MISSING QUILT TOP

As many of you know, I work at a local quilt shop; Pieceful Quilting in Riverhead, New York.
As many quilt shop do, we have various Block of the Month programs throughout the year.
One such BOM is Women of Courage from Nancy Gere and Windham Fabrics.
This is a quilt designed by Denice Lipscomb.
This photo doesn't do this quilt justice.  It is a beautiful quilt that…

Happy Valentine's Day

Now for a funny Valentine's story.  When my husband (gotta love this guy) and I were out to dinner the other night I told him not to get me flowers this year for Valentine's Day.  They are too expensive and I would prefer 12 cans of my favorite soup.  That's right people, I said soup.
I won't go into the reasons why I want the soup except (aside from the obvious) for the most important one which is that it is the only…

Yesterday was a wacky day...thunder, rain, sunshine, thunder, darkness, rain, thunder, sunshine...simply crazy!
I cannot believe how long it's been since I posted.  Life has been really busy and every time I turn around there's another event to attend or a project to get working on.
Thank goodness I love it all!!!

My Little Pumpkin...

Yesterday I had a fantastic day sewing with some friends!

I actually made only two pillowcases because I was talking and laughing sew much.
My daughter called and asked me if they had left one of my grandson's favorite movies (BOLT) at the house last week...they did...she also "reminded" me that I said they could take "How the Grinch..." home and they didn't...sew could I mail them?  Of course!  Now what she doesn't know is that I made a pillowcase for my little guy out of…

Not so productive weekend...

Good Monday Morning!
My Sunday was not as productive as I had hoped it would be. :(
My son and his fiance were here until this morning so they were around all day yesterday.
That didn't leave me as much time to get the sewing done on the two quilts.
Don't get me wrong...I enjoy having the kids around ~ just not during a deadline!

Well, the piecing is complete on the Baseball Quilt for my wonderful brother.
It really is…

I made some progress on one of the two quilts I have to finish by Aug. 27th...I must be crazy!

This one is for my brother!  He just turned the big 50!  He is a major baseball fanatic!  Well, to be fair, he really loves all the sports (all my brothers do)!…

It's raining...it's pouring...quilts!

Actually ~ it really is raining...and raining...and raining!  It really is pouring but I do think we need the rain.  It has not rained in over a week ~ it is a good rain!
It also makes for a great day to sew!

And yes, sew I must!
I have to finish up the top for my nephew's wedding quilt (shower is August 28th).
The borders are in the works and it is looking very nice if I say sew myself!
BUT NOW ~ there is another special event for a very…

Another wedding...another shower...another quilt!

That's right...we received a 'save the date' and a shower invite this week.
The wedding is in October and the shower...well just 4 weeks away!
What's a quilter to do?
Without knowing the colors or decorating choices of the bride and groom you have to think neutral!

Sew...since I was off yesterday...it was a very busy and…

Inspired by a dress...

So today I finally found a beautiful dress for my son's upcoming wedding.  It is a really nice dress, fits like a glove except for the length (which will be altered of course!).  Now for a plus sizer to find a dress that fits perfectly is amazing and so I am even more pleased!
That's the good news...but there is more...
I saw a dress today that had many folds in it and, while it wasn't for me (I…

Expertise...or something better???

On the way home from work my daughter called.  She said, "I need your quilting expertise!"...My 3 year old grandson immediately started running around the house shouting "Extra Treats...Extra Treats!"  So, the next time someone asks you for your expertise...give them a treat!

I stepped on the grass...

...explanation required!

Those who know me know that I really do not like to step on the grass (or the sand at the beach, etc...).

Now, don't get me wrong ~ I am a country gal, not a city gal ~ just don't like to step on the grass!

Love to look out the window and see beautiful snowfalls, sunny days, even rainy days and yes the green grass and the pretty…
