I have been doing alterations for many year but yesterday I was taking the hem out of a Winter coat and found in the whole width of the hem a black powder that looked like gun powder. I was up at the hall with friends and they agreed with me. So they suggested I call the police to check out the substance. I didn't have my phone with me so one of the ladies called. They came and said it was probably some rotted thin rubber that is sometimes put in garments and not to be alarmed. Has anyone…Continue
I'm so excited to tell you the women who's been renting my house decided to buy it. We did the closing today. This has been a burden on me for a long time.
It is a nice sunny morning here in the East but very cold. Good weather to sit and sew. But lately I have found that other things have been chewing up my time and keeping me from my sewing room. I'm working on another baby quilt. I have a lot of UFO's to finish once these quilts are done.
I'm enjoying the quilting guild that I joined a year ago. We have a page on F B. It's called St. Croix International Quilters. Lots of pictures to see.
I belong to three sewing groups. I get…Continue
I find it hard to believe this year is close to the end. I have always heard that time flies when you're having fun. I didn't get as much accomplished as I had hoped for but work came before pleasure and it supports my fabric addiction.
Tomorrow I will be taking down my decorations. They have been out since the day after Thanksgiving. I have some alterations to complete and then I hope I can get back to my own projects. I enjoy the three sewing groups I belong too.
It's going to take awhile for me to catch up on all your blogs. My computer went to the shop a month ago and I just got it back yesterday.
I have started two quilts, made some progress on a Wall hanging and at the present time cleaning out things I don't need in my sewing room and reorganizing the closet. I also cleaned my bedroom closet and got rid of a bunch of stuff.
We had a very hot Summer so I'm glad the weather is cooler so I can sit and sew without melting. I'm…Continue
It's a dull day here in the East and I plan to hit the sewing machines as soon as I can get the gumption to get out of this chair, and get dressed. Tues. I walked across town to vote at the elementary school. Yesterday I washed all the floors and rearranged some furniture and today I haven't got enough energy to pull a hat off my head. Old age is NOT my friend. I'm going to a church Supper tonight. I thought it was yesterday. After I got my floors done I took a shower and changed my clothes…Continue
Last week I started a cover to put over a big screen t.v. I don't remember leaving one of my land line phones on the ironing board in the sewing room but I laid the t.v. cover over it. I have been tearing this apartment apart all week looking for that phone. Even went to the garbage bin thinking I might have thrown it in a trash bag. Can't you just picture me going through those bags I put out there? Perhaps the neighbors just thought I had taken up a new hobby "Dumpster Diving". I tried…Continue
I had the opportunity recently to take a free motion quilt class. It was a fun day. I still have a lot to learn but did pretty good for a beginner. I didn't know you had to lower your feed dogs and pull the bobbin thread up. A little knowledge makes things much easier. I joined the Quilters Guild a couple of months ago. Now I belong to three sewing groups.
Yesterday I decided to tear up my little garden spot so I can re-plant and add new plants. I'm so sore today I…Continue
Just checking in to say hello to all my Quilting Friends.
I have had a fairly productive Winter so far. I got a third quilt back from the LAQ yesterday but have to put the binding on before I take a picture. I started working on a Sunbonnet Sue for my second great granddaughter. I'm also working on a wall hanging when I go to our Sewing Club. I can't believe how fast the time flies. Our Snow Birds will be packing up and moving back to their homes before too long.
Where does the time go? It's hard to believe that Christmas is over. We, along with a lot of other States got plenty of snow on Christmas Day. Ours is light and fluffy but it kept the men busy keeping it plowed.
I had a quiet Christmas with just my son and his girlfriend coming for dinner.
My head is swirling with all the projects I want to work on the rest of the Winter. I got a couple of Christmas books with patterns that I would like to make.
Enjoy the rest of…Continue
It's hard to believe that Christmas is just day's away. This will be a busy week. Cooking and attending Christmas events. I'm in the church choir and we have been practicing the Christmas Cantata for Christmas Eve. My son John and his girlfriend will be coming for Christmas dinner. Here's wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Hello my quilting friends. It's been awhile since I posted so thought I would stop by and say hello. I have been busy today rearranging my closets to make room for a three drawer plastic storage unit that was given to me. The lady who has gifted me with her fabric stash gave me this unit. I will put it to good use. It's 24 wide and 25 high. Should hold a fair amount of fabric. With all the stuff in the closet out in the middle of the floor my sewing room looks like a bomb hit…Continue
I have had a very busy week. Bud took a critical turn for the worse and I went to Machias 4 times last week. He died late Sunday night. It's a blessing, his dementia was at it's peak and he was nothing more then a skeleton. His son is coming the 27th and the graveside service will be held on the 29th. He will be buried with military honor's. A CD of him and his friend, Frank will be played as well.
On a more cherry note I spent the day up at the hall on Tues. and got a lot of my…Continue
