Seems like every week around here is busy! The Gretel Cardi was finished and mailed off:
I chose some tagua nut buttons for it. The pattern is the "Natural Beauty for Baby" from Knit on Down.
I made the sleeves a little longer so Daphne could still wear it when she's a little bigger. You can find this book here
I cast on the "Highland… Continue

What a busy week! My Vintage Stitchers group met right in the middle of Sundance!
More on quilting later. It has been a busy week at Sundance. Here are some fellow volunteers taking a quick break between films.
We had a little excitement on Sunday, while I was at the opera. There was a demonstration by a handful of people from the Westboro Baptist Church against the film, "Red… Continue

Ta-da! The La Boheme Cardi is done! Here's the back:
...and the front:
This is my first adult-size sweater using fiber I dyed and spun myself. I Navajo-plied the spun Corriedale and knit the cardi in the round using EZ's percentage system
, with a steek. I adapted a friend's Scandinavian yoke pattern chart, so there would only be two colors per round.
The dark… Continue

I had to start with this photo:
Diane's Drunkard's path
This photo was too beautiful not to lead with! It was from my Vintage Stitchers' meeting on Thursday at Diane's. This is her Drunkard's Path quilt, which she made using the applique method. I… Continue

This week I finally put the sleeves and body of my La Boheme Cardigan together and started on the yoke pattern:
Here's a detail of the design, which I adapted from my friend Marianne's pattern. (You may remember Marianne from the photo I posted of the pullover that she converted to a cardigan by making a steek. She has since made another cardigan out of a Dale… Continue

Miss Daphne and her family are on their way home.
You will see in the photo the felted diaper bag in use, Karen's new felted bag she got for Christmas lying in a bin, Daphne in her BSJ. David isn't wearing his scarf in the photo. Here it is in use:

What a Christmas it has been! How wonderful to have family around you with it's accompanying chaos!
Daphne's BSJ is perfect; just big enough to be able to last for a while, but still small enough to wear now! The quilt was a big hit, too! They loved
the colors and the label with the photo of their little family.

Merry Christmas, everyone! Here's this year's Christmas card:
This is the earth as viewed from moon orbit on December 25, 1968.
"Peace on earth, good will toward men." Good wool toward knitters, too! And alpaca, etc., or your fibers of choice.
My fibers of choice for this project were 42% each Koolaid-dyed… Continue

We got another blizzard, starting Saturday night. Here's what it looked like midday on Sunday:
This is the time of year to be concerned with those less fortunate. Do you carry a packet of nonperishable food in your car? You never know when you might come across someone in need. Our Squeeky has been stowing peanuts away for cold… Continue

Finished the '30s Fox and Geese quilt. The website won't let me post from my photos, so the finished full view will be lying down. To see it right-side up, go here.…

This week has been busy! (So what else is new?)
There are presents to wrap and send off, more knitting and quilting to do (some of which I can't show you) and other preparations to make. We took the time to dress up the pups and mug for the camera, though.
The annual get together for the National Olympic Committee Assistants assigned to German… Continue

The rush to finish projects is on! Here's the scarf just finished Saturday:
It's 100% alpaca, so should be nice and warm! It's for a family member who might see this, so I can't say, but I'll try to post a photo later on its new owner.
I have never made so many presents for friends and relatives as this… Continue

Now that I have your attention...
That's Gabriella. You have seen her before if you have read a previous blog post. She's the orphaned baby alpaca my friend Linda has been raising with a bottle. You will see more of her later.…

Quilts, amazing quilts! My Vintage Stitchers group met at Brenda's right
after she went to the International Quilt Festival in Houston. Brenda
brought each of us a bag as a souvenier. Here, Rebecca shows hers off:
Several people (besides me) brought quilt tops to give to Julie for professional machine quilting. This is a batik top made by Barbara:… Continue

This week found DH and me on a snowshoe outing with a special purpose.
As you may know, my DSIL, Eileen, passed away October 4th. She wanted her ashes scattered at the top of one of the local ski resorts, on the snow. We had to do this before the resort Continue
opened but after there was snow to snowshoe on.…

Anyone recognize this fiber?
This is brown and black poodle hair, left over from Rocky and Sunny's last Continue
grooming appointment. I had Marcia, our groomer, collect it and give it
to me. It's only a month's worth of growth, though, so I'm going to mix
it with another fiber or fibers to make a…

Halloween is over, and we wonder what to do with all the leftover candy.
It's a good thing we got Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, our favorite!
However, some knitting, spinning and quilting have been accomplished.
1) Knitting: The first sleeve of my La Boheme cardigan (new name) is
about 3/4 finished. The new name is because I worked on the lower body
while watching La Boheme at Utah Opera. The cardi isn't likely to die… Continue

I woke up to this this morning:
I guess Rocky isn't going to be using his wading pool anymore for a while! The resorts are doing a happy dance, though!
DS1 and his DW arrived in Salt Lake City last week for a visit with her
son in Idaho. On the way back, we had a nice, but short, visit. She
brought some of her quilting fabrics to try to match with fabrics from
the quilt shops in Idaho and SLC. Here's… Continue
