Can you tell that I am excited LOL. Once again I apologize for disappearing for several months. I truly don't know what is happening with my time management these days. Oh yes, I think it is called "retirement" Heehee.
My BIG news is that my darling daughter is expecting her first baby in February. All is well and she is the happiest person I know. This will make #4 for me, but as (unfortunately) I don't get to see 2 of my grandchildren, I am definitely looking forward to being… Continue

This week I had the sad occaision to stand by one of my best friends as she buried her son, all the while thinking that there but for the Grace of God. Having been breaths away from losing my own son at Christmas time, my heart breaks for her. I hope that in the coming months when times get tough that I can be of some support to her. Please keep her in your prayers for the good Lord to give her the strength she will need to get to a place where she will be able to cope with this… Continue

The candles have been blown out, the cake has all been eaten and everything is quiet again. DH turned 65 today and we had a family party for him. When we reach these milestones in our lives it is interesting to look back and see how we have evolved since the last one. When DH had turned 60 I had given him a scrapbook I compiled of his life, we had fun looking over it again, but I realized that in 5 short years I had accumulated enough material to do another one. It is like quilting, not… Continue

Since my recent forced re-retirement I have struggled to find purpose and routine in my days. This feeling of always needing to be doing something to contribute to family finances has been so ingrained that it is hard to get used to this notion of not having to be so concerned about it.
Relaxing is not in my nature.
Last year I worked hard to lose 54lbs. and become more physically active. but since Christimas I seem to have lost my MOJO and finding it hard to get back on… Continue

Since my recent re-retirement I have been coming re-aquainted with my sewing room, mainly cleaning it out. I am half-way done and am discovering things I had forgotten that I had. I have decided to part with my huge collection of magazines (several hundred to confess). Surprisingly enough I had an offer today to take them off my hands. One thing that I did come across and had to sit down to peruse was a 1999 Connecting Threads catalogue.
I am hoping to get at and finish a few projects… Continue

It has been said that if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans. So true, so true. Several years ago I had this vision of what my life would be like. Running my own highly successful business, enjoying all my grandchildren, finding time to indulge in all my hobbies. WOW wakeup call, going back to my career job these past few years plus running the diaper business has left me zilch time for hobbies, not seeing 2 of my 3 grandchildren, not what I had dreamed. Now once again the world… Continue

OMG, it has been a year since I last posted. All that has gone on this past year is just short of mind boggling. Isn't it funny (not haha) how when life gets busy or tuff the first things that get put on the back burner are the things that you most enjoy doing. Being a regular on this site, quilting (haven't been in my sewing room since Sept/10) scrapbooking, all the things that I personally like to do.
I have missed being here, the one place that I am just me. Not somebody's wife,… Continue

To all who sent me birthday greetings. THANK YOU I was overwhelmed. I haven't forgot any of you but as you all know there are just so many hours in a day. Really just 24 and no more LOL.
After a sluggish start my diaper business is slowly starting to build, but I swear I spend more time "Networking" than anything else, they say it is the way to go????
I have finished handquilting two quilts that I just have to put the binding on, and completed a challenge quilt along with a… Continue

Happy New Year's Everyone.
I haven't quite fallen off the face of the earth. I have missed all my wonderful friends here at QWU. Hard to believe we are a year old already.
I have been plugging away at my new diaper business and if that wasn't enough I started another business with a Nutritional Supplement and Cleansing line.
I tuned into these products the beginning of November and have had so much personal success with them that I decided to add the line to my business.

Well life is certainly keeping me on the hop. Just when I think things are settling into a routine something else pops up. The business is slowly building, I am spending most of my time chasing contacts and doing the circuit of business card exchanges and getting involved with product fairs in order to expose the business to as many people as possible, soon things will take off (keep telling myself that LOL)
Having said that I say I haven't much… Continue

I found something online, while I was checking out if people could find my business easy enough, I discovered that because I had my town on my page and mentioned my business that "my page" was posted when someone googled for my services in my area. I found that quite disturbing, because while I know that nothing is really private online. I like to keep what we all post about "between us" as a rule. So I edited my page not to display my town name in the "location" box and took out the mention of… Continue

Well, after a few aborted starts at getting back into the swing of things, I think that I can finally say life is falling back into a routine. DH has returned to work after taking the summer off. The business is settling into a pattern albeit a slow one. The fall is shaping up to be a busy one. But I like routine and can actually now plan some quilting time.
I managed to get a couple of pics uploaded to my page of the new grandbaby and her little panel quilt. I wasn't going to put my pic… Continue

Good Saturday Morning Everyone:
I am currentily sitting in a trailer on the shores of Balsam Lake, we have friends who have a trailer here. They kindly invite us up for a visit every year. So here we are relaxing and doing absolutely nothing. DH will be off fishing shortly and my friend and I will go into the Mennonite market for some fresh vegetables. I always look forward to this little break (time out) from everything. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our second granddaughter… Continue

Finally after 15 months of booking and rebooking we finally got to go on our Hot Air Balloon Ride. All I can say is that it was worth the wait, what a fantastic experience. Unbelievably surreal. I will get a few pictures up on my page later today. I have decided to declare myself a holiday today and take a break from business and housework. I am getting caught up on all my blog post readings and answering emails, just generally touching base with all my on line friends. As well as taking some… Continue

Many of you have travelled along with me on my journey since January. Looking after my dear Mother in Law and her death in February and have given me wonderful support and encouragement along the way. Some of you may have read about how because of winter weather interment was not to be until warmer weather. Last week we had planned an interment and got all together and went to the cemetary only to have my MIL not show. Miscommunication in dates with the gravedigger. I felt she was having the… Continue

Yesterday I had the amazing opportunity to meet face to face with a new friend from Quilt with Us. "Sunshine" travelled up to this area to visit an old friend of hers and as she was only minutes away from me I was able to meet up with her and meet her friend. We had a lovely day getting aquainted with each other and meeting some lovely interesting people. Only downside was not enough time. Thankyou again "Sunshine" for sharing your visit with me.
Cindy I loved your story of the line up. I… Continue

As I sit reflecting on this day, I think of how much I have enjoyed being a mother to my three children (two sons and a daughter) I miss the days when they were little but cherish the relationships we have as grownups (even with one of my brood being at odds with me at the moment) "This too shall pass" I think of the stormy relationship that I had with my own mother and regret letting the downs overtake so much of our time together. But I wanted to share with you the miracle that God gave me… Continue

I just got home from my guild meeting. What a fabulous speaker we had Helen Fujiki. She is Caucasion Canadian married to a Japanese Canadian. Her quilting has a Japanese flavor to it and it is amazing. For the Canadians among us her quilt "Fugi Wa" is on the cover this months Canada Quilts magazine. As she has a voice problem she made movies, one short one of her early quilting years. and then a longer one on her trip to the Tokyo Quilt Festival and her tour throughout Japan.… Continue

I got up this morning quietly so as not to disturb my daughter sleeping in the den. I got on my shoes and headed out for my walk. As usual went down to the lakefront boardwalk. I noticed a great number of cars in the area and then remembered the Sunrise Service that was taking place. I went to the far side of the boardwalk and started walking toward the Service. we walked down to the end of the west pier and stood watching the water and over the waves drifted the voices raised in song of "How… Continue
