I promised to post the picture of the quilt I was repairing for my daughter. I made this some 30 years ago from a pattern in a magazine. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the pattern. The repairs were to the cream colored borders. For some reason the fabric where I had hand stitched the quilting had caused the fabric to start ripping. I didn't have the cream colored floral print I originally used but I do have the blue fabric which as it turned out I didn't need to use. …Continue
Just dropped in to say hi to everyone. Not much new is going on. I've been working on repairing DD's quilt that I make for her decades ago. Sounds horrible that way but it was one of the first quilts I made. Once I get finished with it, I will take it to DD's house and take a picture of it to show everyone. I will be working on thanksgiving day as usual so to all I wish a happy thanksgiving day.
I went to work yesterday and had a runny nose all morning. I finally gave up and came home at lunch time. So my boss does know that I am sick and never questions my missing time which by the way is only the 6th or 7th time I've ever called out sick in nearly 20 years of work. After spending yesterday and all night in bed the last thing I want to do is go back to bed but not quite well enough to go to work. So what does one do when your sick and bored?
We are still living in the RV…Continue
I gave my new embroidery machine a run for it's money last night. Now I'm sure every one has an idea of what I am making for my grandson. So far Mario and Bowser are finished. I still have several more characters to stitch out but I will be getting them done within the month.…Continue
As some of you know I have been trying to make a quilt for my grandson. The quilt part is finished but I needed to make some embroidered designs to applique onto the quilt. I had a singer quantum 6000 that I loved but the special bobbin for rewinding the bobbin thread broke and I couldn't find any online anywhere. So that machine went bye-bye and I bought a Brother PE800 machine. Well I have been trying and trying and trying to get my designs to stitch out without much luck. Yesterday…Continue
Life in an RV is a little to cramped for me. I have been working on a few things. Besides buying a sitdown quilting machine, I also bought a new embroidery machine. I've been working on some designs that I hope to get embroidered soon. It's the quilt I've been planning for Aiden for the last couple years. I've got the designs ready and hoping the in-laws will let me use their dinning table to work on. If that works out I just might get the quilt finished in time for Christmas. My…Continue
congrats to BJ on her quilt touring the country and to Pam for her post as well. As for me, well I am sitting in a small RV. We finally sold the house. My other half is still waiting for L & I to do something about his back. We didn't get as much out of our house as we expected to due to some shifty work by the mortgage company. I am still working but between the 2 of us we just aren't getting enough to afford even an apartment in our area. Because this RV is so small, I just don't…Continue
Finally finished the quilt for grandson Aiden. He picked out the floral print and the white fabric in the center of the blue blocks. Sense they didn't quite go together I came up with this design and used the fabrics Aiden liked. I hope that I will be able to get this quilted before christmas. I start this project using a light blue that I ran out of after making half the blocks I needed. Once I found the turquoise color I decided to start over and worked out the quilt below. As for…Continue
The picture below is a pair of blocks I've been working on. the dark blue with the white center is only one of three different blocks that will be in the quilt. It may take me a while to finally get all the blocks put together but then I do have until christmas to get it finished. LOL Seems to me I said that about another quilt that I am working on for my grandson. still not finished with that one either. The 2nd picture is the first row of blocks to be put together.…Continue
I bought a new Brother sewing machine almost 2 years ago. I've been working on the applique project posted earlier. Suddenly the darn machine doesn't want to work right. I tried cleaning lint out, changed bobbin, re-threaded I don't know how many times to no avail. I called the store that I bought it from and they said I could bring the machine in and that they would look at it. I asked how much sense it was over a year old. $179.00 Hummmmm I'll fix it myself thank you very much. …Continue
Design clipart from the internet. Redesigned in my EQ7 program and cut out on my cricut cutter. Ironed on to my current quilt block. Now all I have to do is stitch them down and finish my quilt. This just opened up a ton of Ideas. HONEY I need more fabric!!!!…Continue
I've been on vacation this week and while trying to work on the house I also found time to try and work on my quilt. The picture below is the never gonna make it again quilt on the new floor in our living room. Everything was going great until I walked around and discovered that the backing on the far end of the quilt was not long enough. I probably could have stretched the backing more but I wasn't in the mood. I had already taped the backing to the floor and laid everything out and…Continue
So previously I posted a picture of my version of the broken star quilt that I will never make again. See photo below. Today I spent most of the day learning how to use the Cricut Maker that I bought last year. I posted a photo before of the designs that I wanted to put onto this quilt. Well I finally got them cut out and ready to transfer to the quilt. I've put in a request to use my daughters floor sense she has a big house and open floor space to lay out the quilt and trace the…Continue
It's been kind of quiet around our house this evening. I hope it stays that way. I do have to get up and go to work in the morning. Yes I am the greedy one. How can I resist making nearly triple the wages I normally get for holiday pay. I can't! I told everyone how my sweet other half set up my sewing machines for me last week. Well I have yet to sew anything worth while. I did get to test out my new quilting machine and it seems to work just fine although it's going to take a while…Continue
I hope everyone is having a very merry Christmas. Normally I would have been on here early this morning before going to work but for some reason I just never got here. Yes I do work on holidays. I get paid too much not to work! It has been an interesting few months around here. We are still trying to get our house fixed up and ready to sell. This has been an extremely slow process for us so we have decided to hold out till spring and sell the house. Most of the major work has been…Continue
It's me, it just has to be me. It never fails that when I want to make something I can't. Still trying to get the house finished up and sold. I have a few ideas that I really want to work on but no where to work at. Our house is basically empty so that we can paint and fix the things we discovered were not up to code. Maybe I should stop thinking about all the things that I want to do while I'm painting or cleaning. I finally sold my Tin Lizzie long arm machine, and bought the Handi…Continue
Seems like my life is always throwing me curves. I finally got my broken arrow quilt top finished with the extra borders. Sorry I don't have a picture of it as it is now packed and going into storage. Almost a year ago My other half injured his back at work. He would work, couldn't work for a few months and L and I of course paid wouldn't pay for his time off. He's been off work now sense April and we are going through the getting paid not getting paid by L and I. So this has forced us…Continue
Ok so there are a few things going on with my quilt. I bought my longarm because of my bad shoulder. Well after finishing the quilt (posting a better picture below) I realized it would look better quilted by hand. Problem #2 I discovered my quilt frame that my mom and dad made for me years ago was left outside. Sanding and refinishing them. While working on the frames I discovered that my mom had stamped her initials and the year she made the frame for me. That hit me kind of hard. So…Continue
Some of you may know this quilt as a broken star. I am renaming it the quilt I will never ever, ever, ever make again ever. Almost got the borders finished. 2 more strips of white to sew to the top and bottom then another round of the brown border and call it done. Ok so that makes the top and it still has to be quilted. Any volunteers??????…Continue
Hello to all. I haven't been here in months, June to be exact. Just been busy working and playing with my grandkids. Those of you who have read my posts may remember that my mom passed away last year and I was busy getting her house fixed and sold. Sense then I really haven't been motivated to do anything.
A couple months ago I got the idea to make a quilt for Aiden the older of the two grand sons. I knew what I wanted to make and decided to check out the local sew and vac for…Continue
