Hello from Maine

Snow flurries here this morning.  Like we need to see that.  But the temps have been warm for the most part. It won't last, so not fretting about it.  Have had a few health problems the past two months. UTI followed by a massive hives breakout from the antibiotic I took for the UTI. The doctor is still trying to get my Cumidin level adjusted back to normal. So it's back and forth to the lab at the hospital trying to get it back to normal.  Bud is on Palliative Care now.  He hasn't been doing…

This is a quilt that was brought to me to put a binding on.  The man's mother died before she got it finished. If anyone can tell me what the star pattern is called I would love to know.  All the books with stars that I have don't have this pattern in it.…

My granddog Katy

I'm dog sitting this weekend.  This is the first time I have met this sweet dog.  I still miss Holly so I'm really loving having Katy here with me.  She is a Pit Bull mix.  She lives in Gordonville Canada.  My son got her from a shelter in Ontario.  He had a hard time getting her to come into the apartment but once he left she and I bonded quickly.  I might lock the door when I see him coming so he can't take her home. lol…

My house

The tenants that rented my house for 6 month have left.  Leaving behind two months unpaid rent and leaving the house and yard in the worst mess you can ever imagine.  Plugged toilet, ( I poured a half gal. of liquid plummer down it and left it for two days.  I had to do a lot of plunging but it gave way after awhile) and trash in every room.  I have been over there all week cleaning and bagging up trash.  I have to have a dumpster to hold it all.  But behind every dark cloud is a silver…

Back to normal.

I took my tree and trimmings down today for another year.  I put my tree up the day after Thanksgiving and take it down the day after Christmas. Now it's business as usual.

I'm hoping to accomplish more now with all the activities surrounding the holidays behind me.  I trust everyone had a super Christmas. Mine was quiet for the most part, except for the activity's at church. And hosting the Bingo group here at my place.  I made some candy to put in boxes for loved one's who live out…

Remembering Christmas as a child

Christmas is a celebration of the birth of our Savior. I remember being shy and scared to death of getting up in front of people at church to recite my piece. On one occasion I stood behind a big plant and never heard the last of it from my older sister. The week before Christmas day was as exciting as the actual day. The special treat of divinity fudge and other goodies that Mum made just for Christmas.  Going into the woods and picking out the Christmas tree.  And the fun of decorating it.…

Let it Snow

We are getting our first blizzard for this Winter.  I'm sure it's one of many to come.  Looks like we will have a white Christmas, unless the rains come and wash it away.

Every year I tell myself that I'm going to make gifts all year to have at Christmas time but another year has come and I have nothing made.  And when I did make something I either sold it or gave it away. So off to the stores I go for gifts.  I hate shopping for anything.  My fridge looks like a display in an…

Felt Purse

I made a felt purse out of a home knit sweater that was too large for my client.  The dragon fly was knit into the sweater and I made a pocket out of it. I lined it and put the flap on. When you go to my pictures and click on the picture it will give you an option to view it full size.

Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone

Our second dusting of snow arrived last night. It's melting fast but from the looks of the weekend weather forecast we have some nasty weather to look forward too.  But what can I say, it Winter in Maine and it's just the beginning of what's to come.

I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.  The day after, I will be dragging out my Christmas trimmings and decorating the apartment.  After the holidays I like the slow pace of Winter. Staying in where it's, warm working on sewing…

I'm still here, in case your wondering

This Summer and Fall have been super busy in my life and also my sewing room. Lots of alterations all Summer plus the usual Summer activities. No court date yet. It keeps getting postponed.

I'm working on a quilt called Wild Flower by MSQC.  I'm hoping to get two of them done for my two youngest granddaughters. I haven't picked a pattern yet for their brother.  I would like to get them done for Christmas but with company in Sept. and also Oct.  I'm running behind on them.  Burning…

It's been a busy Summer

Hello my quilting friends,

Just stopping by to say hello.  My friend Jenny is here from England for a couple of weeks.  The sewing machines have been humming.  I helped her yesterday make a zig zag table runner.  It's been awhile since I made one so it gave my brain a bit of work-out trying to remember all the steps.  But it's done and she loves it.

The end of the week Bud's son is driving up from N.Y.  I am in the most bizarre situation.  Bud's ex girlfriend whom he hasn't…

Sisters hands

I was taking my turn sitting beside my sister holding her.  I fell asleep holding her hand and I was given this picture yesterday at the funeral.  The next day she drew her last labored breath.  The funeral was a celebration with my cousin reading several memories of her.  There was some funny stories which depicted her to a T.  She will be missed.…

Today at 3:45 p.m my sister passed away with her family and caregivers at her bedside.  She has struggled with this disease since 2009.  The past few weeks has been a really hard time for her. She had to gasp for air. Will miss her dearly.

Small project leads to bigger one

Yesterday I set out to cut scraps into different size squares, depending on the size of the scrap.  I hauled out my box of scraps and started sorting them in colors stacking them on my "double" bed. I had so many scraps that I ran out of space on the bed so decided to go to WM and buy another stack of those plastic drawers. I got two stacks (6) draws. Then the task was to make room in my sewing room closet for this extra set of drawers.  This was no small task hauling everything out of the…

My new way to store fabric in draws.

Yesterday I spent organizing fabric in my draws and on shelves.  I decided to make it easier then pawing through a draw for fabric that I would stand it up.  Do any of you girls store your this way? …

Windfall of fabric

Getting ready to wash this fabric.  Over 40 yards, some pieces have over 4 yards in them.  A lady is cleaning out her house and gave me this stash.  I will make her a few things out of it to show her my appreciation.

My sister Jean is in her finally stage of cancer.  She is home and gets to the table to eat but is on oxygen full time and pain pills.  The cancer in her lung is pressing against the nerves in her shoulder and causing her much pain.  If this isn't bad enough her new born…

Winter table runner

I made this table runner to put in a Christmas basket to be raffled off at our craft sale today.  I found the pattern in  HERE COMES WINTER  book by That Patchwork place.  It is actually a part of a wall hanging pattern.…

My new sewing room

Hi Ladies, I know you have been looking forward to seeing my sewing room here at the apartment. I finally took some photo's yesterday.  The two pictures of the closet is sideways.  I rotated them but when they came up on here they are sideways.  My ironing station is in front of this double closet.  When not in use there is room to store my ironing board behind the door.  I had my two matching sewing machine cabinets made locally in Canada.  The other one I have had for many years. It has a…
