I'm very sad to report that one our our QWU friends was killed yesterday in a head-on collision. Here's the article: http://www.tri-cityherald.com/news/local/crime/article77772542.html
I never met Suzanne in person, but we met here on Quilt with Us and we were in several groups together. We became Facebook friends and I got to know her better. Besides being a quilter, she was a huge lover of animals…Continue
I've been absent for awhile, sorry! But I've just wrapped a week+ vacation during the holiday, when work closes down between the holidays. It's such a nice time to be off. After all the usual family and friend holiday stuff, I started a brand new project! It's called Whisper and it's a thousand pyramid quilt, designed by my friend Mary Fons. I started cutting the day after Christmas:…Continue
I'm in Ecuador, on vacation with my daughter, who has been an exchange student here for the last semester. We just spent the last week in the Galapagos and now are back with her host mom, Margarita for Christmas. Today is the big celebration day here and we've been cooking for hours, preparing to go to a family home for the feast and gift opening. Of course I made a quilt for Margarita - can't wait to see her open it tonight!…Continue
As many of you know, I now work for Martingale, home of That Patchwork Place. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been able to find another job in this industry and to continue working with creative quilters, knitters and crocheters.
It's been many months of work, but this week we launched a brand new website and blog. You might recognize me as …Continue
I haven't posted here for awhile, mostly because I haven't been sewing much. Partially because I've been super busy (playing and working and travel), but mostly because my sewing room was such a mess. Now, I know you're thinking your room is a mess too, but this was bad. Really bad. Last Fall I went on two different quilting retreats, had a blast. But when I returned, I just dumped everything into "the room". Now this room was already bad, because it's much much smaller than my…Continue
We're repeating our super successful $6 Bucks a Book Sale over at Martingale/That Patchwork Place.
Selected books are marked down today through Monday, 10/17, or when book sell out.
I admit, I've been pretty whiney about the lack of nice weather in the NW - all Spring and so far all Summer has been mostly gray, lots of rain and very mild temps. Right now (almost 7am), it's 58 degrees, gray and hazy. But it's supposed to get to an exciting high of 72, then rain for the next 2 days. Sigh.
Then I watch the national news - floods, dust storms, triple digit temps, humid....I'll take 72. For all of you suffering from your local weather, I'm sorry. I'll try to stop…Continue
Only a few days left to get your photos in for our contest. Four categories means four winners! Deadline is June 20th. I've seen your photos in the gallery here on QWU - I know you've got them!
Hi everyone, guess what I'm doing? Blogging on QWU from my new desk, at my new job at Martingale & Co/That Patchwork Place. It's only my 3rd day, but everyone has made me feel so welcome here! And what's not to love about a company who's hallways are covered with hanging quilts?!
I've checked with Connecting Threads for permission to post this. Martingale is sponsoring a photo contest. Since I know all of you have tons of beautiful photos from the gallery here, I thought this…Continue
Sorry I haven't been very active here - I've been too busy getting ready to move, and recovering from my knee replacement. It's been an extremely busy month for this girl! But I'm actually sitting here with nothing to do for the moment - my Vancouver house is rented, I found a house in the Seattle area, the movers have come and gone and they'll meet me at the new place tomorrow morning, so my cousin Joy and I are driving up very early tomorrow with my cats and all the fragile stuff to meet…Continue
I've been sitting on a secret for a week or so, and it's been killing me! Last Monday (day before my surgery), I accepted a position as Director of Marketing & Business Development at Martingale & Co, aka That Patchwork Place books. You might have heard of them? :) They asked me to wait until they could announce it to staff and today I got the all clear.
I'll be moving to the Seattle area very soon, and my first day at work is June 6th!!!! Know anyone that wants to…Continue
Many of you have been checking with me privately to see how I'm doing. I'm fine! My new job is at a Catalog Consulting Agency and I start tomorrow - it's been an interesting 6 month "vacation", but I'm anxious to get back to work. I don't know my title yet, but it's a senior level vp position.
Thanks for all of the inquiries and caring!
I'm afraid I'm going to owe Judy sewing favors for the rest of my life! Last weekend, she and a bunch of other quilters were at my house and we were talking about Row Robin quilts. Judy and I had participated in one at CT in…Continue
To all my cyber friends out there in this rough weather, please stay safe and warm inside if you can. I'm fortunate to live in a mild climate in the NW, but it looks like most of you are suffering with severe temp drops and snow storms.
Light the fire, get some handwork and enjoy the time off if you can!
