The days may seem long but the weeks and months fly by. So many changes have happened in my life. My dear hubby needs more and more care. Keeps me busy. Not as much time for quilting these days but I still get some things done. Working on quilting a string quilt. I love picking out fabric, deciding on a pattern and piecing however the quilting part is not my favourite part. I even enjoy the quiet sitting down and hand stitching the binding down, more. It is taking three times as long to get… Continue

How time flies when we keep busy. I can't remember my last blog post. It's been a while. I've been busy working on quilt tops for family and vacation home. Some are ready for quilting and a few(I'm not saying how many) are not. I have 2 dresses to put zippers in and hem before the end of the month, very doable, and a couple of baby quilts in mid piecing stage. I'm not bored just drawn outside by the nice days we have been enjoying.
Winter was busy with some travel vacation time. I sis try… Continue

you know you have too much stuff in your quilting room when you have been looking for a project for months then discover it's been under your nose the whole time. Today i was cutting strips for a quilt project and was putting some away for another time when a certain container caught my eye. Lo and behold it's the very project I could not find for many months, just sitting there laughing at me, or so it seemed. Guess it is time for spring cleaning and sorting for my sewing room or maybe… Continue

First thank you to all the positive feed back from my post about lay last post. I have got the blocks pieced to my new sashings and it is looking pretty good. I'm working on the borders next. When they are on I will try to post a picture. Thanks to all for the encouraging words. Helped to motivate me to keep plugging along with it. And yes I'm sure my DD will love it and not notice the lost points.

You would think that after quilting all these years I would know better than to try to do it when I am tired. Well not me. I was tired and cranky and the finished blocks were not all the same size so instead of thinking, wait till tomorrow and take the two smaller ones apart and make the seams a bit narrower I did a really dumb thing and trimmed them all down to the smallest size. Loosing a bunch of points in the process and getting so fed up I was ready to toss the whole bunch. The only… Continue

what a beautiful day today is. Finally some signs of spring. The cardinals are singing and getting teriritorial. The sun is shinning and not a cloud in the sky. Snow is melting and I think the worst of the long bitter cold weather is behind us. Got some quilting done this last weekend. I'm all caught up with my LQS mystery quilt just in time for the next instalment on Saturday and have got 8blocks done for a string quilt. I'm beginning to suspect that scrap style quilt are my favourite. It… Continue

what was supposedl to be a light snow ending in the morning turned out to become a whole day event. At least the snow falling is lovely light flurries. I did some shovelling earlier thinking that the snow would shortly be finished. Haha the Joke is on me. Looks a like it will need to be done again.
I was able to spend some of yesterday and today in my sewing room trying to tidy up a bit. Seems to be a lost cause but I will persevere. At least the fabric in the shopping bags, I will not… Continue

another month has gone by. There were nice sunny days and cooler cloudy days. 4 days ago it was 20 degrees C and this morning we woke to snow flurries. Such is the weather in S.Ontario. Most but not all of the trees have dropped their leaves and a few are still turning to a bright beautiful red. So pretty to look at. A bit of quilting has been going on. The top for grandson #2 is done. Need to press the backing fabric and get the sandwich put together and start the quilting. Need to get my BCS… Continue

Well there has been two nice days of milder temperatures yesterday and today. We were able to remove most of the ice build up on the driveway. Yesterday We got some nice news. There is going to be a new little person joining the family clan. Now I can make 2 baby quilts. One for a dear friend who is having a boy in May and Auntie gets to make one for the newest little girl, who will be officially adopted in 6 weeks. The hardest part is deciding which pattern to make. The little boys will be a… Continue

Another week is past. Still have this cold. It just keeps hanging on and on. Flying last week was awful . By the time we landed I couldn't hear very much and the pressure was really uncomfortable. Hope I don't have to do that again. Enough of the whining for today. It is quilting day haha I say that every Friday . Sometimes it happens and sometimes not. Today I have to finish a 6" block for the mystery quilt I am working on. The next get together for the next instalment is tomorrow and I do not… Continue

Well I finally finished hand quilting my quilt I have been working on for "sigh"years. I took it on all vacations in the hopes there would be time to quilt.now it just needs the binding. I finished it in Florida on a rainy Friday. A good way to pass the time since I was also down with a nasty cold. Not a nice way to spend vacation time. But it is done and it is nice to be able to say those words. Now the only question is, what can I take the next time I am away? At least I will not have to… Continue

This morning went to my fav. LQS for this months Border Creek Station BOM instructions. Lots of excitement happening there. The lovely little shop,is being featured in the spring edition of Quilt Sampler. We were all smiling to hear about it and as a bonus we got to see a version of the shops feature quilt. So now have to finish a bit of laundry and head to my sewing room to get started on the 144 flying geese blocks then the two six inch "dessert block". Glad I got my studying done for… Continue

So I have started three new projects in the last 3months which means I now need to finish at least 3 of the quilts tops waiting to be quilted. At least 2 of them are pinned and waiting to hit my sewing machine. One of which is started at least. So I guess my goal in the sewing room is to finish one of them before spring. Then the next one before summer, then #3 before the I finish putting any of the new ones together. One is a mystery quilt, queen size, started in November, the next one was… Continue

Hello. Here I sit not quilting on my quilting day. Just taking a small break from making pillow cases. Four are completed five more to do. They are pretty easy to do as long as I don't mess up the measurements. I am trying to wait patiently for the 18th and the next block post. We'll break time is over. Back to the machine. Bye for now
