Progress on "Country Lane" Blocks

I had a rather productive day with hubby away on a business trip to Botswana and the boys having school holiday. I made good progress on my Swap#3 blocks and started with my "homework" on the Country Lane quilt. We have 5 blocks to finish in the next month. I did the applique on the 3 houses block...

Welcome to Africa (1)

A lot of my new friends asked questions about South Africa. We have a beautiful country and I would love to show you some of the wonderful places...

We visited one of the lesser known jewels of South Africa in December 2008. A beautiful village high in the mountains in the Eastern Cape. Hoggsback. If you want peace and quiet, this is the place for you. Only a small problem... to get there...

Money can't buy happiness... some things in life are priceless!

  • When I greet my hubby and boys at the door on their way to work and school, and I realize I have a few hours to myself which I can spend quilting!
  • Of course when they return in the afternoon, saying..."we're hungry, Mamma, what do we eat?... Again - Priceless!

This morning I decided as the weather is changing into Spring, it is time to clean my sewing room! We have a small kind of granny flat at the back of our house and a few years ago Leon helped me to change the "lounge" of this flatlet into a sewing room. (We actually gave the flat a name - "Die Tortelduif", meaning "The Turtle Dove" as in Potchefstroom you find lots of turtle doves and you are always aware of their sound). My first applique quilt blocks!!

I have a song in my heart! I have lots and lots of reason to be thankful for but this morning my cup overflows for two reasons:

  1. It is officially Spring today - 1 September! The willow and poplar trees have a hint of green on them. The grass have a fresh green tint and I have one Barberton daisy (Gerbera) in my front garden! A beautiul maroon colour. Yesterday I bought a bunch of packets of vegetable seeds.
