke this morning to -22 - why do I live in MN again? Oh, yeah, the gorgeous summers. Thankfully, quilting makes the winter zoom right by. I started quilting in 1999 and it couldn't be more fun. I have sewn clothing since I was 10, but don't find the time to do that any more. I love piecing and would do it full time if I didn't have to work to support my fabric habit. Retirement is a few years off for me yet. I have also gotten into mid-arm quilting with my HQ 16, which I have had… Continue

This is the first time that I have ever blogged. Let me start out by wishing anyone who reads this a Happy New Year.
I am hoping to meet some new friends through this site that can help me as I am learning about this new blogging and about my new passion, quilting. I have not been quilting for too long but I am really enjoying it so much. Just finished a quilt for my granddaughter. And one for myself with a couple in the making. There is so much to learn and any hints anyone can share… Continue

Well, first day on here, and I am really looking forward to learning what I can from here. I really would like to be able to just sell quilts and not have a part time job, but that's another matter. Till later, then!

I am truly happy to have joined CT family of quilters. I have been machine piecing about 8 years now. I have many projects going and always finding another new project to start before the old one is completed. I think with all the ladies here I will of course find more to do and just might finish some of the UFO's.
Wishing you all the Happiest of New Years.

Happy New Year, the best is yet to come (as the saying goes). I am new to blogging so forgive me if I do not do this correctly.
I hope you all have a safe and Happy and Healthy New Year.
I would like to give Kuddos to CT for the great material they have. I made a great quilt from material purchased. It is waiting for the binding to be put on. I found this quilt that I loved and wanted to make but could not find the right material until one day I received the new catalog from CT.… Continue

Hello everyone and Happy New Year from Minnesota. It was -6 degrees this morning when I left for work. I've never blogged before so hopefully this works. My name is Jill and I've been quilting for about 8 years. I have many works in progress; all different types of quilts. I've lately been knitting as well so now have a stash of fabric and a stash of yarn. My husband retired in March and thank goodness he has hobbies so I don't feel bad retreating to my quilt area from time to time. Currently… Continue

I rarely join in on this sort of thing but I love Connecting Thread's products and catalogs so I decided to make an exception this time. I look forward to sharing quilting and sewing experiences with the rest of you. I hope you all have a fantastic 2009 and make lots of quilts.

What a fun way to start a new year. I have been quilting for about 16 years. I was a sewer before that which was handy since I had 3 daughters to dress. I live in Santa Maria, California and belong to a quilt guild and a friendship group. It is so wonderful to be sisters of the cloth with so many. I have purchased many kits from CT and have been pleased with the product. I have a fortune cookie fortune from a few years ago. It says "You will retire in material wealth". I did!!!!!!!!! Happy… Continue

What a wonderful way to start the new year by connecting with other quilters.
I have been quilting on and off for 20 years but havent' been serious until recently. I am looking forward to connecting with all of you and learning from you all.
I am from Abbotsford British Columbia in Canada - Abbotsford is just outside of Vancouver. It is neat to see that everyone else is from different parts of the continent - I have only discovered CT within the last year - what a wonderful place to… Continue

What a nice site to start the New Year. I'm Judy from South Carolina but sitting in the cold weather of Ohio with my children for the holidays but happy to go home on Saturday. I love quilting and just finished a civil war quilt for my honey. It's called Women's Voices and what a beautiful quilt when it was fininshed. I have to sew the binding to the back and will be done. I am looking forward to this site and group. Best wishes to everyone for 2009 and happy quilting.

Hi everyone, I'm Victoria from Michigan and I look forward to getting to know everyone! I have been learning to quilt for about 8 years. I love applique work and designing my own patterns. I prefer to hand quilt and I am learning to machine quilt. I have been sewing since I was about 7 and I would make clothes for my barbie dolls from old scraps of fabric and any worn out clothes I could sneak from my mom's rag bag.

Just joined! What a neat site! So glad CT did this. It's been fun to watch them grow! I made my first log cabin quilt out of CT's first "Irresistible Indigos" line... That line sold out before the magazines with the ads for it ever hit the shelves! Truth be told, I've been buying from CT long time before they started their own fabric lines... Anyhow, going to go check out more of this site, and of course, go quilting! Looking forward to 2009!

Hi to all. What a great site, and I was so excited this morning when upon checking my email that Connecting Threads has started this new endeavor. I am a 47 year old wife, mother, and grandmother from Bruceton Mills, West Virginia. It is interesting to read all the posts and see how quilting excites others' as it does me. I am a newbie, just getting started. The company I have worked for for 18 years is closing it's doors; and I have decided to take some "me" time and enjoy by grandchildren and… Continue
