Our second DGD arrived Friday night at 11p.m. weighing 6 lbs. 10 ozs. She had a hard time coming into the world but all is well now. Her name is Kenadie. This grandma is just too old for all this excitement. I also put a picture DGD #1. Alexandra is 3 weeks old now.…Continue
The first of our 2 new granddaughters arrived on Tuesday. Alexandra joined our family. Now the next one is due in the next week. I could hardly stand to leave her today. I think Grandpa felt the same. the…Continue
Did any of you have any mishaps yesterday? I had a pumpkin and apple pie in the oven. Of course I timed my rolls wrong and they were ready to put in the oven and the pies weren't done. I went ahead and shoved them in anyway not realizing I had tipped my pies toward the back. I had apple juices and pumpkin running down the back of my oven all the way down to the bottom before I get things straightened up. I've spent an hour this morning scraping and scouring that oven to get it off. I…Continue
I feel like I've finally accomplished something. I finished my DGS's quilt this morning. I also have receiving blankets and burp cloths made for the 2 new DGSs who are coming. I found the pumpkin wallhanging pattern and couldn't resist making it. It sure feels good to be done though. Now on to the next project.…Continue
I just got some great news. Our oldest DD just called to tell me they're having another baby. Our youngest DD is going to have a baby due March 31. This one is supposed to be 2 weeks earlier and right on my DGS's birthday. I'm in shock right now. I'm finishing quilting my DGS's quilt and have started one for the new baby. Now I have to start another one. William is more excited about getting a cat than a baby, though. He's taking it all in stride. Life is good!
I've been looking at the Grace SureStitch Stitch Regulator for my Brother PQ1500s machine. It's kind of pricey so wondered if anyone has this or have heard anything about it. I appreciate anything you gals can tell me.
Last night my DD announced that they're having a baby. I'm going to be a grandma again! My DGD is almost 10 so she was so excited. They just bought a 3 bedroom house in June so everything is falling in place. Now I've got to get another quilt going. We saw our DGS last weekend and he gave me painting lessons. He's our budding inventor. They just came back from North Carolina so he is inventing a crab sorting machine. LOL He wouldn't let me bring it home and put on the frig because he…Continue
This has been the worst morning. I went to get my binding out for my quilt and couldn't find it anywhere. I knew I had it all cut and in a baggie but looked for 3 hours. I don't think a tornado could do much more damage to my sewing room right now. I looked through every drawer, boxes of fabric, and my cabinet that is crammed full of fabric plus a closet. My tray on my sewing machine fell on the floor and dumped every little pin, feet, buttons, pens and who knows how much else. I did…Continue
I just had to tell about my new frixion gel pen. Maybe I'm late and you all know about them but I just discovered it. Better late than never. I've been using it and it's the best thing yet! It actually disappears with a touch of the iron. No more battling to get marks out. I've only used the black but would like to get some lighter colors to see if they work on dark fabric. If any of you have used them, give me your input.
It's been so long since I posted that I almost forgot how. Here's the quilts that I got done in time for Christmas. I made 2 of the pastels quilts so got 4 done which is really good for slow me. Now that I'm used to my Brother PQ1500s, I'm really going to town. I love that machine. I'm working on one for myself that I started quite a few years ago. It's just so nice to be able to spread everything out and work. The problem is that's all I want to do now. Eleanor Burns said the other…Continue
I haven't posted since spring. I don't know what happened to the time. The heat has been unbearable here. Everyday is over 100 and it doesn't look like there's any relief in sight. I have the house full of kids so it slows down quilting quite a bit but school starts on the 13th. I do have 2 quilt tops for Christmas done and one ready to put the blocks together. I've been…Continue
I'm making quilts for the kids for next Christmas and I finished one top this afternoon. I think this is the first time ever that I have got anything done this early. Usually I get into a slump after Christmas and lose a couple of months. The girls love cats and my 4 year old dgs loves dogs. Actually he thinks he's a dog. Next I have to start on my dgd's first communion dress and veil so qulting will have to wait a little. …Continue
I don't think I'm the only fabric hoarder out there but I confess I'm one. A couple of weeks ago I took my machine to get it serviced so took the chance to clean my whole sewing room. That is except "THE DREADED CLOSET!!!!" My husband made the entire closet into shelves and I love baskets, so it is full of baskets full of scraps of material and sometimes whole pieces as I found out. That's not counting the cabinet that is full of fabric. I have more empathy for hoarders now. I see them…Continue
I finally got my wallhanging done. I took my time on it the last 2 weeks because my friend isn't completely done with my gift. I think I ripped more than I sewed though. My goal is to make 3 quilts for my little girls for Christmas next year. I found a cute cat pattern so we'll see how it goes. Sometimes my intentions are good but getting them done is another story. My DGS loved his apron that I made him for Christmas. He put it on as soon as he opened it and it didn't come off all…Continue
I have to tell you about one of my Christmas presents. One of the kids I babysat for since he was 3 weeks old, asked me what I wanted for Christmas. He's a senior in high school and works a lot so I didn't want him to spend much on me. I told him to go to Harbor Freight and get me a pack of replacement blades for my rotary cutter. When I opened it, he had bought me 6 packages with 2 blades in each. With 12 new blades, I'll never have to buy them again! Everyone said they would fit the…Continue
I finished 2 more gifts today. I made an apron for my 3 year old DGS. He's our future chef. lol I also made some candle rugs. I still have a wallhanging to finish but we're not exchanging gifts until after Christmas so I still have next week to finish it. …Continue
I need help! I was changing the appearance on my page and everything locked up, my profile, blogs and everything. There is no reason why these should have locked up but they have and I can't the lock off. Can someone tell me what to do.
