Seven Sisters Cont.

I finally got my Seven Sisters quilt top finished. I had to put it off for awhile so I could get started on my Double Wedding Ring quilt. So... now I'm putting that off for awhile to get this one finished. Hmm.. I wonder if you can call them UFOs if I'm still working on both of them at the same time. I guess the trick is to actually finish both of them in a reasonable length of time. Anyway, here's the 7… Continue

Double Wedding Ring

I have always wanted to make a double wedding ring quilt but could never motivate myself to start one even though I have the templates and know what I want it to look like. So.. Today I started a new group for Double Wedding Ring quilts. The purpose of the group will be to encourage, motivate and help others to enjoy making a double wedding ring quilt. And... after I started the group, I discovered (Thanks to Elaine) that CT has the double wedding ring paper patterns on sale for 40% off this… Continue

Too Many Quilts Discussion

A couple of weeks ago I started a discussion on whether it's possible to have too many quilts. There were many helpful comments about giving quilts to local charities and donating to organizations for quilts to be raffled in order to decrease my ever growing piles of quilts. I thought this was a good suggestion so after the original discussion, I donated a quilt to the local Kiwanis Auction... then a week later, I was asked to donate a quilt to the school lunch organization in the local school… Continue

Seven Sisters Continued

I received my red/black/white fabrics from Keepsake. I've got 7 more blocks cut out but will have to make 4 more half blocks to complete the quilt. So far, I'm really liking them. I haven't had much time for quilting lately with it being Spring Break and a granddaughter visiting. She's 9 and so far, not a whole lot of interest in quilting but I'm hoping that will change this summer when she'll be here longer. Plus... the weather has been so beautiful it just makes you want to do something… Continue

Seven Sisters

I took a Seven Sisters class from Marti Michell a couple weeks ago and am working on these blocks. I've always loved Seven Sisters quilts but thought it was way too complicated to really enjoy making one myself. But.. that Marti Michell... she sure knows how to make things easier. I can make a whole block in about an hour.. and that includes cutting! I've ordered some more fabrics from this line so I can make enough blocks for a whole quilt..… Continue

My latest project

Here is my latest project... finally finished. About 8 years ago, a friend made a quilt just like this one and I made a deal with her that I would quilt her quilt if she would give me her left over blocks. Needless to say, she jumped on it and we made the deal. It has taken me 8 years to actually get to the project and she had made almost ALL of the blocks I needed and what I still had to make, she had already cut the pieces so it was way easier… Continue
