Our Last trip.

I know that I haven't posted for 1 year, but I do read and keep up with all the things going on and sometimes add my 2 cents worth. This last trip, we left home (in our motorhome) on Feb. 2nd for AZ., and got home on April 23rd.  We were in Oceanside, Ca,, for 1 week visiting some friends from our area, who were renting a beach cottage. We spent 1 month in Phoenix at a RV park, so we could go to Mariner Spring Traning games. We were able to attend 12. The weather was fantastic and we aquired…

Home again

We got home April 19th and it was still cold and rainy. Our daugther kept telling us not to come home, but to stay where we were nice and warm. We did have such a great time and loved all the warm, hot weather that we had. We've got caught up on all the things that we needed to and now are ready to play again. No more long trips until July, just shorter ones. We didn't do any crabbing in OR or WA, because we didn't want to freeze sitting there waiting for the crabs to eat the turkey legs.…

Time Marches ON

We are now in Bakersfield, CA. We just left Las Vegas after spending several days there. Did a lotof exploring and found the quilt shops for me and the shops that my DH wanted to go to. We ate a few lunches and dinners out. For my birthday, we went to Sam's Town where they had steak and lobster as a special. That lobster is a favorite. Before LV, we were in Bullhead City and spent time with my 88 yr old aunt. She and DH are getting ready to head back to ID for the…

Quartzsite, AZ

Good morning to all and a beatuful day.  We've now been to Tucson, Tombstone, Phoenix and now Quartzsite. Oh what a wonderful time we are having exploring so many different places and the weather has been great. We spent one day in Tombstone, looking over the old town. In Tucson, we were in Old Town , which is really neat and just explored. We also found the quilt shops, where I buy at least a fat quarter. I've met so many nice people. We spent 8 days in Phoenix, going… Continue

Fun

We've been to Yuma, Casa Grande, Tuscon, staying overnight in those towns and exploring other town and places there, since we left San Diego. Tombstone, is a touristy place, but really enjoyed it. I've been collecting fat quarters from every quilt shop I've been in and hope to make a quilt from my travels. Last night, we stayed in Florence, AZ at a nice RV and very friendly people. Today, were going to Phoenix, where we'll probably…

Traveling

I haven't been on here for a long time and will update some. We left home on Feb. 28th and traveled down the WA, OR, and CA coast as far as San Diego. Met a classmate there and he took us on the USS Midway. He retired from the Navy after 27 yrs and is a member Midway Preservation group that can get to tour the ship free. It was fascinating to have the hosts think we were special people wearing the VIP stickers. What a great tour and learned many interesting new…

2 Day Trip

When we went on our last trip, I stopped at Quilter's Stash in Westport, WA and bought 2 yds of material. This last week, when I was cutting this mateial for a quilt, I discovered that I was about 1/2 yd short. I told DH husband where I got the material and he said "would you like to go get some?" WOW, I said "yes.". So, on Mon Morning, we left home and drove to Rochester to have the Sr. discount lunch buffet at the Lucky Eagle Casino. They do have a great buffet. Then on to… Continue

Pictures

As we journied on, we came to the Columbia Ice Fields, where buses drive on the ice. We watched from afar and took pictures. They must have good chains or some other method to keep these buses on the ice. Pretty awesome. The sun was shining and it was a gorgeous day. Another gorgeous picture is of Athabasca Falls, The area that the water goes thru isn't that big and the force the water creates going thru it, is something else. We are nearing Banff and stopping at Lake Louise.… Continue

Sightseeing

The mountains and glaciers are so awesome. Driving down the road, take a picture and go around the curve and the mountain looks so different from the new view. More pictures. While we were in Glennallen, I saw this red bus of some kind. I told Ken that I thought it might be a Fire fighter bus for the guys who fight fires, because of all the small windows in the back half for sleeping and windows for when they were riding. It's a good sized one. So off we went to Anchorage to…

A Few Animals

Today I'm jumping around so you can see a few aminals. This Cariboo was along side the road eating and didn't want to be disturbed. She'd raise her head and look at you. Then because of a car, would run across the road and then back again to where she had been eating. We watched her for about 10 minutes and she was determined that no one make her leave her spot. The sheep were walking… Continue

Going Home

I've mentioned the roads before being real good to bad, so today I'll mention the worst stretch and that was between Beaver Creek and Burwash Landing. There had been many frost heaves ( where the frost makes the road buckle) and some had crackes that had been patched with asphalt and part of the asphalt was gone and chuck holes were in the road. There were orange markers sticking up beside them to let you know that they were there. When we went up this stretch, it wasn't so…

Heading home

Now, we are heading towards the Yukon. In Tok, AK, we stopped there for Sourdough Pancakes, which my SIL wanted so bad. With the pancakes were Reindeer sausage, fruit, scrambled eggs, juice and coffee. We always found more gift shops, whether we bought something or not, were loaded with treasures. I bought so many post cards to mail this summer, because sometimes you couldn't get out on your phone. Anyway, they are for people to keep for souveniors. We remembered a place called… Continue

Back on the road

Today's another day traveling and stopping along the way to see animals. We saw a few bears, black, brown and 2 grizzly, but they move so fast that I'm not fast enough to get their picture. We also saw a Red Fox, Coyote, Deer, Antelope, Elk, Puffins, Sea Lions and whales. Now, we didn't see them all in one day, but scattered over the

weeks. Between Glennallen and Palmer, was a motel,…

Homer

We camped in an RV park along the ocean on the Homer Spit. I love to walk the beaches and collect rocks big enough to put around my flower beds. So, this trip I collected them from all over. The sunsets we saw were simply gorgeous. We had Fish and Chips at a small restaurant in the Spit and oh, were they good. Also, walked and looked at all the shops, including the Salty Dog Saloon. We didn't go in there 12 yrs ago, so did this time. The walls are lined with dollar bills and…

Portage Bay, AK

Now the 6 of us are on our way south and we stopped at Portage Bay, The glacier is even smaller than I remembered from 12 yrs. ago. After looking around in the information center, we left the MH's there to go with Dick and Kathy in the van to Whittier. We hadn't been there, so going thru the 4 mile tunnel seemed to take a long time. The tunnel traffic is regulated for one way at a time.… Continue

Skagway

After going to bed last night, I realized that I didn't tell you about our time in Skagway. We left Teslin Lake RV, where we did launtry, and drove to Tagish and left the MH's there in a rv park and R drove his pickup to Atlin. Now, that also a real neat town. There is one building that is in the shape of a piramid. It was new 12 yrs ago when we were there and the shingles are now weathered and it fits right in. We had lunch there at a restaurant and good food. Then we went to…

Fishing

We're on on way again and find that gas, which is a liter in Canada, was as high as $4.98 a gal. The most we paid for gas amounted to $163.25 and the lowest was $120.45, until we got back to Alberta and then it dropped to $85.00. But in the meantime, we had our… Continue

It's been since May that I have blogged, so I guess it's time. We left to go to AK on May 31st and met my DH's sister and husband (R & M) on June 2nd in Cache Creek BC. Later that day, we decided to stop at a gift shop on the left side of the road. They were behind us and had their blinker lights on and we did also. As DH started to make the turn, a semi-truck came wizing by and caught the upper corner of our MH. DH saw something and jerked the wheel back or we'd probably… Continue
