been missing you!

it has been a long few months. I have had problems with my computer so took it down to the bare nessities. but she crashed any how. so now a new compter and a few months later I am back up and running!

I just posted some new pics for anyone that it interested in looking at them. it has been a long hot humid summer for me, ( a lot of you all to!) so have gotten some sewing done. I would make a few mini's then work on a big quilt for a change of pace, then some more small ones…

another day here

It has been a pretty busy week for me and it is not over yet! when it rains it pours and this is one of those weeks. in the meantime, in between this and that I did manage to finish my latest project. it is another mini and is fusable applique. it is a bit rough in spots, espicially the machine free motion. still getting used to that! in the mean time, the "blocks" are 3 1/2 " and the leaves them selves comes to about 3" have never done applique this small. was going to do hand applique on…

another MIni!

Just finished my latest Mini. this one is 11x14 including the boarder. yes it is PP. I used a pattern of Carol Doaks and there were d14 pieces to each of the quarter blocks. a lot smaller than I am used to! might of bitten off more than I could chew, but got 'er done this morning. I am really really starting to like the looks of the black for the back grounds. it really sets the colors off quite a bit better.

now question for you mini makers...........does the quarter block…

I am trying my hand at mini's now and am posting a few pics of them. two of them were paper pieces and the other was not. you can tell the differance. at least I can!

Finally Done

This is a picture of my first needle turn applique project! I sketched out the leaves from a very old pattern. it was pretty slow going at first, but got quicker as I got used to the technique. I also used my free motion foot to go around the leaves and do the "veins" for a first go I think that it came out pretty good ( yes, am patting myself on the back) the blocks are only 8" so you can get a good idea on how big it is.

Now on to my next project!…

freaky spring weather

Yes, the weather her in Maine is deffinately freaky this year. it feels more like the end of April than Mid March. nice warm weather really wants me to get outside and start cleaning up the yard. but call me a pessimist but I just know that we are going to get more snow! sure hope that I am wrong on that!

anyway, have been working on my next quilt. this is one that I have never done before, at least technique wise. I am doing an applique quilt with maple leaves and am doing…

Bueatiful day in Maine

here it is another nice day. though the wind is picking up. for-runner of the rain to come. anyway, spend the morning finishing up the binding on my last quilt. now I know why I really dont like to hand stitch them down! it takes so looonnnng to do! but boy is it worth the effort to do the hand stitching. this is the Delectable Mountain Quilt from Quilt a day and Eleanor Burns. this is the first time that I have done any quilting like this. think that It took me longer to do the free motion… Continue

small project for a rainy day

Yes, even here in Maine we get rain in Feb. at least it is not all the snow that just south of us got this past week!

after that last quilt that I did, I felt that I needed something small to do, so I made a table runner out of some FQ's that I got from CT. this is only the second runner that I have made and still flying by the seat of my pants. I just look to see what everyone else does and try to "follow" the pattern. anyway, it is a Carol Doak PP Mariners compass block…

another quilt finished

just finished up this quilt. spent the morning finishing up the binding, now it is in the washer to freshen it up. dont know what I will do with it, but it is done! getting better with the techniques, most of my corners match, only off by a smidge here and there. one of these days I will be satisified that all my corners match. now if I can get comfortable with the quilting! I used the "water/fire" on this one. think that it came out halfway decent. problems with the thread, it kept breaking…

another photo posted

HI all , I just posted two pics of my latest quilt. the quilt itself is not spectacular, just a nine patch. I had ordered material online and it did not come as expected, the orange is a pumpkin orange! not my "cup of tea" so to speak. so just did a sample quilt with the orange and rust to use up the material. the second pic is of the back. I was playing on my mid arm. ( still learning! ) and drew flowers all over it. I used a varigated brown thread for the back and I think that I like the back… Continue
