Working on 3rd Comfort Quilt

I finished two quilts for the guild meeting in March. Yesterday I finished piecing the top for #3 and I have started to set it up on my quilter. I hope to have it done by the April meeting.

I started to work on my Crazy Quilt due in June for the contest. But I feel the need/desire to get the Comfort quilts done first.

Since my last blog, I have taken 2 classes. The class on March 7, called Shadow Box quilt, was given to me as a birthday gift by my 2 friends. I am doing… Continue

Shadow Box Quilt Class

I added a picture of Lucy. She decided to make my Lovers' Knot quilt her own - it's the blue crumpled ball in the corner. I made it years ago just because I liked the pattern. I guess Lucy does also; it's in she special nap corner!

Yesterday I took a class on how to make the quilt pattern 'Shadow Box'. The class & pattern was a birthday gift from two friends who also quilt. I used oriental prints; the primary color being shades of purple. The shadow is a dark green leaf print.… Continue

Finished 1 Comfort Quilt

I completed one of the four comfort quilts. It turned out very nice [at least I think so]. This was one that I used some of my own stash to piece the top. I started to put another one on the quilter last night. I hope to finish getting it set up on the quilter, as well as mapping out the pattern I'm going to use tonight. I truely hope that it brings comfort to someone undergoing chemotherapy. Using my skills to provide these quilts to cancer patients is very satisfying [this is not the word to… Continue

Comfort Quilts

Saturday was a day for the members of the quilt guild to come together and make Comfort Quilts. These quilts brought to hospitals for patients who are undergoing chemotherapy. It was a rewarding day. There must have been about 50-60 women, some piecing the tops, some pinning and/or sewing the layers together, others decorating them with some fancy machine stitching or free-motion sewing. I've only belonged to the guild for 2 months, but I feel at home. Everyone was friendly and encouraging. I… Continue

Challenging Myself

Hi to everyone! I am new to blogging, but this isn't my only challenge. I decided to enter a quilt contest, which I have never done before. Thank goodness it is only 16" x 16" and it has to be a crazy quilt pattern.

I have been sewing on and off for many years, but it has only been in the last several that I have become more involved in quilting. I recently bought an HQ16 which I love! I've done several baby quilts, as well as quilts for my nephews - one in graduate school and the… Continue
