My work week has ended and I'm packing for a 3 day quilting retreat! Judy, Joy (my cousin) and I are headed to Chehalis, WA for a wonderful non stop quilting and laughing (and eating) weekend! I especially love the possibility of being out of cell phone/ email range! I've got one big UFO project, one little UFO project (for when I'm sick of the big one), and a couple of hand work wool felt ornament projects to work on.
Woohoo!

I just finished a good book - a quilting mystery, of course! While I wait impatiently for
Barbara's next novel, I found a few books at a quilt show that I hadn't known about. I really enjoyed
Lover's Knot, by Clare O'Donohue. Clare used to be one of the producers of Simply Quilts, so she knows quilting!

Many of you contacted me this morning about the new Gift Application that appeared on your profile page. This was installed by the Network folks that support this site. Once we reviewed it, it was apparent you have to buy gifts with actual money (once you use up the initial 100 credits). So we've removed it from our site.
While it's a cute idea, this is a free site and we don't want anything here that you have to pay for.

It's cold here in the mild Pacific NW! Down coat AND gloves this morning driving to work! Now I know many of you are much colder, much earlier, but we generally have a mild early October so it feels too soon!
I had a great weekend! Delivered the bike to DD who loved and appreciated it. Then took her and girlfriends to a local mall - they felt like they'd been released from a giant bubble (college campus) and had a great time.
Then I meandered my way from Eugene to Dallas (outside of Salem) to…

You might know by now that I am an avid quilter. Assign me a task of buying a newbie a used sewing machine and I would have a blast with that task! DH is an avid cyclist. DD needed a used bike for college. They had 3 weeks (3 weekends) to complete the task before she left for school. So why, oh why, did the task not get accomplished (raised voices were involved), and I, the non cyclist in the family, have to personally search craigslist last night, make the appropriate calls (what's a crankset a…

What a great show! I've always enjoyed this particular Portland show, but my cousin Joy joined me this time. She's an experienced seamstress but a newbie quilter and I really enjoyed seeing the show thru her eyes. I often fly through these shows because I've "seen it all", but because of her, I actually slowed down and shopped. Thoroughly enjoyed myself!
Debbie,
Virginia's booth was WONDERFUL!!! Her patterns and projects we…

NW Quilting Expo! What a great way to start a weekend! If you're in the area, look for me....I'm the tall gal with glasses, loaded down with shopping bags filled with quilting goodies :)

Hey quilters, occasionally I notice blog posts that include personal opinions and/or judgments about politics/religion/personal living arrangements/etc. I’ve purposely not made any rules in this community, preferring instead to let it unfold naturally, like any gathering of talented people.
However, I’ve heard of other communities where strong personal opinions have gotten rather heated and ugly, and feelings get hurt (can you say Fall 2008 election?). This week I noticed a post about religious…

This morning I'm getting ready to
Walk for the Cure. I'm walking in memory of Leslie and Aunt Ellie. Here are just a handful of survivors I'm walking for: Daryl, Jane, MaryJo, Barbara, Linda, and all of you that know someone that is dealing with this dreaded disease. I'm also happily celebrating 5 years free of uterine cancer, so I'm familiar how one is impacted by cancer.
I'll be…

I'm on a cleaning frenzy and am finally going to get rid of my New In Box Grace EZ3 Quilting frame. It looks like
this, but the features are not as current....it's probably 7 years old and still sealed in the box. I think it's a queen size, and I know it folds flat so you can store it against a wall. I think it was $199 new....I'll give you a great deal, including shipping (to US).
Email me privately if you're…
