Week 10 of 12 Weeks of Christmas is up!

Week 10 of 12 Weeks of Christmas pattern is up! The idea to create this mini wall hanging actually stems from a childhood memory. Each year around Christmas time, my sister and I would go over to my Aunts' house where they would have us help decorate their tree, complete with a train and of course...a warm cup of hot cocoa! This was a special time for my sister and I;…

Interested in learning embroidery?

I get lovely daily emails from one of my favorite design/DIY places: Design*Sponge, and I was delighted to find a really cute picture tutorial on various embroidery stitches, all sampled together within an embroidery hoop. This project is so cute! I would love to make this; it would be good practice for me.

Here's the blog posting…

A gift for a new baby.

So this isn't exactly quilting, but it's crafty. I've been making frames as gifts for many years, and I just started taking photos of them. This frame is for my husband's cousin's daughter, baby Georgia, born just 10 days ago. Her nursery is hot pink with green and orange accents, so I thought the flower stickers and jewels (hello bling! they live in Hollywood) would go nicely with a hot pink spray painted wooden frame I purchased at a crafts store.

I hope she likes it! (P.S. my…

Gifty Galore 2011: Style File

I like to sew up anything practical, so bags are a personal favorite of mine. I made this cute style file (or zippered portfolio case) from the book, Bags, Pillows & Pincushions. At first I thought maybe I would not use batiks for this project, but then I couldn't get over how pretty it might look in beautiful (bright!) fall colors. So, I paired up some red,…

Its official....I'm doing my first quilt!

I am very excited to announce I am working on my very first quilt. After practicing making some simple blocks, I think I'm ready. I'm not even letting my broken sewing machine get in the way, for a generous co-worker has lent me hers for the time being.

I've ordered my supplies, including my first rotary cutter! Yes, there will be an official ribbon-cutting ceremony for this event.

More details to come later as I devulge what pattern I've chosen and why!

Win this sampler! Check out my camera strap made out of Sip of Summer

I made a very practical and cute camera strap for my DSLR made out of

our Sip of Summer sampler. My 6 month old daughter Ella wanted to sew

too! Even though I gave her something in her hand to play with, she kept

grabbing my charm squares! Sewing this project took under an hour and I

had most of my sampler left over. I first sewed the charm squares

together, then ironed on fusible fleece. After that I quilted swirly

lines though it, and before I knew it I was… Continue
