Back in March my daughter asked me what I wanted to do for my 50th birthday. I said that I didn't want to have a big party. She commented back with "Maybe you would like to run a 5K". I said me? run? Ha ha. So about a week went by and I thought hmmm maybe I should try it. So I told my daughter that I was considering it and the next day in my email was a training schedule from her. Well now I had to do it.When we registered they ask for your age on race day (my birthday was the day after the race) so I put 49 and hoping to make 50. lol My daughter never let me down in all that she has done. She ran her first full marathon this year and finished it in 4 and a half hours! She has only been running for 2 years now. So I started training in April and I finished my 8K run on Sunday (you noticed she went from a 5 to an 8K ) I had done 8K on the treadmill at home and finished in 72 and 68 minutes. I did my run on Sunday and finished in 56 minutes! So, very proud of myself. My daughter was pushing me harder at the end because she was watching the time. I was only interested in finishing. Then she had a birthday party for me on Sunday afternoon. So it was a great day! Now we are planning to run in the "Run for the Cure 5K" with my granddaughter, son-in-law and his sister in Oct. It will be a bit of an emotional run for me as my Mom died of breast cancer 13 years ago.
