I'm getting close to done on my wall hanging. I only have 4 more snowflakes to sew on and I can trim and add binding. I'm thinking about adding a white piping to the binding. I'll see what it might look like when I get the snowflakes done.
I'm real happy with the way the leaves turned out. I'm starting on the flowers now and I think I'm really going to like them too.
Some of the details, the vine is three strands of pearl cotton held together and zig zagged down. The top is already quilted. The leaves and the flowers are fused with Wonder Under. I used a layer of…Continue
I don't think 67 is going to be enough! I'm real happy with how it looks though. I changed some of the stems at the bottom and I'm going to add another full vine coming off the left side near the short one and running over to the right, below the one that's already there.
The first part of my parts on this quilt is done. I did all of the blanket stitch applique on the borders. Next it'll go to a guild member that has a longarm to be quilted and then it'll come back to me for the binding. I really like the way this one is turning out. I can't wait to see what the quilter does with it. We'll give this one away the first weekend of December.…Continue
We have the majority unpacked now. I'm down to waiting for walls to be painted so I can hang things. We have the guest bedroom, the upstairs bathroom and the kitchen/entry left to paint. We only paint when hubby has a two day weekend and he only has them every three weeks.
But I'm really looking forward to this move! We're moving back to Kansas. Hubby is working at his old job in Oklahoma again but we're going to live in Kansas and he can drive to work. It's only 37 miles and not a bad drive at all.
I'll still hate…Continue
These wall hangings turned out just gorgeous. I used fabric from a bridesmaid dress I was coerced into wearing for my in laws 50th anniversary vow renewal ceremony. The dress fabric is the cornerstones in the outer border and the large star points. The smaller star points and the center are a really lovely silk I found at the quilt show in Denver in May.…Continue
This quilt is for my oldest granddaughter. The places where it looks like the fabric is white is actually a really, really pale pink. The missing block on the bottom row was at home on the design board.
I think we're going to move again soon. Hubby quit the job we moved here for. He had 1 day off in two months and was working mostly 12 hour days. And when you're on salary you don't get paid for that overtime so he was working for about half what he should have been making. He got a call to go apply for another job in another state just a few days after he quit though and he'll very likely get that job since it he was recommended by his old boss.…Continue
We picked up the truck last saturday and worked all day loading it. We had about 3 hours of work left on sunday morning to finish up.
We stopped on the way and had supper with my mom.
We got caught in a severe hail storm on I-70 just west of Limon. OMG!! It was very scary! My car is totaled and hubby's truck has 6K worth of damage!! I have two dents in my car that are from bigger than baseball size hail…Continue
Until i get to move!! Hubby has already been working at his new job for almost three weeks. The house is about packed up and ready to throw on a truck.
The girls are here and have made huge progress in just one day. The kitchen is 97% done. The sewing room is next. I expect this room to take more than one day though.
I have to go to Greeley on Sunday so I'll drop the girls off at my cousin's house on my way. They can have a couple of rest and goof off days. I'll pick them back up on my way back here on Monday after I get all the running around done in Greeley.…Continue
I have about a week and my middle granddaughter and the daughter of one of my first cousins will be here to help me pack. I figure the girls and I should be able to get it all packed in a week and a half to two weeks. I'm going to pay them each $300 and I'll still save a huge fortune over what a mover would charge and $300 bucks in the hands of 14 year olds is a fortune to them. Then it'll be another week and a half until we rent the truck and throw it all in a truck and drive…Continue
I have all the borders on the first of three "Memorial to a Bridesmaid Dress" wall hangings for me and my two sister in laws.
I only tried about 6 different fabrics for that last border! The cornerstone fabric and the large star point fabric is from the dress. The center square and the small star points are a silk fabric I found that's very close in color to the dress one of my sister in laws wore.…Continue
I love the way it turned out. Now I'll be looking forward to getting it quilted.
This block is from the "My Secret Garden" quilt in the book "Gathered From the Garden." I have two more blocks to make for this quilt. I changed the fabric circles in the center of the flowers to buttons. I'm going to add a couple of bumblebee and ladybug buttons here and there too.…Continue
Happy Mother's Day to a mom that chose an abusive step-father over her kid. I got her one anyway.
