Opportunity Quilts

I took my opportunity fundraiser quilt, "Charlie's Quilt", to the Glendale Quilt Show, last month, and because attendance was slow due to rainy weather, I had a chance to talk with other quilters who had brought opportunity quilts.  I have posted pics of the opportunity quilts they brought on my regular blog, and they are all beautiful...but I have to admit this one from the Big Bear Quilt Guild is my favorite!  You can see them on my blog at…

Birthday Quilts

Last month my guild had Lyn Mann come to speak and give a workshop on Birthday Quilts, where you use your own birth month and day to create a quilt that is especially for your birthday.  The workshop was lots of fun.  I have posted pics on my personal blog, www.karenstenback.wordpress.com  .  Here is Lyn's quilt sample she made for us.  This is a good quilt to give as a 'personalized' gift using a person's 'special…

Have you seen this quilt?

A friend of mine is looking for this quilt pattern or quilt kit.  It was produced around the 1930s, she thinks.  Her mother made this quilt for her, and when their house burned down in a fire, the quilt also burned.  My friend would like to find the pattern or kit so she could make another one.  It is a fairy tale quilt, and includes Rapunzel, and several other princesses.   I searched for this quilt online, and found one quilt made from this pattern, and it is in a museum in Michigan.  This…

Hi all!

I have a new blog posting to continue my Road to California saga - this time I am writing about Cherrywood Fabrics, which is a company located in Brainerd, Minnesota.   Through a special dying process, their fabric has the look and depth of suede, and is absolutely gorgeous!

Here is a link to my blog, where I have more pics of their fabric and patterns:  www.karenstenback.wordpress.com…

Good morning!

I have posted pics of the class I took from Sue Spargo at Road to California on my personal blog, www.karenstenback.wordpress.com  .  I loved the class, and Sue was a Great teacher - very patient with all of us, as we struggled to learn how to embellish her basic designs, while tapping into our own creativity!  …

Bra quilts

Good morning!

My guild is having a challenge for our spring quilt show where participants decorate/quilt a bra.  They will be shown and/or auctioned off at our show in May.  Other guilds have done this as fundraisers for breast cancer awareness.   Some of them are wild!  I have posted some pics of the decorated bras on my blog, along with links to see the other bras in their show.

They look like so much fun to make!  I am for sure going to participate in my guild's…
