Moms house is done, well it was done back in August, finally, and up for sale. It was actually sold twice but the deals didn't go threw. Such is life. It is once again sold even though we still have a few things to do according to the inspection report we just got but they will be manageable, I hope. So now that I have a little breathing room I started taking a long look at my house. I guess I ended up with a few more things of moms than I realized. I've had this box sitting on the cutting table that has a mix of silverware. I was curious about a couple of sets and discovered that one set dates back to 1924. It's not really worth anything that I know of but kind of cool to have something that old, ok older than me any way.
I've been slowly finding the quilting projects I've been working on and the last was the broken star quilt. I did get a border around the center piece. I am going to add a couple more borders and then add another ring of the star pattern around it borders and then finish it off. Sense I don't have a pattern to work from I've realized that now I have to start working backwards. Which means making the star blocks and putting a row of them together to figure out how wide to make the next two borders around the quilt to make everything fit together. No one ever accused me of doing things the easy way!
The family is still fighting more than ever and very nasty things are bouncing from cell phone to cell phone in text messages but for the most part I ignore them and keep on going. Below is the center block for the broken star so far. I realized after pulling this out the other day that I wasn't going to have enough of the browns to make another ring of the star so I pulled out another brown print and added that as the first border. I'm going to add the cream color and then another brown then back to the star.
Isn't it funny how some guys just can't help but holding the quilts for us up over their faces!
