Why is it?

Why is it that with an abundance of stash fabric (probably more than I can quilt up in my lifetime - which concerns my husband, but that's another issue), I never have just the "right" piece when I go looking for it? Drives me crazy.

TED's thumb thimble

I just received a Ted's thumb thimble in the mail a few days ago. It is a ring-type thimble with one deep well where the needle sits and won't slip. I think it works like a dream!

I am a hand quilter who has always quilted in a lap frame, so I've never had to learn how to quilt in several directions. Fireworks on the prairie...well, sorta

We have no plans for store-bought fireworks, but this year the lightning bugs (fireflies) have been putting on their own light show for us every night after sundown. They are so fascinating and especially thick this year. My husband and I just sit, watch and appreciate. It is a perfectly peaceful way to wrap up these long summer days. What a blessing.
