I finally finished the purse I was making. I usually go to Levenworth Wa during the winter so we can look at the lights and shop but we haven't gone in the last couple of years because of schedules at work so I gave in and bought a purse a few years ago. The grey purse on the left is the one I've been using. As you can see it doesn't stand up very well and finding anything inside, well lets just say it's an adventure. The one on the right is the purse I just finished. If the fabric looks…Continue
Well I haven't been anywhere really. I know it's been forever sense I posted on here.
I have been working the day job. I come home and rest the legs and feet mostly. Too tired lately to do much of anything.
I did start a new quilt but I needed to work more hours and lost interest in working on the quilt. I did start a purse pattern mostly because I hate the one I have. I can't find a darn thing in it when I need to. That being mostly the keys to car and house. That fell…Continue
Day one of the vacation, get coffee. Hummmm bank card not working. Check account balance, I do have money. Bank not open. Proceeded to Apple to get iphone fixed. Tech tinkers with it for 30 minutes and turns it off then on. "I think it has a software problem. Ok should be fixed." I guess they didn't hear me when I told them that's what I've been doing to it. Next stop, the bank. Yes there was a problem with the debit cards not working. It should be fixed. Just in case, I got cash. Come home…Continue
So where to begin? I haven't quilted on the LA in quite a while. I think she thinks I've forgotten all about her alone in the sewing/garage. I got sick back in December and I don't think I'm over it yet. My other half was sick, DD has been sick, Aiden was sick. Ok you got the idea, we're all sick.
Aiden turned 2 back in March. He's talking up a storm these days although my baby talk isn't what it use to be. We'll just have to wait another year or so to see what the translation…Continue
I finally finished the baby quilt for the other half's daughter and granddaughter Abby. I would have finished it by Christmas but was suddenly distracted by wrapping Christmas presents.
Aiden on the other hand, had a very good Christmas. He finally got a chair that fits him. Hummm I wonder who taught him to sit sideways in the chair? Not…Continue
That would be the I'm being moved again! It's not so bad this time. I'm just being shifted to one end of the room so that a train set can be built. Yes I said a train set. Sigh, there could be worse things in life than sharing a room with trains. Its a good thing I found my happy place:…Continue
I'm curious. I've been to 2 quilt shows this year. The second being this morning. Both of these I would say were fairly large shows. I had fun playing with the longarm machines. I saw some embroidery things I would like to get but didn't. The big downer here was that everything from booth to booth seemed to be pretty much the same thing. I did see alot of beautiful quilts, but what I didn't see were the patterns to make the quilts in many of the booths. It was extremely crowded with…Continue
That would be the rippit party that is. :o( I've been working on the LA and wanting to get another quilt top done. Early on in this project the other half who shall forever now be nameless, made the remark that the backtracking really stood out on quilt. Well that would be because of the thread. I'm not perfect at the back tracking part of this quilting mostly because my Tin Lizzie stand has rails instead of tracks. I've described this before as being loose as a goose when trying to…Continue
My other half became a grandpa for the 4th time this month. Baby wasn't due until 9-4 but mom went into labor on labor day and delivered on the 2nd. Mom and baby are doing fine. He now has 3 granddaughters and one grandson.Continue
As summers go out here we've had a very mild summer. Very little rain sense June and not a lot of the hot temps. It's mostly been in the 80's even in August which kind of surprised me. I like the warmer weather!
So what does one do when it starts raining? I finished the mariner quilt the other night, (see earlier post). I've had my next project loaded on the LA sense taking the other off but I haven't figured out all the quilting designs to fill up the space. Deciding that it…Continue
The Mariner Compass quilt is quilted. It took me a bit longer than planned, hummm they always seem to do that to me. All I need to do now is find the material I was using so that I can make the binding and get that put on the quilt and call it finished. I ran into some problems with this one. Sense it is set on point, I had to turn the quilt to get to the side setting triangles and had problems with the tension once it was turned. I will work on that on the next quilt. I'm hoping to…Continue
Everyone will be happy to know that I've done pretty much nothing with my injured shoulder this week. I went to PT as ordered by the doctor and the shoulder is feeling much better.
As for the rest of my time: I did rest the shoulder, in the back yard under a wonderful summer sun, something we don't get much of here in the NW.
I have also spent time working on the mariner compass quilt on the LA. I would have been done by now but I didn't like just doing feathers in the side setting…
I'd like to say that I had something done this past weekend but that isn't so. I came down with burcitis in my shoulder the week before. Major bummer. It was bad enough that I gave in and went to the hospital. I got my perscriptions and off I went. I enjoyed the pain pills, they let me sleep. The anti-inflamatory, not so much. I got sick from those and I had to work as well. My dept. manager was on vacation, another worker already off work for playing with fireworks on the 4th of July,…Continue
I guess everyone is busy with the summer activities. I wish I could say the same for me. Yesterday was a record heat setting for the year so far and I ended up doing alot of running around. I got to have dinner with the DD and Aiden. He got his first hair cut last week. All his cute little curls are gone.
I finished the pink quilt last week and started working on my mariner compass quilt and thought I would throw the pictures in for good messure. I spent quite a while trying to…Continue
well not me anyway. I would have posted about being on vacation this week but I forgot and I was a bit busy.
Many of you know I got the sewing room back, ok not in the same condition I left it in but good enough to set up the longarm and quilt something. My friday as usual was with the grandson day and apparently the night too as DD and DSL wanted to go to the movies. Fine with me. Saturday was run around and get things done day. Sunday I finally had some time to myself and…Continue
I spent my weekend in search of material that I might use on the quilt top that I decided would be my first victim for my longarm. I had some flannel in white and decided that it would work for me. Washed and dried measured, stitched and finally loaded onto the table. With everything in place I got the first line of stitching that holds the top to the backing done and decided that sence this is a busy little quilt that I would start out with some feathers. Everything started out well…Continue
The wonderful people who had the encoder and the wiring harness for my longarm shipped and delivered by today. Yes you would be thinking I was over joyed at this and I was. I fixed my machine and it now works in both directions. Next step was to clean up the poles and attach new velcro for the leaders. The leaders, hummmm I know I had them, I know I saw them not too long ago, but they are now MIA.
I have searched high and low for them and only came up with one. Dang it I need all…Continue
