Just saw this on Facebook. I know we all do this all the time without a second thought but I guess it's a REALLY bad idea!
OK, I can make enough errors in quilting on my own without help.
I bought Fons & Porter's Quilting Celebration fall 2013 issue because I fell in love with the Whimsical Welcome banner pattern on the front cover. Checked that all the pattern pieces were full size. Traced all the pattern pieces onto fusible; ironed them onto carefully chosen fabrics and cut them out. Triple checked the size for the background fabric and cut into my last piece of perfect "sky fabric" and a…Continue
I posted this on one of the groups and was asked to put it on the main page. I read it some time ago and found it again today on another site.
If you need a morale booster, this is for all the moms and grandmas out there.
Anyone else have this problem?
I can add pictures to my page and I can add a picture to my comments in my groups. But I can't add a picture to individual messages or to a blog post on the main page or to a comment on a main page post. I use Internet Explorer and when I try it says that the website has experienced a problem and IE needs to shut down. Then it does and reopens the page but without my typed comment. Suggestions…
I've started a mystery quilt using some neutral fabric I bought at CT quite some time ago on clearance -- don't even know what the collection was nor the name of the fabric. It is a white background with beige basket weave pattern. I need about 1/4 yard more or I'll have to make a substitution -- and since it's a mystery I don't know where would be a good place to substitute! My picture's not good but if anyone would be willing to sell a quarter yard or so, I'd be thrilled! Thanks!…Continue
Help please, ladies.
Some time ago - okay quite a long time ago - the Golden Thimble website had a free BOM of Quilt barns. The pattern for the barn was the same on each block but there was an opening to insert a quilt block (as rural barns are often decorated). The quilt consisted of 9 blocks with 9 different 4-1/2" inserts. I have finished 8 blocks and in going through my UFO's I found them and thought this would be an easy quilt to finish up.
However.....I have misplaced…Continue
The new Scrap Squad reveals have started. There was one in the magazine, one last week, and mine today. Take a look! One is a holiday quilt and it makes me feel all peppermint and sugarplums! Mine has an autumn palette....only one more pattern to go!Continue
As many of you know, I was privileged to have been chosen as a member of Quiltmaker Magazine's first Scrap Squad 2011. Our term is almost up as we are working on our final project. It apparently was a successful first endeavor because the magazine is forming a new group for 2012. The announcement…Continue
Today's the reveal day for my latest Scrap Squad Quilt. This one was really out of my comfort zone....not a pattern I would have normally done on my own. I guess that's what makes being a Scrap Squad member such fun! If you'd like to see the write up, go to http://www.quiltmaker.com/blogs/quiltypleasures/…Continue
My daughter doesn't quilt, but she does amazing counted cross stitch. Way back when, she started this series of calendar snowmen. It took a while - she got a master's, husband, and baby in the meantime but they are all finished and she asked if I could sash them into a quilt. It turned out so cute I had to share.…Continue
Quiltmaker magazine's Scrap Squad's third reveal is in progress. Eight of us across the US get a pattern in advance of the issue's debut and make a scrappy version and I really like this month's! The pattern is called Spinout by Barbara Cline and can be found in the July/August issue of Quiltmaker which should be on your newstand this week!
They are revealing the eight scrappy quilts one at a time this time and today's my day! I made a baby quilt but I've had a sneak peak at all of them…
Thank you to all of you who left a comment on the Scrap Squad's Raspberry Dessert quilt. By random selection our winner of a new Julie Herman pattern from those who commented on my CT post is (drum roll please) Bonnie from Montana. I've sent Bonnie a message asking her to email me her home address. We are asking winners to respond within 48 hours before we have to choose another.
So Congratulations Bonnie! I hope some of you win patterns from the other…Continue
Sorry Quilters! I have no idea why my links quit working. I thought they were OK last night but anyway... for those of you wanting to see the other 7 scrappy quilts from Quiltmaker's Scrap Squad, here are the individual links:Continue
As many of you know, I was lucky enough to be selected as a member of Quiltmaker's Scrap Squad and it's time for the reveal of Project #2. The original quilt and pattern will appear in the May/June issue of Quiltmaker soon to be on the newstand. Here's my version.
This pattern is Raspberry Dessert…Continue

The next week or so will be exciting for me! I have been chosen as a member of Quiltmaker Magazine's Scrap Squad and we will be unveiling our first project. Eight of us have been selected through an application process and we are each making a scrappy version of one project…Continue
