Have been busy with projects but not completed to take photos to post; will do so when done.
Am working on gift for exchange for our quilt group Christmas party; found idea online. Am making "coasters" using 4 inch white ceramic tiles. Found pics of vintage Santas online. Printed them and used ModPodge to adhere them to the tiles. Will put thin cork board on backs. Even my DH tho't they looked pretty spiffy; he suggested I make some for home.

Does anyone know of any simple, inexpensive Christmas projects to make? Our quilt group is going to have our annual Christmas party in Dec. I like to make each one a "little" something; last year I made "mug rugs" for each quilter. We also make one gift for exchange but I have a couple ideas for that.
Appreciate any suggestions; doesn't necessarily have to be quilt related.
When I post photos, what am I doing wrong? I want my explanation first and then photo but photo always posts…Continue

Very little quilting going on in this house. Have been washing red/white prints with "Retayne"; will be cutting them for Crabapple Hill Winter Wonderland quilt to take to quilt camp on Oct 22 till 26. Have nearly finished the embroidered blocks.
Have been doing fall yard work for 2 days; just have a few plants left to trim before winter. This fall has been very different this year just like the rest of the year has been. We have not had a hard frost yet which usually occurs in…Continue
I posted a couple days ago that we had a sisters reunion on a pontoon. Here we are left to right with birth order in parentheses: Marilyn (4th), June (me 3rd), Marlene a.k.a. Dolly (5th), Marsha (2nd), and Karen (1st). We are so blessed that we are all still on this earth and able to get together; 3 in Wisconsin, 1 in Minnesota summers and Arizona winters, and 1in…Continue
Not much quilting in this house over the summer; not since May. A couple weeks ago I was in quilt withdrawal so worked on a wall hanging for church. It was a panel of Bible verses so cut them and pieced them with coordinating batiks; colors are rusts, browns, tans, etc. Have another panel in blues, purples, touch of yellow; will do this for church also. Am still working on Crabapple Hill red embroidery "Winter Wonderland". Haven't done embroidery for years; kinda fun. Also have "Over…Continue
Once a month our church group meets at the local restaurant for supper; we are called "Recycled Teens" (we are all retired). Pastor read this at one of our suppers. I don't know which was funnier, the following or Pastor trying to read it while laughing heartily. Enjoy!

Started with sleeting and now it is snowing?&%@$. Just need to remind myself that I'd rather have sleet/snow than tornados and floods as others are getting. Sat. it was so chilly that I wore longjohns to DGD softball game. Oh, spring, where are you? Tulip, daffodil, hyacinth greens are up but not blooms yet; it is just too cold, Oh, well, I'll just stay in the house another day.
Pam in New York, this is especially for you; could not resist. Compares to your "this deep" in Florida. Two weeks ago we got 16 inches which was well on it's way to being gone; then we got dumped on again. Our high temps now are lower than our average low temps; average is 50 for high and 30 for low. Yesterday our high was 25. Where is spring????? I told my sis in Az…Continue

I think spring peeked around the corner today. Temp was about 55 this afternoon (normal is 30); now at 10:30 p.m. it is still 40 above. A week ago it was minus 23. What a difference; 75 degrees. We still have about 2 feet of snow on the ground but is melting daily. The melting snow and ice kept pouring off the roof all day; better than the leaks we had in house the last 3 days. Yesterday DSIL and DGS went up there and removed some ice and snow and DH and DGS worked on it today. All…Continue
Marked quilt lines with quilters blue chalk wheel; fellow quilter ran it through the rinse cycle in washing machine. The blue chalk lines are still there as bright as when I put them on. Has anyone had that same problem? Any suggestions for removal of chalk? She's going to try a full cycle with soap. Most of time chalk wears off with manipulation of quilt while quilting; sometimes have to remark. Don't know why it stuck so good this time. Thanks for advice.
Just returned from quilt camp yesterday. It was the best place to be when we got 16 inches of snow last Friday. Camp locale was on a lake so we just kept watching wind and snow across lake and kept on sewing. Today I'm back in the real world.
Must apologize for posting elk quilt again; sorry to bore you with a repeat. From now on will check my old posts first.
