I just got back from spending 2 weeks in Oklahoma with my daughter and family. Remember the Taggie Blankie I made for my granddaughter for Christmas? I got to see it "in action"! It is a favorite quiet toy during Sunday morning church. It is a favorite soothing toy for nap time. And no longer is it just a hat. Granddaughter pulls it off her head and giggles as we say "Peek-A-Boo"! She seems to have one favorite tag--the wide turquoise embroidered ribbon. That one has more texture to it than the… Continue

We finally got some measurable snow overnight! Schools are closed for the day so that means my usual activities are canceled. A sewing snow day for me! I'm having fun working out a scrappy snowman design. Plus I'm working with some old Grandmother's Flower Garden blocks. I guess I'm not happy unless I have several projects in the works at one time! Some days I wish I were one of those who sees a project to completion before starting another one. I would certainly have fewer UFOs that way!

I'm finally back to my quilting projects after many weeks away! Holiday company and travels took up two weeks in late December. Then studying income tax law and software took up most of 3 weeks in January! I teach a refresher class for a local group of AARP TaxAide volunteers. I spent many hours reviewing and learning what is new this year in order to be able to explain it to 12 students. Very intense and stressful! (But wonderful brain exercise!)
As promised, I finally posted a couple of… Continue

I've finished all the sewing I'd planned to do for Christmas presents. Company's coming so I have to clean up my sewing area (the dining room!). My machine is put away, along with all the in-progress machine stitched projects, but I've kept out some hand work. I know that sometime during the holidays I'll need to put a needle in my hand! A great stress-reliever!
A very Merry Christmas to everyone...may your Christmas projects be completed before Christmas Eve! :)

I've posted some new pictures--pictures of all the things I have been making for the little ones in my life. These little things don't use up many scraps, but they certainly are fun to make!
I can't wait to see how the 8-month-old likes all the tags on her "taggie blankie"! :)

I'm really getting caught up in the Christmas spirit now. Last night was our Advent Tea at church--an annual event that ALWAYS gets me in the true spirit! As is the case with most of you, I'm sure, I'm working on many sewing/quilting projects that are Christmas gifts. With the granddaughters getting bigger, I'm finding that lots of my sewing has to do with them. This year I'm making little aprons, doll clothes and doll quilts. More great ways to use up my stash of fabrics and trims! I'm having… Continue

While the turkey is in the oven, thought I'd take a few minutes to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. Hope you are enjoying a relaxing day with family and/or friends. Remember, the Christmas rush (sewing, shopping, baking, decorating, etc) begins tomorrow, so get rested up! :)

I've added some new pictures to my page. You can see some of the projects that I have been busy with. Probably the most exciting recent project is my book that has just been published by House of White Birches!!! Called Start With Scraps
, it contains 23 fun and easy projects that will help use up the scraps you have been saving. To preview it, go to www.clotilde.com
. The book can be ordered there, too. Perhaps it will show up in the Connecting… Continue

The birthday wishes I received from some of the quilters here brought me back...made me realize that it has been many months since I was on QWU! I've been thinking back on those months..guess I've been busy with family and quilting projects. I have been developing new patterns--that always takes time. First working out the idea on paper, then making the project, then writing the instructions, then packaging the whole thing. But I really enjoy it! If you go to… Continue

I can't believe how long I've been away from my blog! Where did April go? I missed most of it here because I was away for 3 weeks: first, looking in on my aging parents in Wisconsin, then spending 2 weeks in Oklahoma with my daughter and her newborn daughter. But, that didn't stop me from quilting. I had applique blocks along and a wall quilt to hand quilt. I made a lot of progress on both projects (probably more progress than I would have had I been at home!).
It was fun to see the CT… Continue

I've been busy sewing (and doing other things like volunteer work, shopping, cooking, cleaning) and haven't spent much time on the computer lately. Just wondering how others manage their time? It seems whenever I'm on the computer the HOURS can go by and I don't get anything else done! If I could, I'd spend ALL my time stitching!!! :)

Thought I'd put a few more pictures of quilts I have made on my page. I chose these because I'm ready for Spring! I think it is time for the world around me to be colored something other than white, gray, and dormant grass green! I don't have any Spring bulbs planted, so I can't look for any shoots to be popping out of the ground. One lady in church this morning told me that she has crocuses poking through, so that is a very good sign! I hope they are wearing their long underwear, tho, because… Continue

The quilt in the large picture on my page is called "Little Peepers". I made it for the Fons and Porter baby quilt contest in 2007. It did not win a prize, but it was published in their recent publication called "baby Quilts". Great fun to see my design in print! Has anyone else been published lately?
