My 1st Blue Ribbon

I just won my first blue ribbon at a local Guild quilt show. The quilt was a Round Robin that I organized almost 2 years ago. The piecing was finished about a year ago and I finally found the time to quilt it this year. I posted pictures in my photos.

Lost Cause

Ok I am trying to get some projects finished up. About five projects that need the binding finished up, but I seem to have a problem...a big problem....a 65 pound black problem! Matilda is just having none of it, she wants all my attention so I give up and will try another time.…

Find My Fabric.com

Just recieved this great info from Superior Threads about a new search engine and had to share it.

There is a fantastic new website created by Websites For Quilters that helps you find specific fabrics. FindMyFabric.com is an innovative fabric search engine that finds fabric and quilting supplies from hundreds of online quilt stores. You can search for products by either typing in words or by uploading a photo from a digital camera. If you use a photo, the search engine uses…

Butterfly Quilt

Just finished my Mom's Butterfly Quilt. I have named it "A Graceful Life". When I think of my Mom I think of a life of grace. She is a graceful lady that lives a grace filled life. She loves butterflies and when I saw this kit at a local shop I couldn't resist. It is the first time I have ever quilted feathers and they are not the best but I knew that however they turned out my mom would love it.…

Busy Bee

Well I have been pretty quiet and probably will be for a long time. I do get on here and read some of what's going on but I am being drawn to my sewing room. We made a little trip from Wisconsin to Michigan through the northern route and of course I mapped out quilt shops. Ended up getting 3 more kits and some fabric on my little jont. I must have about 20 kits that are waiting to be sewn as it is. And I signed up for a BOM. You know what we say..."So much fabric, so little time". But I am…

Memories of Mama

Just finished this quilt and I think it turned out beautifully. When I started this quilt I learned of the passing of a dear friend of mine who was 93 years young. This pattern was originally called "Heritage 1846"; the quilt store where I purchased the kit called it "Natures Sanctuary"; I have renamed it "Memories of Mama". All through piecing and quilting of this quilt I have thought about my dear friend and the times we spent together, she will be missed and forever in my… Continue

Upcoming Shop Hop

Wednesday some girls from our local quilt shop (which closed in Nov) are going on a short shop hop to Cedarburg WI. We will have breakfast first in town then head to the first shop "Ye Old School House" then stop for lunch, then on to the second shop "Material Matters" both shops are completely different which is great, then return home. Can't wait to spend the day with them they are so much fun. We were all a part of the QFL (Quilters Football League) last summer and our road trips where a… Continue

Checkmate

Checkmate pieced and quilted. This was a good lesson for me...too thick thread, too thin batting...not a great combination. Still it turned out ok. I love the panto that I used and can't wait to use it again. A great panto for QOV quilts.…

Painted Daisy's

Just finished "Painted Daisy's" pattern by Garden Path Designs. I quilted it with "Dragonflies" panto pattern by Designs by Vickie. A fun quick quilt. I purchased it as a kit but would like to do another one picking my own fabrics. A really sweet quilt for a little girl. I made it for a sample for my studio.…

It Takes A Village

Just finished piecing this quilt which I have named "It Takes A Village". The original name was "Santa Town Square" by Lynette Jennings. I obviously didn't use Christmas fabrics thus the name change. Not sure when I will get to quilting it, maybe not until the beginning of Dec due to company and Thanksgiving. I have it hanging up so I can let it speak to me on how to quilt it. I have a few ideas in the works and will post another picture when I get it… Continue

Apple Cider

"Apple Cider" is done and on the bed. What a great feeling of accomplishment. Now my husband can quit threatening to get a quilt from Cabella's for our bed. It is my first quilt quilted on my new Millennium. Didn't do too bad but we are our own worst… Continue

CT Thread...Love It!!!

My quilting buddy that God led me to on this site (Linda Sue) suggested that I try the Connecting Threads thread and I just love it! I love it so much that I just ordered a bunch so that I can replace all my old thread. CT's thread doesn't break like my old thread and I thought I was buying a quality thread (not just any old sale stuff). I only wish that they had more colors in the cones for quilting my quilts...just a suggestion! So I highly reccommend this thread if you haven't tried it order… Continue

Paths To The Stars

Well I finally finished this quilt. I just did an all-over stippling pattern. Wanted it ready for a gift. Will probably give it to my sister & brother in-law for Christmas. Have to start thinking about getting those gifts ready. I have a lot of company in the next month then I will definately have to get busy quilting. Lots of quilts cut and ready to go and soooo many in the planning stage. Better get… Continue

More Storage

My DH helped me rearrange stuff in the basement, (where my sewing room is) so that I could add some cabinets so that I could see my fabric. Problem is...now I don't have enough fabric...becuase it couldn't possibly be that I have too much storage!LOL Other photos of my actual sewing room are on my site. Storage is just a door away!…

Ouch!

Well I guess we all do it sometime and with as many years as I have been quilting I guess it was my turn...what am I talking about...I cut my finger with my rotary cutter through the nail and everything. I didn't get to the bone and I don't need stitches (I don't think) it is bandaged up and a little clumsy for cutting and sewing but not too bad (pointer finger, left hand). Be careful ladies... hey don't they make gloves just for that reason? Happy and SAFE Quilting, Julia

So many groups, so little time

Wow I can't believe how many new groups have been started since I first joined. I haven't been on here too much, with summer and quilting and all. In the winter (with snow and all) it is a little easier to keep up with you all. It also seems like I am not the only quite one lately. There are a couple of groups that have been very quite. Mostly in the midwest, I guess we are all out enjoying the weather while we can, it will be cold before we know it. Actually I can't wait till then, then I will… Continue
