With Spring upon us we here at Connecting Threads thought it was a good time to start freshening things up a bit. You might have noticed the start of Spring cleaning around here with a bit of a new look to the Quilt with Us background and fonts. This will be an ongoing theme throughout the year so watch for updates and…Continue
Let me start this off by saying that when I get around snowmen I feel like the littlest girl on Despicable Me does about Unicorns. “It’s so FLUFFY I’m gonna die!” That is totally how I feel about Snowmen!
Click on the picture to hear her say it, it's too funny!
I can’t let a season go without doing a few projects involving snowmen. I have hit and all-time high bar this year since I did end up getting a…Continue
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this Snow Flakes Mini Runner! It is absolutely adorable. First, of course, I love snowmen; second, it’s mini-- who doesn’t love mini?; and third, it was quick and easy. What a trifecta. This was super simple to make, no matching and the embroidery is primitive so it shouldn’t be perfect. It was fun to make all the different expressions…
The Abundance Table Runner was a fun pattern to sew; of course I loved it because it’s Quilt As You Go. I love the fact that once I’m done sewing I can just bind it and be done. I really liked the tree design and since it’s done in our…Continue
I know I’m beating a dead horse (really where did that saying come from? I know I could Google it but I’m just too lazy) but Quilt As You Go is amazing. Gudrun is really a genius when it comes to new applications for this technique. In the Peek A Boo Table Runner you see her cleverly curved lines. I really love how the colors from the…
Of course when the Shake It Up! Flannel fabric came in I LOVED it! I mean, snowmen and snow globes, forget about it! I knew I had to make a pillowcase out of it for my son. Christmas is a BIG deal in my house so he’s got several Christmas quilts but no pillowcase to go with them yet. Problem solved. These…Continue
We quilters know it takes time to get ready for any holiday, especially Christmas, so in order to give you lots of time to get your projects done, the majority of our Christmas prints come out in June/July. (Yes we know you still wait until November to actually sew the stuff, but let’s all just continue to pretend this will be the year we get it together and start early.) Jenni came up with this great new print called…Continue
I have been in an organizing mood something fierce this year. I’ve cleaned out every closet, drawer, and shelf in the house. We recently redid my sewing room and I reorganized most of that stuff when we moved but I was pulling together an embroidery project when I noticed the box of embroidery threads was a nest of partially used floss. I pulled it out and my son, who was in my sewing area looking out the window, came over to see what I was looking at. He and I sat down at my cutting table,…Continue
If this looks familiar it's because it was previously posted on the Notions blog but I like to post things here as well and for some reason it didn't post here so I'm adding it now, please forgive the repetition if you already saw it!
Four years ago I had a son whom I love beyond belief and we were overjoyed when he came into our lives. On the other hand I lost my coveted sewing room. I got shoved in with the spare room and had to consolidate, which is a nasty word when you are…Continue
I went on my very first quilt retreat last weekend and it was sooo much fun! There were seven of us girls, six of us traveled from around here and the seventh came from the Seattle area to meet us. We ate, we drank, we danced, we quilted, and we were most definitely merry! I even baked! Don't tell my husband though, he doesn't realize I know how to use the appliances and I'd like to keep it that way!
Fueled by coffee and chocolate I was able to make a cute…Continue
Boy, I sure don’t know how I got anything done before my son came along. At three he is in the “helping” stage and wants to help with EVERYTHING. God forbid any one flushes the toilet or throws anything in the trash themselves because apparently those are his jobs. Quilting, it seems, is not exempt from his help. I was trying to get my Autumn Berries Table Runner, from the book My…Continue
I have been meaning to “spring clean” my sewing room all year but kept putting it off. I thought maybe if I just bit the bullet and did it then it might jump start my holiday sewing. So I dug everything out of the walk-in closet --man can you cram a LOT of things in a small walk in closet! It was like a magician’s hat, stuff just kept coming out. Pretty soon I had enough stuff strewn haphazardly over the bed that I could have probably opened a quilt store. Then I was in a cleaning frenzy -…Continue
It’s October and Halloween is fast approaching. I just pulled out and dusted off my Halloween decorations and found my Through the Seasons Autumn Table Runner. I had forgotten how cute that pattern is! I did my to test the pattern so I don’t have it in our cute …Continue

Have I mentioned that I LOVE snowmen? Well I did indeed once again prove that fact. I was flipping through the book Stash Happy Patchwork and I came across this picture of sheets and pillowcases that had decorative hexagons paper pieced to them (see below) and from that I ended up with the idea to make a…Continue
I know it's shocking that my project isn't snowmen but I have to make some non-snowman things so I have something to give away! I love Nancy Halvorsen and this project came from the Jingle All the Way book. These were so quick to make they ended up being fun. I LOVE a quick & easy project and these fit the bill. I decided to use the candy cane and holly designs since they…Continue
I love snowmen, especially sassy ones! These cuties called to me as soon as I saw the…Continue
Who’s merry? I’m merry! Why you ask? Because I have a Merry Pillow that’s why! I LOVE Christmas, it’s my very favorite time of year. I also LOVE Nancy Halvorsen’s book Jingle All The Way which is where I got the pattern for this adorable…Continue
I finished the runner ages ago but I could only post it now since the table runner we are selling in our fabrics is published. This is a test runner I sewed for the designer, Kristin. It's the Winter Table Runner Kit available now in the Pineberry Collection or you could get the…Continue
