I am married to a wonderful man, have two daughters, one son and three grand-children. I have been quilting a couple of years and must admit I am addicted! I do my sewing on "vintage" and "antique" Singer sewing machines. My favorites are my 401 for quilting and featherweights for peicing. I Love Connecting Threads Fabrics and Essential Thread and really appreciate the prices! What a great on-line Community this will be! Thank-you!

Hi, everyone! I am so excited to get started with this group! I retired in August from 40 years of police dispatching. I was really worried as to what I would do with my extra time.....I don't have any! I have been cleaning the cobwebs from the corners, reorganizing, and actually getting some projects done. My husband is the kindest, most understanding man in the world. He is still working in emergency services and may decide to retire next year.
I have 3 Yorkies (the boys) named… Continue

Hi Everyone!! I'm so happy to learn that this forum exists! Although I've been quilting since 1991, I feel like a beginner in SO many ways. I'm self-taught...like completely. While recovering from heart surgery in 1991 I decided to take up a hobby. My grandmother quilted (by hand) but I wanted more immediate results so I bought my first sewing machine. The lady at the store asked me if I'd need more bobbins because it only came with 3. I kinda looked at her and said, "When I figure out what a… Continue

Hello to all,
I am new here too. I have been quilting for quite a few years. I got into it totally by accident. My best friend had been trying to get me interested in quilting for a long time, but I was resistant. We were chatting one day about quilting and I was telling to her about a sewing machine that my Mother-In -Law had given me. Much to her
delight she told me it was a Featherweight. I had no idea what she was talking about, much less why she was so excited about it. So I… Continue

Hi there! This is my first time on a blog! My name is Lisa and I have been quilting since 2002 and I am totally addicted! I am also a full time math teacher and part time graduate school student, so for the time being I am down to quilting about once a week with my other quilting buddies--the Midnight Quilters. There are 6 of us in total, 5 in Coral Springs, FL and one who moved to Missouri, but we keep in touch and have a retreat with all of us once a year. I have many (about 5 or 6) projects… Continue

Hello, my name is Kim and I live in beautiful British Columbia, Canada (home of the 2010 winter Oympics!). I LOVE Connecting Threads and all their beautiful fabric. I am new to quilting - only been quilting for about 18 months, but I am HOOKED. Believe it or not, I have never sewed a day in my life before I started quilting! I am self-taught and sew every single day!! I have probably made at least 20 quilts and always have 2 or 3 on the go! I work from my home, so I can sew any time I like… Continue

Hi I'm new at this but thought it would be fun.
I have been quilting for about 35 years and love to learn new things.
I have really picked up the pace with quilting the past 7 years. I use quilting as my therapy since my youngest son passed away from a brain tumor 7 years ago.
I bought an embroidery machine in the past year and a half and I am having so much fun with it.
I wish I could retire from my job as a physical therapist but then I would not be able to afford my… Continue

Hello to all the fellow quilters! I just joined and hoping to have some fun and maybe learn something along the way. I've only been quilting about 6 years, so I know I've got a lot to learn. I took a class over the summer by Paula Reid on machine trapunto, so it seems like I've been doing a lot of that lately. If anyone ever gets a chance to take her class or even view her Stuff and Fluff video, I highly recommend it! Her work is fantastic and she does everything on a regular sized sewing… Continue

Hi! I just joined and wanted to say hi. I have been quilting since January of 1992 and as the years go by I fall more and more in love with it. I am addicted and not looking for any help, though scraps are always appreciated. LOL. Happy new year everyone!

I am fascinated with this web site and all the ideas available to us. I will be retiring soon and look forward to catching up on my quilting. I have approximately 14 quilt tops which need quilting. However, I have more joy in piecing together quilts than actually quilting. I enjoy making small projects that I can complete within a short time. I recently saw a book with many different types of Nativity Scene patterns which I hope to purchase some day. Thank you for reading and allowing me to be… Continue

Our Quilt of Life
If we stitch with care our quilt of life,
each seam may handle stress and strife.
Yet some stitches go and some we keep
in making each lovely block complete.
So as each day rolls slowly ‘round,
may all your threads be strong and sound,
and may the block you quilt today
be one you’ll always want to save!

This is awesome. I've been a quilter for 5 years or so. Been sewing it seems all my life - but you don't have to "fit" quilts - so it is my preferred right now. I'm married and have two children - one in high school (yikes) and one just graduated from college and is looking for a job/career (or whatever that pays). I look forward to meeting all of you. I'm currently working on a baby quilt for a shower I'm going to in Feb. I live in La Mirada, CA.

I just joined after spending a few hours reading and exploring the site. Everyone seems so nice. Hope to meet you all in time.
I just spent the last few days while on vacation tiling and grouting my entire kitchen wall and backsplash. Seems we quilters have a thing for taking small pieces and making large things from them! It looks great, I am a wreck! Not as young as I used to be. Gonna hurt in the morning for sure...
How many of us do DIY projects or even other crafts?… Continue

Michigan that is :) Just joined this AM. New to blogging & we'll see how it shakes out :)
I'm looking forward to doing more projects that I want to do in 09 & less projects that I *feel obligated* to do. I want time to PLAY in my sewing room.

I just signed up and I have been a quilter for 30 years. I live in the high mountains of Colorado so I do a lot of indoor stuff. I also love to Cross Stitch. My favorite quilts are the flannel and woodsie ones.
