Like some of the rest of you, I too have gotten away from posting or doing much on here. Thanks Pam for the nudge.
For me I quit coming on a regular basis after my hubby retired, 6 years ago. Life dealt us some detours that were out of our control (for the most part). Started out 6 months after moving into our home I had a heart attack. No worries on that now as I am in better health than I have been for years. I have brought my chloresterol levels into normal ranges, all without…Continue
If you haven't heard, Bill Schroeder passed away May 13 at the age of 85. He and his wife have been an integral part of the quilting world for many years. They are the ones with the vision to start Paducah Quilt Museum, the yearly shows, which have brought us so many phenomenal quilts and quilters. Also in the publishing world they began AQ Magazine as well as many other publications. The accomplishments of Bill and Marilyn Schroeder are so numerous. An amazing couple to say the least. To…Continue
Most of us sit in our comfy chairs, looking at the comments, projects and photos we all share here on QWU. Usually we don't give a thought to what it takes to keep the site going. But when something isn't quite right, listen to us wonder what's going on. Questions and theories get tossed around amongst us. Is it this or that? Oh no, hope it doesn't stay this way. The comments are varied. Well today when it happened we soon found out that due to the IT person moving away several others were…Continue
The scene from our new home is ever changing. Early morning sunrises are as varied as each day, as are the sunsets. We have a gorgeous view from our deck and on a morning a couple days ago I was fortunate to capture these photos. Mt. Baker towers to the northeast of us and the second is to the southeast through the trees. The waters of Puget Sound are between us and the mainland. What a view to enjoy as I sit and quilt. I have this scene from the living room, kitchen, bedroom as well as my…Continue
What an exciting day it was. I had the awesome opportunity to meet up with Jennie and Roz from New York as they passed through Seattle on their way to catch the Quilt Cruise to Alaska this past weekend. They arrived in Seattle Friday afternoon and I met up with them at their hotel in Seattle. We shared a wonderful four hours together. We sat and visited, had a little show n' tell as I brought my latest Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt along. We had been making them from 'Quiltmaker' magazine via…Continue
I am in need of 1/3 to 1/2 yard of each of the pictured fabrics from the 'Whirlwind Romance' collection from 2011. I need to make 4 more bargello strips to complete my quilt top. I will pay for the fabric and postage to get it to me. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Just leave me a note here or on my page and we'll get in touch.…Continue
We saw the new reds, and we were smitten. Ooo's and aaah's could be heard from us. We started ordering some fabrics and kits a week ago today. If others were like me, more of them were put on 'wish lists' to be ordered as soon as we could swing it. Well that day arrived, and guess what? Yep, they're already SOLD OUT! I just went to order the 'Inferno' kit, the bag kit and some yardage, one of which was 5501. All to find out they are GONE!!! I do believe Connecting Threads is setting some…Continue
You gals (& Matt) have done it again! The new fabrics released yesterday are wonderful - AGAIN. Was there ever any doubt they would have some wonderful new offerings? And the new laminates! What a wonderful suprise they are! So many useful items to be made with them. And all the wonderful new kits to sew up. All I can say is WOW. Love them.
Now for the heads-up ladies. Just got my order confirmation from yesterday morning. I had placed my order by 8:14 a.m. and would you believe…Continue
It was well worth all the month's of preparation. The entire day was full of special moments and memories that will be cherished forever! Doing everything ourselves made it all the more special. From the napkins to the decorating, to the flowers. All things came together perfectly. She was such a beautiful bride & he was a very handsome groom. We have a very special SIL now that adores our daughter. They love the quilt I made. It was a pattern in the April issue of "QUILT" magazine. I…Continue
