Quilt With Us

Gae's Blog (12)

The decoupagae project is complete!  I am very happy that I finally made time to cover the case for my custom painted green featherweight!  I used quilting gift wrap I had purchased at a quilt show, the design is by Jennifer Chiaverini....Elm Creek Quilts, Loyal Union Sampler. (I have read all the books in the series). …

Yo-Yo Quilt

The Sewing Ministry at church has been busy!  We are making a yo-yo quilt to donate as a surprise auction item.  During the last of the winter weather, I was busy stitching together about 1/3 of the 1,400+ needed yo-yos!  The section in the photo has been folder into…

Another Snow Storm!

Greetings!  More snow, 8 new inches!  Wish I could say I've been busy sewing all day but that isn't the case!  Did iron a few pieces of fabric to keep the stash in order but the rest of the day has been shoveling, chores and paperwork.  Sharing the photo my Niece sent of the holiday table runner that I made and mailed…

Now In The Mail!

My nephew & niece recently relocated to AZ.  Thought it would be nice to gift them a festive table runner as they will be hosting Christmas Day dinner for their parents and new…

Using Up Scraps

I also made four scrap quilts this year.  If you coordinate just a little with color, the quilt comes out very nice.  I plan on sewing the extra pieces from the four quilts into a totally scrappy quilt as scraps never seem to…

Where Did The Year Go?

Greetings Quilting Friends!  I can't believe it is almost a year ago that I posted!  That wasn't the plan for 2017.  It has been a busy year; retirement to make elder care & elder dog care easier as well as a few other roller coaster events.  Even though there has been much care giving this year,  I am happy (and…

What A Storm!

Well, actually, the stars are not out tonight!  The wind has been howling since yesterday afternoon and the rain, freezing rain and sleet started around 4pm and it is still coming down.  So far there is about an inch and there could be two or three inches plus the same amount of snow by morning.  I have cut the fabric…

Up Next..................

Now that the wheelchair lap quilts are complete, I am moving on to a Round Robin project.  This Round Robin will be small, just two quilting friends, my neighbor and a friend at work.  It has been decided that we will each start our own center block and the size limit is 36 inches.  Then we will pass the block, with or…

Guild Donation

Today was the first quilt guild meeting of 2017.  I am happy that I was able to finish and donate the three wheelchair lap quilts I had previously posted about.  A great project for scraps.  My hope is to bring at least one wheelchair lap quilt to each meeting this…

My Custom Painted Featherweight!

Happy New Year!  Amazing that my one and only post was back in April of 2015 featuring a new found Featherweight.  Like everyone else, the past year had times of challenge, stress and tears.  I held tight to my faith and ran to my sewing room when possible.  I am happy to share that the Featherweight has been custom…

Another Featherweight!

The owner of a local antique shop knows I love sewing machines.  John called me during the winter and said I have another Featherweight, however, it isn't a gem like the others.  After a few more snow storms I finally made it to the shop, and of course, said I'll take it!  I have oiled it and had the pedal wires changed today (thank you Andrew) and have decided that this is the Featherweight that I'll have custom painted.  Thinking green.  Any advice or suggestions from quilters who have a…
