Not quilt related but too darn cute to pass up

My SIL caught DD sleeping with Aiden. He is a month old now and yes he is growing quickly.

new quilt border

I managed to redo the quilt border for one of my quilts finally.  The first one didn't look right and it took a while for me to catch it.  The spacing between blocks was totally different from side to side.  I've contemplated the idea of what to do about it and this is what I came up with.

My before and after pictures of the quilt…

Good Morning to all

I know it's early for some but this is normal for me.  What isn't normal or at least hasn't been for the past several years is not waking up with back pains. We bought our house 5 years ago and I bought a new bed and things for the house.  The bed turned out to be the worst of investments.  I had called the store that I got the bed from and no one called back.  I went to the store to complain, this was a very expensive mattress after all, and I was told it would "break in". Yeah ok that…

Not sure I like the idea of being a grandma yet but

I sure do love getting the pictures from DD.

How many you remember playing with babies feet.  Caught my DD doing just that…

My curiousity has been working overtime

Not long ago I was hopping from website to website and was reading on tips for machine quilting about using grey thread when working on a block that has different colors within the block.  It use to be when I hand quilted that I matched the thread to material in the block.  With my LA I just used the variegated threads and things were ok. Sense I wanted to start working on a quilt top with my new Brother sewing machine I was wondering if anyone had used a grey thread over different colors in…

Ok my review of the Brother CS6000.  I got my  machine today, it was hiding behind my trash can!  Ah my FedEx guys... they do that because I live on a street with kid traffic from the high school. I did sit down and read the owners manual but once I got the bobbin wound and threaded needle I gave it a test drive.  The machine is light weight but doesn't bounce on the table when in fast stitch mode.  It has three speeds and believe me, slow is slow.  Runs smoothly, ok much much better than my…

So I was bad once again...

I just bought the Bother PQ 1500 so that I could do the sit down quilting, I got the other half to make a table lower to what would make quilting a quilt easier and I've been practicing on this machine.

Now the bad part.  My sewing and cutting table and material are in another room in the house.  I have a few projects to work on and find that it is easier to work closer to the cutting table. I know logical thinking going on here.  The new machine doesn't fit into the other room, I do…

It's a boy! No wait, we knew that. It's his birthday!!

Finally, Aiden Ryan W. made his appearence at 7:14 this evening.  Mom and Baby are just fine.  Even dad survived the ordeal.  After finding out that only one other person besides dad could be in DD room I was prepared to sit and wait.  SIL called and told me DD wanted me at the hospital. Early this afternoon her Dr. came in to check on her.  There was some concern about Aidens head being a little bigger than she had room for and DD panicked.  She wanted a natural birth.  By the time I got…
