Connecticut shootings

OMG....I just saw on tv that there was a shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut and 27 people are now dead.  18 of them are children from 6 yrs. old.  What kind of freak shoots 18 babies?  Those poor children in that school have to live with this trauma for the rest of their lives.  Please offer up prayer for those who have died and for their families left behind...also for the rest of those children who saw it all.  Oh my heart breaks at the cruelty in our world.

Here's for Pam.....

I had a great day yesterday, albeit an exhausting one!  A few friends and I went on a bus trip to Philadelphia to the Quilt Show.  We had several hours to view the quilts and shop!!!!  I was a bit disappointed in the show this year...very few "traditional" quilts, but loads of art quilts.  Not that they aren't beautiful, but traditional is more to my taste.  There weren't loads of quilts entered for judging...lots and lots for…

I Found Some Treasure!

I was cleaning out a closet way under some stairs in my house yesterday and look what I found~!  This had to have been way back in the corner from when my Mom owned this house ( I bought it from her in 1981).

It is an old Kenmore andlooks to be in pretty good shape.  I found one like it on the internet and it said it was early 1950's....well so am I so I think I will get her a tune up and see how she runs!!  I was so excited to find this pretty blue machine!…

Me

Does anyone know how to get rid of the "Me" and replace it with my name above?  I have checked my settings and cannot figure out where the "me" is coming from.

Angry Irene!

Just want to say that I am praying for all of those in the path of IRENE these next few days.  Please everyone take heed of the warnings and evacuations...life is too precious to risk!  Batten down the hatches and stay safe everyone!  We took everything inside last night and will pack up a bag of the important stuff tonight with a couple changes of clothes and meds just in case they evacuate us.  We are only 1/4 mile from the bay and 1/2 mile from the ocean so it is a strong possibility for…

Snow, Ice, Rain!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I have seen enough of this winter's weather!  Groundhog...bring it on!!  I have spring fever real bad.  I need some warmth and sunshine.  Everyone be extra careful if you must go out and drive in this weather that is affecting most of the US....fortunately we here on Long Island didn't fare to badly all things considered.  We started out with the freezing rain and it has now warmed up and turned to rain with temps around 40 degrees.  That meant no snow… Continue

Anniversary

I wanted to wish my friend Roz a Happy Anniversary today!  It was two years ago that she and I met at a beginner's quilting class.  We had the most awesome teacher and such fun making that first quilt.  We became fast quilting buddies and now good friends.  It is now many classes and quilts later and I am so grateful for that first class.  I really stepped out of my box to attend and I have gained so much by doing it.  A new best friend and so many other new friends as well.  What a blessing…

Retreat

OMG! We had an awesome time at our retreat this past weekend. Pat was a gracious hostess and she has a beautiful home in the Catskill Mountains of NY. The view is breathtaking and the company was the best! Pat is a fabulous cook...her meals were delicious. We sewed and sewed and sewed! We missed our friend Roz over the weekend as she was in hospital with pneumonia/asthma. I especially missed her as she is my very best quilting buddy! We are booking Pat again for next year!

Miners Rescue

What a wonderful day for Chile! Thanks be to God for the rescue of these miners. So far 13 are up with #14 on his way! 1 man every 40 minutes or so! What an inspiration it is to see the effort by the Chileans and those who went to help them rescue these men.
