Quilt With Us

June Johnson/Wi's Blog – April 2013 Archive (8)

Project completed

Finished a project---a bag to collect threads and little scraps while sewing and a pincushion to hold it onto the edge of the sewing table.  I used scraps.  I think I'll make one for gift exchange at Christmas party next Dec.

Spring has arrived

It's June again in NW Wisconsin.  Spring has arrived; if you saw our yard today, you wouldn't believe it's the same home I posted snowy photos of a week ago.  All that snow is rapidly disappearing.  Ice on lakes is beginning to melt or at least thin out.  Daffodil spears are about 4 inches high.  Robins have arrived.  Yesterday was about 70 and today mid 60s. Yesterday we had our first spring cookout; potato salad and hot dogs.  God is good!

Signs of spring?

My DH and I went for a ride today to shake off the doldrums of this continuing winter weather.  On the way home we saw a skunk cross the highway in front of us; luckily we didn't hit it.  Is he a sign of spring?

The photos I'm posting sure are not a sign of spring.  These are the results of the 20 inch snowfall we had last Thursday/Friday.  It is snowing again as I blog; we may get another 10 inches.

This is our front doorstep.…

This is the day the Lord has made----

As I look at a foot of new snow on the ground and still snowing, I'm trying to rejoice and be glad.  My DH and I keep reminding each other that it is good for the soil come spring and summer especially if it is hot.  This is unusual even here in NW Wisconsin.  Many schools closed tomorrow.  Opening fishing season is in a couple weeks; I doubt the ice will be off the lakes by then.  Oh, dear; glad I don't fish.  The spruce tree branches in our yard are hanging to the ground with the weight of…

UFO completed and 2 new quilts

Gaining ground on my winter quilting goal---to complete UFOs.  The way winter is hanging on here in NW Wisconsin, I just might finish all of them.

This UFO was begun in 2010 with CT Round Robins Nest group.  Finally, sandwiched and quilted it.
