Gifty Galore Free Pincushion Pattern

Here is our Free pattern for the month of September! Yes, another pincushion! This is a

larger pincushion and personally I like to have a large pincushion by my

sewing machine to gather all pins. That way, as I remove my pins from

whatever I'm sewing, I can…

Techniques 2010 - August is Foundation Paper Piecing month! - Week 4 is live!

This week I demonstrate using muslin as your base for foundation piecing. My personal favorite, Crazy Quilt blocks, work really well with the extra layer of fabric so it can hold all those heavy embellishments later. You can also use this method for strippy style quilt blocks. Both are excellent ways to use up… Continue

My how time flies! 20,000 members!!!!!!

Can you believe how fast we've grown?!! Why it seems like just yesterday we were celebrating 5,000 members! Our 20,000th member snuck by me this week when I wasn't looking (I might have been distracted by the batiks).

Susan Hedrick is our 20,000th member of our wonderful little Quilt With Us community. I'm sending Susan a $50 Connecting Threads gift card, just because.

Join me in welcoming… Continue

Groups and email notifications

I've just been alerted that our network is having a site-wide issue with groups and email notifications. Two of our own members have reported issues, either with not receiving email notifications when they are supposed to, or receiving email notifications when they're not supposed to.

The network is working on the problem, but they are behind and have not given me a time estimated. I'll keep you posted.

ch-ch-ch- changes!

Some of you may have noticed a few changes on the Connecting Threads web site today.

In addition to giving the web site a bit of a face lift, we've also lowered our fabric prices and introduced batiks and a new basics line, Quilters Candy, that will be available year round! The solids and semi-solids are only $3.96/yd. Prints are now $4.96/yd instead of $5.96. This is the same quality fabric, just at a lower…

The sample squares from Teri--finished!!

You may recall the sample squares I won last month--I did a modified stitch and flip to make my "coins" go in squares instead of the Chinese Coin strippy that Teri had done. I also added redwork and an embroidered panel to complete my "big top" look!! Thanks KP for the great squares!!

Win this Sampler! Flying Geese Quilted Pillow!

I'm very VERY new to quilting, but I decided to make my friends daughter (practically my niece) a pillow for her birthday. I was a bit ambitious with my first project, but I think it turned out rather cute. I used a flying geese block that I pulled from the Jitterbug quilt in Layer Cake, Jelly Roll and Charm Quilts by Pam & Nicky Lintott, which you can get here at Connecting Threads. I loved the dominance of…

The Birthday dilemma

This issue has been weighing on me for many weeks. Many of you know by now that we've discovered the network that hosts this site has some limitations. Specifically, on the home page, far right, down a little, there is a list of our members birthdays for the day. The limit to display has always been 20 per day, but in the past, our membership was not so large and most days everyone was displayed.

We've grown! And now that the list is alphabetically, it's very easy for us to see that… Continue
