Jim in a hushed voice:  ...one final press.  Mary's opening her quilt (quiet applauding).  Oh absulotly beautiful.  She's completed a perfect Mariner's Compass quilt top.

Booker T:  Look at all those points!  I don't think I've ever seen a better example!

Jim:  That finishes our hand peicing event.  While the setup is going on for the final event, why don't we recap for our audience some of today's events.  Shelly completly blew away everyone in the long arm quilting marathon.

Booker T:  Hey, I think all those ladies deserve a medal.  That's a big machine they're making dance across the quilt.

Jim: Agreed.

Booker T:  Amber set a new record in the hand applique.  I pesonally think her color choice was wrong.

Jim:  Well, it was their choice, as long as they did the Sun Bonnet Sue block.

Booker T: I'm just saying, I thought it was ugly, that's all.

Jim: Our final event is the mixed species free for all.  This is where a quilter is trying to sew on her latest quilt and different species are in there having a play day.  Contest is decided if the quilter gets her goals accomplishes.

Booker T:  This year, the contestant is a veteran at this.  It's Annie Moon.  She's wants to get the blocks into rows.

Jim:  There will also be two returning veterans.  The felines Psycho and Duchess.

Booker T:  They will joined by a rookie, Missy.  She's a 4-month old black lab puppy.

JIm:  The contestants have entered the sewing room.

Booker T:  IT'S THE THREAD TOSS!  It's a mad scamble to get the thread that dropped to the floor.  Missy's in the lead

Jim:  But Annie made it first.  She has the thread in her hand!!  Next up is the threading the machine.

Booker T:  Psycho  has already taken her spot behing the sewing machine.

Jim:  One has to watch out for her.  She likes to bite the thread.

Booker T:  Yeah, and Annie has to be really quick with the thread because Psycho will be attacking with the claws.  AND SHE HAS SUCCEEDED IN THREADING THE MACHINE!!

Jim:  But now Annie has to sew with the cat behind the sewing machine and the other one on the blocks.

Booker T:  Sounds hard.

Jim:  It is.

Booker T:  Look at that.  The rookie Missy has gotten in on the action.  She's laid down right by the foot pedal.  Now Annie's having to contort to reach it.

Jim:  Am I seeing what I think I'm seeing?  I am!  Missy is using Annie's foot pedal as chew toy!!

Booker T:  She's still getting her blocks sewn somehow.

Jim:  ILLEGAL USE OF SCRAP BOX!!  You don't throw a cat into the scrap box.

Booker T:  Hold on, man.  I think Psycho mave have scratched Annie's hand.  Annie's running to the bathroom, holding her hand.

Jim:  Still, you don't throw the cat into the scrap box.

Booker T: It's a box of scraps, two feet away.  And she's a cat.  No harm was done to the cat.  She'd done it to me, I probably would have thrown her out the window.

JIm:  Ladies and gentleman, we've just recieved word that Annie is ok, and will continue to sew.

Booker T:  That's great!  She only had three blocks to sew into rows!!

Jim:  Well that's it folks.  Annie has won the main event.  She got the blocks sewn into rows!

I thought your idea was funny when you were formulating it.  Now that it's printed, it is hilarious.  I laughed till I cried, but this time I didn't laugh myself into an asthma attack.

a few weeks ago I was concerned that my wee dog had swallowed a bobbin...called the vet in a panic....he told me that cats have died from swallowing thread....yikes.....I found it later in her hiding place...whew....she is no longer allowed near me when I am sewing...they are too nosy!!!

Sewwww funny. I was just dealing with the same events in my sewing room. Let's see. Alice Ann (cat) lying on top of he pieces to be joined, Tux (cat) asleep on the 'special' fabric pile, Sophie(dog) lying on my feet- oops had to rescue Alice Ann from swallowing a 1/4" piece of ribbon (12" length). They do lov to be 'helpful'.

Great play-by-play in the sewing room.  3 on 1.  Hardly seems fair.  :)  Thanks for the chuckle.
